Anyone else think the RR charge time is far too long? To the point where it is extremely hard to use correctly? I can't be the only one who has seen this... or the only one wanting it to be fixed... Also I'm bad at making threads...

I feel a slightly shorter spool up to (perhaps 0.4) would be a good idea.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

I agree that it is a bit too long. If someone is hiding behind a rock and pop their head out, they can get a couple of shots in before you can even fire one round. The spool up time is so long that the rifle has become useless except in open areas where the enemy has no cover. I think the kickback was enough a a nerf but the extra delay is a bit too much. |

It's poop.. use the breach cause it's almost the same weapon. I switched to using Mag Sec / Bolt Pistol on my toon instead of the RR but with the news of a increase spool time on the magsec I quickly deleted that fit as well.
BTW, I rather run the RR but Caldari is poop right now... this coming from Mr Caldari.

Weakness 1, Area with tons of cover. 2, Spool up time 3, being spotted first 4, Reloading 5, Kick Strengths 1, Okay damage 2, Range 3, Is there even a 3? The weakness outnumber the strengths.
Now onto the buffs, Damage? It has a good amount of damage right now. ADS? Well no because 1, kick is barely a weakness for this gun (why it's #5) and if you max out the RR skill you already have a nice amount (not too much) of kick which is controllable. Nerf hipfire? Well I would rather trade my hip fire accuracy for the old spool time any day of the week .
I can't say anything about ARR due to the fact I never tried it...

The increase in spool up makes it a disadvantage now for the first time.
Still an awesome weapon, especially dominant at longer ranges.
Everything is good. (well maybe not for RR-sentinels who are especially vulnerable to this long range oriented weapons new cqc weakness...)
People would enjoy Dust a lot more if they accepted the fact that EVERYTHING is subject to change

RR for long but suffers at closer range.. it forces the player to make the conscious choice about which weapon to take/use at the time... its like sentinels.. FG for LONG range/AV.. assault HMG for longer range.. normal HMG for shorter range.. or like the differance between stock AR or the Tactical AR.. or CR (med) vs ACR (short)
its like in EVE... sniper fit (long range) == rails.. brawler fit (CQB/short) == blasters and if we go deeper its like.. railguns with antimatter (shorter) or tungston (longer)

a solid comment. it shows ARR is maybe more an advantage for closer ranges too and forces players to make choices.. like on my 6m+ cal assault/log alt has varients for LONG range and SHORT range and i use one or the other depending on map

I am so confused. Not saying you but the voice of the people in GD kept pushing for a longer spool up time. Now people are asking why CCP implemented it?
The meta wars are insane. Everything about the RR came at the hands of GD.

The kick like a mule function we had before that they traded out for the increased charge time was not a disadvantage?

eerr NO!!! How about keep the current kick and return the previous spool time. People complaint way too much in this game. Boohhoo I'm getting killed by X or Y gun boohoo. Well, maybe it is not the gun itself but the player. The RR is a niche weapon. It was made for long range and that it did well. Or rather used to do well. Because of the new nerf people will stop using it. If that was the goal, then congratulations for those that wanted this but, guess what. There are plenty of other guns to choose from. If X person was getting hammers by a particular gun and that gun goes away then that same X person will not get hammer by a new gun. Call this new weapon the Breach assault. There are already people in the forum complaining about it. With the kickback the RR became less useful at close range so, once you close the distance your chances of success went up. With the breach it is just the opposite. The closer you get the worst the player is going to get hit. So, the people that where complaining about the RR have a surprise coming to them. Let me spoil the surprise for you. These people won't be able to get close. At that point they will wish they had a RR to be able to kill people at a distance. With the new change there will be no hiding spot for them. But, of course they are already complaining about the RR so what is going to happen? It will get nerf and people will migrate to something else, say the shotgun. I've seen quite a lot of minmatar assaults with shotguns and they do quite well. Of course, they will say that the shotgun is too powerful so they'll nerf that. So people will migrate to knifes which are even more difficult to use. They will die by the dozen due to its difficulty and they will ask for a nerf and guess what will happen. People will migrate to simply melee. Oh, but, it doesn't stop there. you see they will complain that the minmatar scout bonus to melee is too high and they will want to nerf that too. Or that the heavy has too much HP to be melee to death by the average Joe.
Maybe at some point they will realize that maybe just maybe the person killing them is simply a better player than they are. But, hey what are the odds of that being the case? |
