Some people have touched on shares and how it could unseat Dust CEOs should an EVE capsuleer be made into a director and want to unseat the Dust player...
Why not create the options to give and take shares for Dust players? This would allow for benefits to open up for Dust players that EVE players have had access to. The would:
- Prevent unscrupulous EVE directors from unseating Dust CEOs - Pave the route for Dust voting as you would be able to give shares to players - Endorse the ability to pay Dust players that have shares a dividend (read: Dust PAYCHECKS)
There's others that I probably can't think of, but I know this wouldn't be a simple UI thing. They would have to somehow "actualize" the shares Dust side and figure out the best way to keep them in your inventory.
For my idea, I have an extremely extravagant idea that involves UI, but has a deeper undertaking that could strengthen the Dust/EVE link:
- Allow Dust squads to invite an EVE capsuleer.
My initial idea is this: Start off by allowing an EVE pilot to be able to "Fleet up"/"Squad up" with Dust mercs queueing for Factional Warfare. When this happens, some of the options are grayed out, indicating to the Dust mercs that the pilot can only bombard for those factions (e.g. Caldari pilot is in the Caldari militia and bombards for Caldari and Amarr). Furthermore on EVE side, there would be an ability for the pilot the check a box that would gray out another option for Dust mercs, indicating that the pilot will only do a single faction (e.g. same pilot checks a box and only Caldari can queued. The pilot wants to remain in Caldari space).
When the squad queues up and goes into the waiting for deployment phase, the EVE pilot gets a small sound notification along with an automatically set waypoint for that system. This reduces the time spent typing out systems to pilots into chats that can be riddled with spies, and provides quick and precise coordination that can get Dust mercs more involved to find pilots and EVE pilots the tools to quickly find Dust battle locations. Furthermore, when the EVE pilot enters the system, instead of attempting to find the district via Dust players (sometimes pilots get the wrong locations because they weren't paying attention or the Dust mercs mistyped the location), the pilot will see the battle location's beacon on the top of their overview which they can immediately warp to.
Upon arrival and connection, the squad leader is notified of their EVE pilot on the UI with "Capsuleer Connecting" (or something better than that). This will go away and a timer will countdown showing how long until the orbital strike can be used. This can be debatable since orbital strikes are already notified when ready, however, I think it provides a better new player experience (read: NPE to FW, not those that are brand new to the game) so mercenaries quickly understand it takes 3 minutes to be able to use those strikes.
This can be further improved upon if:
- Faction Warfare battles implement team sync - A Fleet can be connected to a Platoon (a full team of mercs, again my naming may suck) - Two Platoons queue up and find a battle against each other; the Fleets warp to the locations - Ground Commanders or GCs (sucky naming, I know) notify the FC that the other might have fleets on their way. - Battle goes live. Fleets jump into system and attempt to engage each other on the beacon. Bloodbath all around. GGs. War Room lights up.
... would be my idea for expanding further. Beyond that, it would open up new orbital strikes that could require Medium, Large, and X-Large turrets and provide and open up more options for Dust mercs as well as EVE players trying new tactics with larger ships.
I guess the takeaway from this would be: allow EVE pilots to squad/fleet up with Dust mercs to provide coordinates to Dust battles. Expansion on this idea could lead to battles over planets instead of just gatecamp battles.
EDIT: Bolding. Also, HOLY F*** I WROTE ALL THAT?

Quite a lot of it can be safely ditched and isn't needed for a Dust Corp. It's just a matter of finding what to dump. Saying that, the Watch List comes to mind.
Doesn't work like the Watch List in EVE at all and I wouldn't mind missing it until they add functionality to make it work like EVE's.

As you can see from the new roadmap, there are a number of new social feature that are going to require changes to the UI.
You'll now see why I started the thread in the first place. I saw that!
Great work!
