Quite a lot of it can be safely ditched and isn't needed for a Dust Corp. It's just a matter of finding what to dump. Saying that, the Watch List comes to mind.
Doesn't work like the Watch List in EVE at all and I wouldn't mind missing it until they add functionality to make it work like EVE's.

I think that would be the best way to do it.

Would love to contribute but IMHO we need a larger playerbase, and more battlefield upgrades to gameplay itself along with missing content before this should become a priority.
Does the corp interface suck?
Yes.
Will it improve the quality of gameplay for most players?
No.
I feel we have bigger fish to fry.

Kevall Longstride wrote:The list I've given them is as you'd expect rather extensive.
I'll give you some of the highlights and if there are any you'd like to expand on, please do.
Corporation Mail Archive Corporation Mailing lists (with subscriptions) User created mail folders All lists sortable by name, date, subject, sent, received etc etc Multiple selection of mails for deletion Chat admin including, muting, kicking blocking by Individual, corp or alliance Granting of titles Granting and creation of permanent medals Automation of welcome mails Corporation wallet overall. With divisions, automatic payment of bills and full transaction history, sortable by time, amount, kind, payee, recipient. Shared corp fittings Ability to fund and store militia & standard grade fits in hangers for newer players to use Corp dividend and Corp Tax cap for players who pay a lot of it
One concept I'd like to explore if at all possible is a new Corp Skill Tree, incorporating Corp wide skill bonuses paid for by the generation of a new Corp LP system. Similar to the FW LP system but banked into a separate pool by the actions of a corps members, squading up, donating money to other players, earning ranks and titles. The corp CEO would then be able to spend these Corp LP on a bonused skill tree.
For example, a corp wide armour regen skill granting an extra 1% regen to all members per level. Or a salvage skill, enabling a similar increase per level in members loot drop percentage. Increasing the bling in a members quarters....
These are some of the ideas I've already proposed in various emails, essays and Trello boards.
First, with the state of the game, I would be for any social type features, corp hangers, shared fittings, anything that makes it easier on new players joining a corporation.
I like the idea of Corp Skill Tree but I do not want to see things that give players a battlefield advantage. Things like increased salvage, cheaper market prices, bonus loyalty points for xx actions would be acceptable.
I would like to see things that corporations could maybe buy with ISK aka a reason for taxes, maybe players have to contribute SP to level a corp skill? things that require investment and return.

I will add that I would like a view where I can see what squads corp mates are in and how much time is left on a battle, so I know if it is worth waiting for a squad to join up with.

If you've ever used the PS3's Web Browser to use the forums you'd notice that there is an option to use line spaces, thus allowing for neatly formatted messages.
Can we have this for DUST as well?

Having had many convos with Kev on this, I'd like to heavily second a better mail system. At minimum some basic auto-mail tool for new corp joinies.
On my end, having helped organize large and small events in the past, a Calendar system and Message-Of-the-Day system would help everybody massively. Some way to set individual events in the calender to Corp, Alliance, or Public would also be a useful sub-feature. Given that a Calendar requires dates, I'd also like to suggest we get day-of-week, day-of-month, month, and year next to the EVE-Time in the Player UI. (A thought: It may add to the immersion if this date-info was in EVE lore format. Meaning the same as real world, except year is in YC format. Just a thought.)
Adding a Role determining whether one can post to Alliance Chat would be very welcome.
From the public lectures we were running, I can personally attest to the need for bunnies to be able to manage our own channels. A single person not paying attention, or not knowing what to do (very common with new players) can vastly hinder the experience for the hundred other players in the chat.
This is not Corp UI, but if I may, the single biggest piece of low-hanging-fruit in the Player UI is probably "other player squad & battle status". Even something basic like a small icon on a player's channel-pane indicating if they are in a squad or not, and another one indicating if they are in battle or not, would be of massive value for any friends trying to play together. Additional data/features like: * knowing how long till they're out of the fight; * seeing if they are in Merc Quarters, War Barge, battle, or any of the loading screens in between; * queuing to join their fight if space becomes available; -would all be very welcome additions.
Also, turning "Push to talk" on causing the mic to be muted is HYPER confusing language and interface to new players. Can we change this to something (anything!) else? Like, instead of a weirdly highlighted flat-button saying "Push to talk", what about a side-by-side toggle-switch with one side saying "Push (D-pad Left icon) to talk" and the other saying "Open mic".
Those are just my suggested additions; me being a line grunt and occasional admin. Honestly IMO, if Shanghai and the community want to know what to do with Corp UI, let's all just trust that the CEOs who've been bleeding over this UI (some since closed Beta!) know where the pain points are. |

Perfectly valid point.
However........ now how do I put this? If any new content were to arrive in the game that would require that corporations in Dust be able to administrate themelves in the ways that their Eve cousins enjoy now, there would be a need to ask other players what is it they're looking for that the current UI lacks.
Given that possibility would it not be best to get feedback on that need at the earliest opportunity?
It's not sexy, shiny or as glowing as new weapons might be, but it would be a shame would it not, if new content came with UI not fit for it?

If wishes were fishes...
I don't disagree with the assessment. I just have serious doubts about such incoming content.

As you can see from the new roadmap, there are a number of new social feature that are going to require changes to the UI.
You'll now see why I started the thread in the first place.
