Hello to one and all,
As anyone that has run a corporation in Dust will tell you, the UI for such an undertaking in the game is minimal to say the very least.
For a game universe such as New Eden, where corp is king, the omission of such tools has severely hampered the games progress, so far as greater social cohesion is concerned. While not as sexy as a new map or a new weapon, this UI is equally important.
The last piece of corp ordinated UI or content was in Uprising 1.5 back in October 2013 when the roles made it to the game, followed a month later by 1.6 bringing us 'Mark as Read' and 'Delete All' a month later. Since then nothing else has joined them.
This month 1.9 arrived, bringing with it several new UI changes. It also heralded the increasing possibility of further updates, which could also include more UI changes.
As the resident corp UI fanboy on the CPM, I've already spoken to CCP a great deal on this matter but now I want to open it to you good people. I know many of you have expressed to me wishes that you hope the come to pass about this subject but I want to now collate all that in one thread so as to point out to CCP how much support such changes would have.
I've already told them what I want in a corp UI but now I want you do so too so we can make the case for more improvements in the games back office so to speak.
Thanks for any ideas you can give.

Vaguely relevant, but could it be possible to see Corp/Alliance PC battles from EvE side? Also the ability to add custom notes to battles (who the FC will be, what Map, specific strategy, training PC, No-show, etc) would be nice. Another idea is tagging people/ourselves with roles (Scout, Logi, Heavy, Assault, Tank, LAV, DS) either in description or somewhere.
The PC team building definitely needs work. Being able to see the whole team and perhaps the roles of each person (as mentioned above), as well as team queuing would help a lot, I'd imagine.
I can't give too much input for the actual topic, but I'll try and notify our Fearless Leader Hawkin about it.

I had a director who did not have an EVE character and was trying to organize some PC training matches. He would have to send 3 Corp mails to get all the information out. It ended up looking like he was spamming, but with such a small cap on mail length in DUST he did not have a choice.
I would like to see DUST players be able to write longer mail messages, to start with.
I also hate the fact that if you are holding down Shift and hit Backspace it deletes everything you wrote! If you use capitalization correctly as I do, you end up deleting long messages repeatedly, having to start over each time. One time this happened three times in a row on the same message. Finally I threw down my controller and stomped off to my computer to send the message from my EVE character. (I have the same problem in chat too I think.)

I know this doesn't directly have a huge affect on the actual corporate structure Cross but would it be possible to discuss with CCP the possibility of Dust corporations being able to see, and set their own channel MOTD and Sub headings.
In EVE its possible to include static channel information including
-Rules -Channel Mods -RP descriptors -Specific Intel -Etc
However as Dusters we cannot see that or set our own. Can this be rectified or put up for consideration.

PC battles should automatically populate on the calendar.

I heard a rumor once that if an EVE character created a channel and then gave a DUST character Moderation rights, the DUST character would lose the ability to make their own channels. I never tested it though. Does anyone know anything about that?

The list I've given them is as you'd expect rather extensive.
I'll give you some of the highlights and if there are any you'd like to expand on, please do.
Corporation Mail Archive Corporation Mailing lists (with subscriptions) User created mail folders All lists sortable by name, date, subject, sent, received etc etc Multiple selection of mails for deletion Chat admin including, muting, kicking blocking by Individual, corp or alliance Granting of titles Granting and creation of permanent medals Automation of welcome mails Corporation wallet overall. With divisions, automatic payment of bills and full transaction history, sortable by time, amount, kind, payee, recipient. Shared corp fittings Ability to fund and store militia & standard grade fits in hangers for newer players to use Corp dividend and Corp Tax cap for players who pay a lot of it
One concept I'd like to explore if at all possible is a new Corp Skill Tree, incorporating Corp wide skill bonuses paid for by the generation of a new Corp LP system. Similar to the FW LP system but banked into a separate pool by the actions of a corps members, squading up, donating money to other players, earning ranks and titles. The corp CEO would then be able to spend these Corp LP on a bonused skill tree.
For example, a corp wide armour regen skill granting an extra 1% regen to all members per level. Or a salvage skill, enabling a similar increase per level in members loot drop percentage. Increasing the bling in a members quarters....
These are some of the ideas I've already proposed in various emails, essays and Trello boards.

Calendar:
Click on it and you see the current month with a highlight color for days which have events. L1 and R1 allow you to go back or forward one month.
Click on a day and you will see the titles of each event on that day, and at the bottom a button to Create New Event.
Click on an Event and you will see the description for that event with officer text first in one color followed by sub-officer text in another color. There would be an Edit button at the bottom.
If you click Edit, or Create New Event, you see a Title line, and two text boxes. The first Text box is only editable by Directors and the CEO. The second Text box is editable by anyone with a Corporate Role as well as Directors and the CEO.
PC matches should be entered automatically as events, but be editable so that Directors or Terrestrial Officers can add notes.

