Listening to us complain is part of their job description.
They are just not allowed to tell us anything we don't already know.

Actually, uhhh, yeah, that kind of is their job.
Playerbase complains to the CPM that something sucks, and then the CPM talks to CCP about it. They can't talk about what happens in their meetings largely due to NDA, but their job isn't to communicate what CCP is doing about the complaints, that's CCPs job. The CPM is just there to make sure CCP hears about it in the first place.

This game hardly has a community the drop off rate is insane and those with the ability to change it will just tighten there grasp till there is no one left. It is funny how even the virtual world is subject to the lessons of history.

Last time I checked no one single person is the entire community either. Experts from the community help out quite a bit because they're a concentration of lots of knowledge; but when you concentrate things you do lose some flavor in the process espeically when that flavor is the exact opposite of what you're used to tasting.

I agree, but my comment was intended less about the improving quality of Dust and more as a noticeable improvement of community interaction with the new CPM for the most part.
They seem more engaged with the community across a broader scope of issues, or at least make their community involvement more obvious.

It's about posting rhetoric. Some people are calm, fair, rational, and have less bias. Others are emotional, dismissive, and are very biased.
Experts are people that have knowledge of a subject and, while they have a side, give fair credit and consideration to any disagreeing opinion that has worth.
I have seen a lot of that lately and I blame CCP and CPM for the improved quality of the forums as of late. People are learning that being rational is more effective than being a troll because CCP is listening more. CPM is being more active in a constructive manner due to this.
Look at your posts. Do you take disagreement well? If not - you are not an expert. |

See the problem is that people don't venture out of General Discussion which is, quite literally, the shithole of the forums. Even I avoid coming here most of the time.
Check out some of the feedback threadnaughts in Feedback and reassess who on the CPM is communicating properly.

the CPM is just a boost to Ego and EPEEN.. they do mostly nothing for us and most of the CPM abandoned dust for other games after they attained CPM status

1. In reality the CPM of both 0 and 1 have found to be lacking for everyone except pilots where they just outright fail and seem to not care
1a. ADS latest nerf where supposedly 'pilot judge' was nowhere to be found except on destiny so Rattati did what he wanted
1b. CPM1 seems to be more biased against vehicles than i have seen in a long time where members just want them outright deleted from the game because of the theory 'i dont like it i want it removed' but it seems to be in line with CCP and Rattati vision since 4 hotfixes 4 nerfs to vehicles and still broken areas of vehicles which have lasted the best part of 3years and still going strong
1c. CPM still has no voice for pilots
2. CPM were voted in by less than 1% of the active playerbase according to the stats from CCP on a devblog, so in reality we can safely say that upto 99% just dont care
3. Can the CPM ever work like in EVE? Well do they even work in EVE? I remember voting in EVE elections for a FW candidate and as usual like in RL when i vote i was let down and dissapointed but it seems that yes it does work to a point and that it took several years to do, but then again this is DUST where 99% dont seem to care at all and i would bet that if an option was on the ballot to scrape the CPM it would get more votes
3a. CSM generally represents all types from NPE to WH and FW/Low sec but DUST it tends to look like this infantry x7 with 5nonfactors and a couple of ppl you may have heard of, doesnt help in CPM 0 most members were quiet and some even disappeared for the best part of a year while others metagamed there position for the new FOTM or ways to exploit the game in there favour and it all finished with 'rouge wedding' - So basically CPM 0 already made CPM 1 job harder
4. I dont think the CPM will ever bounce back, actions speak louder than anything they could ever say or write and the majority just dont trust or even believe in what they say or do

I dont/didn't agree with judge on a few things, but thought his attempt to educate the community to what they speak about so freely was a great undertaking. He asked for change,has a bright mind, and was articulate so really he didn't stand a chance. lol the CPMs are just as bad if not worse than the community in respect to there motives and understanding. The devs don't care enough to actually develop the game or rock the boat they just go through the motions one pale at a time.

If you want your input heard make a thread in Council Chambers and talk to CPM directly.

Hmm my player "input" joke was ruined by not putting "" around input...  guess I'll have to super cereal post.
But yeah well aware that CPM1 is making a difference.
And hey between them they pretty much sort through every thread / post. If there is anything decent enough I am sure they'll get around to it if / when it fits within the present time constraints.
Besides if there is anyone willing to go through the trouble of neckbearding it, the suggestion is to get involved with the whole Skype thing...

I agree with this. Many good ideas get rekt because people don't understand it, or don't agree with one piece of it and deem the whole thing a hot pile of you know what. I would love to see (more) actual constructive posts in the near future.

I can't agree with that good sir.
It's something that must certainly be considered in most aspects of existence -- but I would say that is ONE problem the Dust community doesn't have.
The nature of this game is complex. You learn to like spreadsheets. I am very right brained -- my professions are (winter) English teacher and (summer) Surfer. Two very non analytical things. I have learned to like spreadsheets! Actually stupid people, those who are incapable of understanding, quite simply don't play this game.
The type of person who comes and stays around is not stupid. I have seen some horribad posts on these forums -- but I still would say the majority of people who post those aren't stupid; just emotional, egotistical, or cynical. For whatever reason the folks in this game may post things that are not thought out all the way through, due to ego or rage or lack of context, they are certainly all capable of understanding a complex idea even if they( and in fact myself as well I miss stuff too and need a friendly summation in a different manner -- so really WE) don't get it right off the bat every time or agree with you every time.
So, no I don't believe that simple ideas rise to the top. I think simple ideas are more *implementable.* There are so many limits on CCP. Money, Time, Staff, Permissions, inherent coding, hardware for the chosen platform-- it is a HUGE list. So I feel more like it is the simple ideas that can be implemented reasonably. That's the long and short of it really.

More like a desired side effect if anything. RE changes to their timers seemed to have changed nothing in the past; the forced cloak fix; fixed the REs as well.
