I don't know how much I have spent over the months and years.
At one point I was buying a15-20 quid mercenary pack / bundle every month.I would guess I have spent over -ú100.
Or about 23 billion dollars.......  slight exaggeration perhaps.

I haven't spent any money but a buddy did buy me a merc pack a month or so before they were removed. I don't think he regrets it cause he's a big fan of Dust even with all it's flaws; so much so he was willing to do a monthly psn card raffle for the corp I was running then so members could get the merc pack and buy boosters.

I haven't bought aurum but i did spend 10 bucks on a bluetooth headset just for this game if that counts. 15 bucks on a Ethernet cable so id be hardwired to my router because of this game.
So no money for CCP but those purchases were made "for Dust".

That's over almost a 2 year period as well, its not actually that much.

And she's recovering from cancer!.

good point - including the -ú20 I spent on a headset exclusively for DUST it makes -ú70
the five minutes I spent playing gta online with it don't count..

No, I'm not funning with you---30 US denomination dollars.
The claim was that Dust 514 is NOT a pay-to-win game like some of the others are, and I wanted to see if that was true. Made my wealth and Skill just by free-grinding. And I know I'm not special by having done this--I'm not alone--many of us played diligently in Dust without giving in to the temptation to use real money.
I bought a "tactical" pack once, and some other $9.99 Aurum wallet another time, thinking the Aurum MIGHT come in handy.
I STILL have not spent a single unit of my Aurum on anything in the game. (...still waiting to see if a big PC link to EVE ever gets completed--THEN I'll spend my Aurum on something---)
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

Its not just in dust, but other games I get this negative attitude.
Like in warframe, iv bought all my weapons and frames, I'd not enjoy the game if I had to spend it grinding for literally weeks to get what I want.
People seem to think that not spending in a game they enjoy that relies on micro transactions is some kind of win, which is arse backwards. Fair play if people simply don't want to though, but when the sht hits the fan, they shouldn't be surprised.
Iv spent it all on boosters for a while when I started and packs and then continued spending on proto suits, weapons, equipment etc, etc.
It is nice to run proto fits that cost about as much isk as a std fit lol.
Proto sentinel with proto hmg for 4k isk anyone?.

a season ticket to my football team costs at least 1.5 grand. It hasn't always been that much but let's say that's what it will cost you to watch sport for 90 minutes once or twice a fortnight for a year.
a grand on dust over two years? not really that much as long as you are getting value for your entertainment. if, like me, you play pretty much every other day then frankly it's value.
if it's your primary source of rest and relaxation then you may go vaguely insane but you are still getting value.

My reasoning has always been that it costs -ú40 to buy a new game. Less if you wait for a while but -ú40 if you want to get stuck in.
If it's a really good game then I'll play it for months and I won't feel even slightly cheated of my cash.
Just like you say - cost per hours of playtime DUST is hands down the best value I've ever experienced on ps3