Probably one of the single most important things you could add to corp UI would be the ability to join and leave alliances via a Dust CEO. There are still lingering issues with shares that this would largely solve.

I'll bring this up again. Stats for gauging player contribution to a corporation would be invaluable both to the corp leaders and corp members. Here are Image concepts how it could look if introduced in game; however UI does not need to be done in game. All that is necessesary is for EVE side directors or CEOs tied to a Dust corp get access to endpoints related to our Dust side player activity which can be taken advantage of and distributed with an api key.
-[Corporate Competition via Contribution Tab]
Key Points for design. -Allow EVE directors, CEO's or accountants connected to a Dust corp (or just in their EVE side corp) to see taxes collected from individuals players, not just "taxes for battle lost/won." Dust 514 or even EVE players don't necessarily need to even see a visual UI implementation of this feature if it can at least be achieved somewhere in your data pipeline for extraction into a 3rd party program by an API. -With this data, allow the system to cross reference Names between Corporation Wallet to Corporation Members List -Filters Names by In-Corp and Out-Corp under respective categories Taxes, Donations, and Withdraws -Out-Corp will return a null state for Taxes and Withdraws
Again, is something like this possible CCP? This seems like the path of least resistance for developing a useful system EVE side which also can be used by Dusties if they incorporate EVE player assistance to take advantage of their API. Having the ability to finely analyze player contribution to a corporation would be insanely helpful for structuring events and payroll.

As long as a corp is created Dust side and an Eve player is never made CEO the shares remain in the Dust CEO's possession. This is one of the reasons that being able to join and leave an Alliance Dust side is so important. It prevents shares from ever becoming an issue without having to trudge through miles of sludge that would be creating share interface in Dust.
On the issues of creating Alliances I really don't see that as big of an issue as being able to join and leave one. I sincerely doubt there would be a way to succinctly address alliance creation Dust side. Trying to might just makes us end up with nothing on the alliance end of things rather than solving 90% of the problems by just letting Dust corps join and leave an alliance.

I think that medals that are seen in EVE and not really used much, would be great in DUST. And unlike EVE, I don't think they should cost 5million ISK to award to someone.
But it would be nice for someone to carry some recognition info for their achievements within the game. I also think that we should have a section under the 'Show Info' button on a player where corpmates can 'L2' or 'R2' to see Corporate notes so we can discern the following:
Is this person a PC-Ready Player? What is their role in PC? What Squad are they with? What Meta role do they have in PC? EVE Alts?
I think when searching for a corp a player should be able to search by tags such as. "NP Friendly" "Planetary Conquest" "Pub Runners" "Faction Warfare Corp" Things like that.
Maybe even a chain of command page so people can understand the corporate hierarchy?
I'm just spitballing ideas as they come along.
I want to help DUST become a better experience for everyone. Let's work together!

This is a good point. Eve has a fairly intricate Corp search function that can be used to sift through corps based on gameplay, skill level, and even time of most activity. It would help the new players looking for a corp.

Most important: - CCP need to reduce lag on accepting/rejecting screen, and remove automatic refresh of that screen after each acceptance or rejections of application. - CCP need to fix bug that I reported ages ago when you can accept application of character that no longer exist(create character, send app to corp, delete char, accept app on dust director, you have +1 member).
Less important: - Requirement to have Corporation Forum need to be reduce from 10 members to 1, and both forums EVE, DUST(and in future Valkyrie if it will be connected to New Eden someday) need to be linked, so that all players in corporation have they own divisions but there is section designated to be used by all of them. - Dust need system that automatically create Eve calendar event for corporation, alliance or specific 'friendlly' corporation that is not in the same alliance; calendar event need include timers, locations, attackers/defenders and space for notes. - Speaking of automatic messages, I want them in FW system - it is not something that is strictly corporation related, but whole situation if FW just begs for it - I want to be able to send automatic msg that include information about starsystem, planet, district of my deployment on FW to: specific chat channel, character mail, corporation mail, alliance mail(there's need to be options for other side to 'allow' receiving this messages). - On many occasions I had the opportunity to be invited to someones corp by simple mail with subject "join.my.corp" /end of message. Lack of tools to create recruiting mail is painful. We need mechanic to advertise our corporations same as eve have. - To inform all new members of our corportion we need "bulletins" mechanic from eve(space where you can write what ever you want and you do not have to update it in order to be visible for new members).
Less, less important.. - I think duster would like to have 'Auditing' mechanic - that thing allows Director or CEO to track player roles progresion in corporation - it contain information like 'who accepted player application', 'where did he gsin ome roles and who gave them to him' etc. - Corporation statistic board - many directors creates alt to add all corp mates to friendlist in order to 'cheek' they progression(kills. deaths, wp etc.). I think we need mechanic that allow us to have all players statistic somewhere in corporation widows, and there's need to be option to separate players on divisions, so that statistics of new ones are not with PC vets or some other group that have different 'role' in corporation. - As eve player I would like to see dust wallet, transfers, donations all that stuff. - Options to generate Shares and manage them. - Mechanic to create dust alliance, and manage it..

