I've just come back to see that you guys are turning the flaylock into some bastardized version of the scrambler pistol.
Why?
Those who love the flaylock (even post nerf) never wanted it to be like the scrambler, we loved the FLAYLOCK, why is it being changed into some kind of 'scrambler 2' skillshot weapon?
Who asked for this because I've never encountered someone who wanted to make the flaylock more like the scrambler.
And what's the reasoning behind the CPU/PG overhaul for such small changes?
I'm looking here and I certainly can't make sense of it.
I love dust, still, but your (CCP's) reasoning for balance has always gone over our (the player's) heads, I most likely won't get an answer but I'll ask anyway:
Why change the flaylock this specific way?

It's the changes that make it a 'skillshot' weapon while keeping the relatively low splash radius of 1.5 that's confusing me, turning it into some kind of bastardized scrambler, hence the call for clarify, and still just 'barely there' I know I'm not the only one who knows that while meters are infact meters they play as FEET.
1.5 foot splash radius.
How much of that do you think a percentage based racial skill can add to?

Yea in all fairness Rattati is right. From what I recall most of the flaylock dudes were asking for more skilled direct shot damage and less, splash splash splash and the merc is gone.

I disagree, the flaylock was completely overpowered with both large splash and damage. We want the return of the flaylock but there was a reason it was nerfed in the first place.
I think the consistent splash is just fine for close quarters combat (intended fighting zone) therefore you don't need too much. You guys are also forgetting that flaylock operations skill increase splash radius by 5%. With 1.5m splash it gets max 1.875m. Already darn close to 2.0m. What you guys are calling for with a base of 2.0 would mean max skills would be up to 2.5m. That is too large a margin for your so called 'skill-shot' weapon when you within 50 meters albeit most would use it when within 10m. That just means another spam fest at the ankles or a mini mass driver....OP guys that is OP! That is why it was nerfed to hell and combined with a near 200 damage per shot (splash)....C'mon guys you should know better.
There is still a splash element you can take advantage of against fast moving targets(i.e. Scouts) So you can still take advantage of that with skills and timing. A faster projectile will allow you to do maximum damage with direct shots for the real 'skill-shooters' particularly against heavy suits. If well trained you could hit any suit with the speed increase its getting.
Best to see how it behaves once we have it. If it still drops like i think it might do then i would call for an even faster projectile speed..but that is for another day.
TLDR; 1)Splash radius with skills 1.875m or 1.9m Close enough to 2m already (skill into the weapon if you want the radius increase) 2)Direct shots do more damage and should be possible hence why all pistols getting head-shot bonuses( yes this applies to the FP as well) 3) Lets not try to return weapons to OP states, think how the other guy might feel or how you'd feel getting shot at by the weapon. 4) Yes, no aim assist for explosive weapons(FP is a skill weapon) git gud scrubs.

I'm not asking for the 4.0 of old, it got the hammer for a reason, but having an explosive weapon with such a tiny splash radius is ridiculous.

With max skills it should be closer to 2m, I think the community, esp Ghost Kaiser was very vocal about the radius not being more than 1.5 and we listened.

Maybe one day I'll join a gaming company, this one however is your show, I've seen you making improvements to the game recently and that's good.
To truly make improvements to the game or to calm the masses and milk their cash?
No idea, and after that whole fiasco at fanfest I can hardly take promises anymore.

This is the Rittati era. Every change is explained to the community and discussed by the community before it gets finalized. If something slips through without community feedback, it is simply because there are so many changes being discussed that occasionally something gets overlooked by the community.

I'm fine with 1.5 metres if it actually was 1.5 metres.
Bad hit detection and the fact we all dance makes it a bit of a joke. Then take into account that its got the radius of a firecracker and you have yourself a joke weapon that looks and sounds nice, but it is not to be taken seriously.
Also the whole skill shot weapon statement, its explosive and I have yet to see anyone who isn't trying to blow my feet off with it. There was this one commando once, but that's it.
If someone whips out a flaylock, its basically a free kill while I strafe out all or most of the damage.
And again, we had less HP and the flaylock did more damage when it was op.
We now have a lot more HP and it didn't get a buff to keep up.
Buff it.
If it not going to get a buff, then drop the price and fitting requirements dramatically to be in line with how 'fun' (sht) it is on a serious level.

Yup - This is what everyone is missing as they remember that time. poor hit detection and some of these other weapons werent even in the game yet.
Now we have accurate rifles, more Shield tank and a decrease in its dmg because it is going to be less than it was and the change in Damage Modifiers as well as proficiency damage.
Couple all of that with a smaller radius - please tell me how its going to be the same.

Well, I mentioned that I thought the std/adv versions should be normalized to the proto's 2.0m splash radius, because the std/adv versions are pretty much useless now. Now that proto is 1.5 its probably going to be useless too :\
Its really hard to get accurate shots off with the thing without using a mouse/keyboard setup and now its going to be just worse enough to make it really unattractive. |

In case you haven't noticed, for all effective purposes the Dust meters are feet.
There must've been a mistake in distant developement past where feet and meters have mixed up.
That is very likely why some previous devs made mistakes in balancing attempts as they must've been thinkin "but 2 METER radius is SO big, that's the length of a merc!" But oh no.
I dare CCP Rattati, or anyone else, have a look at it and measure. I recall some veteran even attempted to triangulate and possibly proved the dust meters are actually feet in real game scale.
People would enjoy Dust a lot more if they accepted the fact that EVERYTHING is subject to change

The only other tweak to its base performance is faster projectile speed. 'It got it's splash radius back' -not quite, the former and to be splash radius is different indeed. It's 1.5 meters In case you haven't noticed, for all effective purposes the Dust meters are feet.
There must've been a mistake in distant developement past where feet and meters have mixed up.That is very likely why some previous devs made mistakes in balancing attempts as they must've been thinkin "but 2 METER radius is SO big, that's the length of a merc!" But oh no. I dare CCP Rattati, or anyone else, have a look at it and measure. I recall some veteran even attempted to triangulate and possibly proved the dust meters are actually feet in real game scale.
Thats it yeah.
