Dear DUST 514 Beta Testers

Recently, there has been a spate of instances where individuals participating in the DUST 514 Closed Beta have breached their NDA. We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that as part of the DUST 514 Closed Beta, accepting and adhering to the NDA is a legally binding requirement that all DUST 514 Closed Beta participants have agreed to.

We understand and appreciate your enthusiasm for DUST 514. After all, it isnGÇÖt every day that one has the opportunity to participate in a ground breaking event that bridges two gaming platforms to create a new MMO genre. However, it is equally important that everyone follow the terms and conditions of the NDA so that we may protect the integrity of the DUST 514 Closed Beta testing phase. If you are not familiar with or do not recall the NDA, hereGÇÖs the link to the on-line location of the NDA.

Going forward, we will continue to enforce the NDA to its fullest measure and any Closed Beta participants found in breach of the NDA will receive a permanent ban on their DUST 514 account(s), without exceptions. We realize and value the time and efforts from all of you participating in the DUST 514 Closed Beta to make DUST 514 a great MMO experience to the world and we wish to see all of you continue to contribute in this regard. Thank you.

So could this mean that we will still have all of our skill points to spend at launch.

Even my ability to post in forums (I went to check it mid-week, and couldn't even make a new character) Well, I hope they re-address the NDA after this beta weekend.

Can people know I am a beta tester? Can I give vague answers and responses? Can I tell them a little bit about what is show in trailers, and what the Devs mention in interviews? Anyone on your friends list knows you're a beta tester already. The first time I started up the beta half dozen people on my friends list saw Dust 514 as my activity on Psn and immediately messaged me various questions and the like about the game. So CCP made sure the game broadcasts your participation to everyone around you.

When it is on sale in the store an NDA is not implied or obvious. If it is stated in the agreement it will not be understood properly as most people just click agree without reading these days. Hell it could say: "clause 29.2: Any CCP GM, employee, relative or CSM representative can legally take up residence in your basement without your consent at any time of their choosing." and people would still agree obliviously. going off topic but seriously is this still in effect? hard to keep a lid on Dust y'know!

Thank you. The DUST 514 Development Team Lots of YouTube videos of Gameplay are showing up now that the PSN folks have a hold of the Beta. What's CCP's stance on YouTube Gameplay videos at this point? (September 2012) Any idea when the Beta will be considered "Open"?

I've been in 20+ betas and nearly all the NDAs have the same "ideas" and all developers/companies take it very seriously. Normaly you can not tell anyone about the game, most companies allow you to say "I am a beta tester for _________ game" but nothing else, unless the people you are talking to are also beta testers of the same game. No blogging, no email, no txt, screen shots, nothing no exceptions be it verbal,written,typed, ect, about the game you are testing. NDA in my experiance are never lifted even in open beta and are only lifted once the game is fully released. As long as you DO NOT share anything about the game, that is not public knowledge, to those outside of the testing group you will be fine.

I think they don't even know the NDA exists, so I don't blame them, but you guys need to explain how this works to them. With an email or something.