Some people have touched on shares and how it could unseat Dust CEOs should an EVE capsuleer be made into a director and want to unseat the Dust player...
Why not create the options to give and take shares for Dust players? This would allow for benefits to open up for Dust players that EVE players have had access to. The would:
- Prevent unscrupulous EVE directors from unseating Dust CEOs - Pave the route for Dust voting as you would be able to give shares to players - Endorse the ability to pay Dust players that have shares a dividend (read: Dust PAYCHECKS)
There's others that I probably can't think of, but I know this wouldn't be a simple UI thing. They would have to somehow "actualize" the shares Dust side and figure out the best way to keep them in your inventory.
For my idea, I have an extremely extravagant idea that involves UI, but has a deeper undertaking that could strengthen the Dust/EVE link:
- Allow Dust squads to invite an EVE capsuleer.
My initial idea is this: Start off by allowing an EVE pilot to be able to "Fleet up"/"Squad up" with Dust mercs queueing for Factional Warfare. When this happens, some of the options are grayed out, indicating to the Dust mercs that the pilot can only bombard for those factions (e.g. Caldari pilot is in the Caldari militia and bombards for Caldari and Amarr). Furthermore on EVE side, there would be an ability for the pilot the check a box that would gray out another option for Dust mercs, indicating that the pilot will only do a single faction (e.g. same pilot checks a box and only Caldari can queued. The pilot wants to remain in Caldari space).
When the squad queues up and goes into the waiting for deployment phase, the EVE pilot gets a small sound notification along with an automatically set waypoint for that system. This reduces the time spent typing out systems to pilots into chats that can be riddled with spies, and provides quick and precise coordination that can get Dust mercs more involved to find pilots and EVE pilots the tools to quickly find Dust battle locations. Furthermore, when the EVE pilot enters the system, instead of attempting to find the district via Dust players (sometimes pilots get the wrong locations because they weren't paying attention or the Dust mercs mistyped the location), the pilot will see the battle location's beacon on the top of their overview which they can immediately warp to.
Upon arrival and connection, the squad leader is notified of their EVE pilot on the UI with "Capsuleer Connecting" (or something better than that). This will go away and a timer will countdown showing how long until the orbital strike can be used. This can be debatable since orbital strikes are already notified when ready, however, I think it provides a better new player experience (read: NPE to FW, not those that are brand new to the game) so mercenaries quickly understand it takes 3 minutes to be able to use those strikes.
This can be further improved upon if:
- Faction Warfare battles implement team sync - A Fleet can be connected to a Platoon (a full team of mercs, again my naming may suck) - Two Platoons queue up and find a battle against each other; the Fleets warp to the locations - Ground Commanders or GCs (sucky naming, I know) notify the FC that the other might have fleets on their way. - Battle goes live. Fleets jump into system and attempt to engage each other on the beacon. Bloodbath all around. GGs. War Room lights up.
... would be my idea for expanding further. Beyond that, it would open up new orbital strikes that could require Medium, Large, and X-Large turrets and provide and open up more options for Dust mercs as well as EVE players trying new tactics with larger ships.
I guess the takeaway from this would be: allow EVE pilots to squad/fleet up with Dust mercs to provide coordinates to Dust battles. Expansion on this idea could lead to battles over planets instead of just gatecamp battles.
EDIT: Bolding. Also, HOLY F*** I WROTE ALL THAT?

Jadek,
True, shares are even a problem in Eve because they aren't really mentioned in-game either. Personally I think they should just KEEP the shares on a Dust CEO's toon rather than putting them into assets if a Dust CEO hands the reins over to an Eve CEO. I don't know if that would require Eve side development though.

Quite a lot of it can be safely ditched and isn't needed for a Dust Corp. It's just a matter of finding what to dump.
