Speced into SR and can't seem to finish my kills. Can't get through their armor.
How so you SR users deal with the armor tanking meta we have now? My primary is CR and NK so I'm used to a strong finisher.

Headshots slam stationary targets, but landing them on targets in motion is more a matter of luck than skill. Placing consecutive body shots on a moving target is a crapshoot with slightly better odds, but it still a crapshoot.
So, I tend to focus my efforts on picking off weak, weakened or lazy targets.

I carry an SMG sidearm. The ScR strips their shields, projectile damage profile rips through their armor.
... this works well until you encounter an Amarr sentinel. Their command bonus reduces projectile damage to their armor. I usually just run away from them or take pot shots from a safe distance.

So the SR is death for caldari and some minmatar but a pea shooter at gal and amarr.
I guess this is why the RR has remained supreme long range with the SR in obscurity.
I have been killed by SR very effectively at time though, I feel like I'm missing something....

There's a huge headshot multiplier. Just have to get super lucky, or wait for someone to stand still long enough to lineup the shot. |

Use flux grenades to take down their shield first. Then finish their armour with the SR. Make sure you get some distance on that flux throw though.
The slow blade penetrates the shield.

Play to ScR and Amarr Assault strengths. The ScR is a do-everything weapon that has one weakness: dealing with sentinals. Amarr Assault with ScR can kill shotty scouts before they can get off a second shot, and armor is a good profile against SG and AR. It's a beast CQC weapon. You can also engage at range but it ends up being more suppression unless they're shieldy, in the open, or you get off a good charge shot. Mid-range it's accurate and often working in its optimal. Amarr Assault/ScR is always a good matchup against any medium frame or light frame. Against commandos fine except beware the MD Minmando. Against Gal/Amarr sentinals...get help or back off.
Amarr Assault/ScR is a great baseline, ready for any situation build. I default to it and then go with Cal Ass/RR for range, and Min Ass/(A)CR for CQC flanking/running around the map. |

Now I'm wondering if you might be talking about the ScR (Scrambler Rifle). He's talking about the Scrambler Rifle, unfortunately he doesn't understand the difference between SR and ScR.

Oh also you have to rely on your side arm a lot. I suggest a complex sidearm dmg mod along with a light weapon one. Use an SMG in general and after instamelting shields bust it out and shock the sh!t out of them with how fast you tear down their armor. Equip a dmg modded bolt pistol to take down heavy frames. |

I speced it to have an alt with long range, but it doesn't perform well at long rang? The optimal is 75 but it does better at mid to short range?

Learn the heat mechanic without having to look at the heat gauge. Learn when to charge shot and when to rapid fire. Learn to not **** off anything with more than 500 armor |

Two Words: Damage Mods
Slap on 3x Damage mods and laugh at your new 108% to armor (Base is 71.5. With 3x damage mods, you hit 77.65. Without moods its only 57.2)

well i can usually JUST get through armor stacked suits before overheat, on a std SCr no Damage mods
but i am running on amarr assault with rank 5 and rank5 scr and prof 5
so maybe i am a bit biased

As long as you land all your shots you shouldn't have no trouble taking down an armor based suit (with exception to Sentinels unless you land a bunch of a headshots). The ScR does slightly more damage to armor after it's -20%, with a higher RoF to boot, than the RR does to armor with it's +10%.

I have been killed by ScR very effectively at time though, I feel like I'm missing something.... no the SCR will massacre any suit type in the game if used right. the key is to get as much damage out of the weapon as possible. this can be done by haveing amarr assault LvL 5 SCR LvL 5 and putting 2 to 3 complex damage modes on your suit.

The Amarr assault is key.
If you don't have one, don't use charge shots. You can't afford the hit to your heat economy - a charge shot takes up 10x the heat of a normal shot but only does 3x damage.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

This is honestly terrible advice to people new to the SCR without an Amarr assault. The heat economy of normal semi-auto shots without charge vollies is much more forgiving.
Only use charged vollies if you are confident you can down the target within your heat limits.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

To be truthful regular shots are far more useful I rarely charge shot people anymore and if I do it because your a minmatar scout or to shock you into hiding.
