That headshot will only kill untanked scouts, certain medium frames with light to no tanking.
And considering the range reduction, they will no longer be able to hide in the redline while doing so.
I don't see this as a problem. Snipers need to be as viable as any other play style.

That's what people get for b*tching about redline snipers and wanting a range nerf. If the range gets nerfed to bring snipers closer to the battle then they deserve to be able to get a ohk for their troubles. Stop trying to make the sniper rifle just another short range rifle.
Since we're on the subject of neutering roles because somebody doesn't like others playing to that role; Next we should have logi not be able to carry so much dam*ed equipment.

I loathe snipers. Never called for any nerfs or buffs on them as they are a valid role of course, I have just always hated the buggers. I might have to even try them out myself with the incoming changes. Hated them in this game, hated them in Battlefield.
I can foresee spending a lot of time in / near the enemy redline looking for these feckers.

Snipers, when properly pulled out of the redline, are nice to have in a squad. I had some rando blueberry sniper in a squad once who I could say, "There is a minmatar logi on alpha. Kill it." and a few seconds later the logi's name would show up in the kill feed. It was nice.
The reduced range should reduce the number of redline snipers a bit.

This just means the Milita Sniper Rifle will go back to being as effective as it was in Chromosome, before the HP creep made all the suits harder to kill.
When I originally wrote my Sniper guide I mostly used a Milita Sniper Rifle. I figured that if you could not kill them in 3 shots they did not deserve to die.

Oh and suit information shows up so logistics is very easy to target. Numbers would be fine it's the suit name that gets logistics killed.
Well,you can expect an even greater drop in logistics because of this... Why try run a suit that will be targeted first by all the OHK weapons in the game,that has low eHP and speed to match.
CCP is forcing logistics to brick tank more and more with each update and "tweak". And people wonder why "logi-light" is so popular.
Was banned for fighting for logistics survival on 7/25/2014 02:11. Logistics will never be respected.

^ This ^ I love all the bitching. And 90% of it is people who have never picked up a Sniper Rifle in this game and just see that 1 magic # (Like 1560 HP or whatever on the Charge). Forget all the other stuff like, as you said, sway, lower magazine capacity, lower total rounds carried (18 for a Charge), the fact you have to sit absolutely still in order to make a shot over 20 feet with any prayer of landing it, etc. It's all about that damned Alpha Damage. Yet none of these same people complain about a militia Forge that does 1200 HP Damage and has a 300 Meter range. You can move with it, move and shoot, and not have to sit and scream to people "KILL ME PLEASE."

I think there are TWO HUGE problems though.
1. These type of snipers are pretty rare lets be honest (But.....)
2. Its totally because of the sniping mechanics in DUST. If you are not crouched / stashed away / in a prime location, what good are you as a sniper in this game. There is no way to really move / stand up and snipe or anything even remotely like that and that for me is why things are the way they are.
Now I wouldn't want to see crazy no scoping / quick scoping but it would be nice for the sniper rifles to actually have some more use in the mid range without having to crouch like a ****** before every shot. So yea I do understand the problems.

While I somewhat agree....
The forge gun cannot head glitch imperviously behind hills a billion miles away. And if forge sniping is as easy as people think, why are there not more?
There used to be a ton of people who would forge snipe, then they nerfed the splash, now you only get skilled shooters forge sniping. The way it should be.
And no I'm not complaining at all about the changes to snipers. I feel they need a LOT more help in the mechanics department (i.e crouching to shoot is crap)

The head glitch thing I've never had an issue with. If someone can kill me, I don't think I've ever come across someone I couldn't kill right back. That is just personal experience. I know it happens because too many people have brought it up for it to be some grand conspiracy.
True. I will give you that with the forge. I've done the forge Sniping before and it is damn hard to pull off. The splash nerf made it a LOT more difficult. There are still a few good ones out there (Funkmaster Whale comes to mind) but it definitely takes a certain amount of skill
I know you're not complaining specifically. I think your points are totally solid and realistic. The mechanics are out of whack. While not being in favor of quick sniping, it should be easier to pull up and fire a shot off then having to crouch down, wait for everything to stop moving, move the scope, then fire. This takes a MINIMUM of 4-5 seconds, more if using a Charge or unsure of the target. There should be a way to cut that down at least somewhat.

That last part is exactly it man. The problem I feel is that this is not something CCP can change with a few numbers tweaks on their servers unfortunately.

what i wonder is how Thale-style sniping will work. im not talking about the officer weapon, im talking about the way Thale used to snipe. he was a Gallente Scout that was extremely stealthy (the Gal scout still is the stealthiest scout in the game if you count the lows, which can potentially hold profile dampeners.), and used the stealth to snipe while being virtually undetectable.
i guess you could always hit/run. the scout finds a good hidden position, snipes and kills a few reds, then runs elsewhere to find another position. when people have spotted the sniper and they come back to hunt him down, he wknt be in that area anymore and that could potentially even allow for the sniper to find and snipe those people looking for him while they are searching for him where he once was.

Many snipers will still be able to snipe from inside the redline..... most snipers shoot at ranges less than 500 anyway.....
It's not like the maps are that huge that snipers will be forced to come out now. Only thales shoot over 500 effectively, and yet to this day i have never seen a 600+ shot.... So shooting at 400M is pretty effective if you're 100m in the redline

Snipers have been asking for a buff to the sniper, but CCP said they can't buff with it out nerfing the range.

I don't see a problem with this... Makes the sniper rifle more powerful than the rail rifle (I think!) so maybe people will stop using that as a substitute. |

It's not like the maps are that huge that snipers will be forced to come out now. Only thales shoot over 500 effectively, and yet to this day i have never seen a 600+ shot.... So shooting at 400M is pretty effective if you're 100m in the redline

Doesn't show it, but the rifle is a Charged SR. I've another that's just under a meter less than that with an NT-511.
