Having had many convos with Kev on this, I'd like to heavily second a better mail system. At minimum some basic auto-mail tool for new corp joinies.
On my end, having helped organize large and small events in the past, a Calendar system and Message-Of-the-Day system would help everybody massively. Some way to set individual events in the calender to Corp, Alliance, or Public would also be a useful sub-feature. Given that a Calendar requires dates, I'd also like to suggest we get day-of-week, day-of-month, month, and year next to the EVE-Time in the Player UI. (A thought: It may add to the immersion if this date-info was in EVE lore format. Meaning the same as real world, except year is in YC format. Just a thought.)
Adding a Role determining whether one can post to Alliance Chat would be very welcome.
From the public lectures we were running, I can personally attest to the need for bunnies to be able to manage our own channels. A single person not paying attention, or not knowing what to do (very common with new players) can vastly hinder the experience for the hundred other players in the chat.
This is not Corp UI, but if I may, the single biggest piece of low-hanging-fruit in the Player UI is probably "other player squad & battle status". Even something basic like a small icon on a player's channel-pane indicating if they are in a squad or not, and another one indicating if they are in battle or not, would be of massive value for any friends trying to play together. Additional data/features like: * knowing how long till they're out of the fight; * seeing if they are in Merc Quarters, War Barge, battle, or any of the loading screens in between; * queuing to join their fight if space becomes available; -would all be very welcome additions.
Also, turning "Push to talk" on causing the mic to be muted is HYPER confusing language and interface to new players. Can we change this to something (anything!) else? Like, instead of a weirdly highlighted flat-button saying "Push to talk", what about a side-by-side toggle-switch with one side saying "Push (D-pad Left icon) to talk" and the other saying "Open mic".
Those are just my suggested additions; me being a line grunt and occasional admin. Honestly IMO, if Shanghai and the community want to know what to do with Corp UI, let's all just trust that the CEOs who've been bleeding over this UI (some since closed Beta!) know where the pain points are. |
