Go to Variations on any Prototype suit and there is a BPO prototype of every suit.
The Gallente Assault is the Spartan
The Caldari Assault is the Rasetsu
The Minmatar Nomad Assault Suit
Amarr Opus ASsault Suit.
Commandos:
Gallente: Centurion
Caldari:Samurai
Amarr: Paladin
Minmatar: Renegade
Is this for Reaching Level 10 for Faction warfare??
CCP holds the Caldari's hand so this doesn't happen again.

What makes you think they're proto BPOs?
Not doubting, just curious. I'm away from console at the moment.
Wouldn't they be regular AUR suits, but with different paintjobs? |

They have the Prototype Symbol next to their icon.
They are in the Variations of the Prototype suits.
When you go to Variations it only shows the items in the same tier.
CCP holds the Caldari's hand so this doesn't happen again.

Perhaps this is what the visual customization is. Purchase a BPO skin that can apply to specific suit tiers maybe?

So We're allowing Respecs everywhere, BPOs are starting to flood the Game once again, ISK is easier to come by and the game is Saturated with SP.
Sounds similar to the last time we got a respec.
This game is truly a Beta for Legion which I'm suspecting is coming out a lot sooner than we think. Everything is being toyed with in DUST so they can get it right in Legion.
CCP holds the Caldari's hand so this doesn't happen again.

Obviously... where do you think the BPC comes from? Since essentially they made it so that any Dust item that is used up is a BPC.

My guess is they're BPO's for paint skins like we have in EVE.
you buy a certain run BPC and you put the standard Megathron in with say an Aliastra BPC and out comes an Aliastra painted Megathron. all stats are the same but its just a different paint job and would explain the customization part in the market.
My guess is you buy this customization BPO and you can apply it to as many proto suits as you want. you still have to buy the suits and they're still disposable but the skin is a permanent purchase that you can just keep re-painting your proto suits when you buy them
