Something has changed...maybe the Mu system was overwritten by the deployment of 1.9 which also nulled the balance changes in the last hotfix.
But I also feel that a lot more of the betters players have come back therefore adjusting the Mu after each battle is taking longer.
I'm still having fun, just about.
I was wondering this as well. Since 1.9 I seem to be seeing a lot more 1 sided stomps, both for and against my team. If something happened with it to overwrite the MU ratings, it could have an affect.
As for the 1 month MU ratings, is that based on calendar month or a rolling month? If it says "look at October" instead of, "let's look at October 7th through November 7th and recalculate after every match", then that could be a HUGE issue.

Same here.
I will say though that I'm seeing fewer proto suits being fielded by randoms, but I'm still seeing endless proto squad stomps.
And I agree with what others have said. I can put up a decent fight, but when it seems like I am the only one trying to hack points or use drop uplinks? That isn't fun to me.
Honestly, I'm a bit tired of 1.9, even though I like some aspects of it. It's shoe horned me into a SG cloak game. Why?
If I run as assault, I can't flank, I'm hunted down and killed by stupid logi scanners, or a LAV with 2x logi 1x hvy, all proto, pulls up and rips me a new one when I try to hack a point.
If I can find a good heavy to run with, Logi can work, sometimes, for some maps.
Hvy I need a good logi, which is hard to find.
Which results in the SG cloak scout.
Now I've been running as an EWAR SG scout since day one, which for me was in open beta. I love scouts, I love what I do with 'em and how I can turn the tide of a fight by dropping uplinks, hacking points, all while playing a skirmisher/guerrilla warfare style of fight. What I don't like is being forced into that role to stay competitive and to have SOME chance of being able to make a difference.
For crying out loud, I get hate mail as a scout because I kill people and I don't even bloody well use any tanking modules!
I am frustrated because for some areas and some situations, cloaks can be very handy, such as standing still as a squad runs past you. But honestly, I think this change to cloaks was not the way to go. It hurts the lone infiltrator/hacker far more than it hurts the teamwork of Caldari scouts, damps in lows, tanked shields, with proto combat rifles. |

My idea on Ewar is too reverse the profiles for dampening and precision. Heavies get the precision, scouts get the dampeners and cloak. Heavies can see you but you can see them. Scouts can be invisible but they are blind.
This means everyone, including heavies would be playing Ewar and using modules to gain the advantage, medium suits could play both roles only not as well as either heavies or scouts.
The HMG would need nerfing and the cloak firing delay needs to be seconds, not fractions thereof.
Because, that's why.

You could be a statistical anomaly, but in the last few days I've had a similar problem.
Either it is a stroke of bad luck, or they simply decided that the Hardcores must get even more blowjobs, because they pay statistically less for Aurum, if they dont have the easiest possible matchup. What would be so perfectly perverse, that I actually tend to believe it to be true (the perversity of money-power in general considered).
As if it would be so hard to just do matchmaking by comparing total SP invested. Every bad match is purposefully made, I tell you!
Geez, am I a communist or what? lol

I don't run SG, and really can't do squat. I try and place uplinks, but since I don't call in an ADS and put them in unreachable places, they get scanned and taken out. Even if I am putting them around strategically.
I run knives, but get ambushed by heavies and assaults because I shimmer and run right in front of them, where I otherwise wouldn't if I knew they were around.
When I try and hack, I get killed by camping scouts, because that is the only role left for them when they have that little HP.
And when you add insanely stacked teams to that equation, it becomes infuriating.

Either I was just so super awesome that before Mu came along I could carry a team, and suddenly have to fight full squads, because only they are good enough to be on my level, which is laughable.
OR
The previous system was so messed up that it often put me on the winning side.
It would be different if my WL ratio was 0.7 or 0.6. MAYBE that would mean I was coming down to a justifiable area, but 0.13? That is just f*cked up.

Seems like the mu system massively overestimates my skill, too. I mean, my KDR is just under 1 but my W/L ratio is decent, my WP/D is pretty good, but I'm a logi. You just can't put me on the side with randoms and expect good things to happen... I too have not many people to squad with anymore outside of FW due to Destiny and Fanfest.
Then again I'm going to do 99% FW now that pub payouts are no longer 2mil and I can sell my salvage. So I guess the above is moot. Screw you guys, I'm going home...

It doesn't take into account skills/roles etc.
If you took 16 players with high Mus, but they were all skilled only into heavies vs 16 players with the same level Mus, yet they were spread across the role spectrum, then of course the second team is going to win.
Many of the squads I see running have a variety of positions, with heavies logis and vehicle pilots coordinating. THAT is such a powerful tool, and Mu takes none of that into account.
If one team has lots of ADS and the other has none, then the high ground is taken, and there is no coming back from that. Game over, no matter how "balanced" the rest seems.

I think they could balance it perfectly if they wanted. They just dont. I think its about monetization, thats all.
Like in politics, where they had 0% unemployed in the 70s and just turned that around, because there wasnt enough profit for the big players anymore. Its not about everyone having a fun experience. Its about exactly some guys that pay very much money. If the whales pay less for a fair game, you wont have a fair game. Simple as that.
The balance they seek is this: How can we make a game, where the few whales pay the most extreme amount of money and everyone else is not pissed off enough to leave the game forever. Thats the balance they want, nothing else.

Before Mu, there were some big blowouts, but there were more good games.
Now, I NEVER see a good game. Not ever.
Every game is a blowout. Every single one. No matter what I do, I am always against a well coordinated team spamming uplinks in high places with a team that never helps out. Every now and then, they are on my team, and we win easily.
I can't even have fun when I do well, because I know no matter what I do, no matter how well I do, my team is going to lose. It was like that from the start of the game, and the rest is going through the motions.
My monthly win loss ratio is 0.13. How the thunderbolt is that balanced? All time I am 1.17. That is WAAAAAY to much a discrepancy for it to be anything other than the current system.
Something needs changed, or I can't play this game.
I came here, right now, to report this. Every match, I'm dropping with my entire side being random against proto squads. With this event happening and seeing this nearly every single drop I'm getting fatigued very fast. It isn't balancing correctly.
I shouldn't have to fight teams like Nyan san every match. It isn't fair. It isn't fair in any sense to be matched against THAT every time. |

I even am at a place where I have multiple fittings to do multiple roles in case one of them is negated. My last match I played every role I had at my disposal, and still couldn't do anything.
I just can't play until next Tuesday when the next hotfix comes in. It is just not worth it.
