I don't know CCP's finances, but I bet if they had a way to pay a larger crew of button pushers, put the finest polish ever on Legion, came out with exactly what they, as well as us players envision, they could charge as much as any other popular title and people would eat it up just like Destiny. This free game is nice, but imagine the possibilities. Dust has more to offer than the other shooters but doesn't get the spotlight it deserves because of errors that could have been corrected long ago if they took a different approach. Were the profits from Aurum, in any way comparable to what might have been made if it were comparably priced to other games?
I remember them coming out with Destiny pre-orders like 2 yrs ago, I transferred my Destiny pre-order to The Last of Us, thats how long ago they were collecting money for development.
I'd sure as hell, would pre-order Legion and pay for it ike any other game If they can bring this to life. They have a game like no other and I want to see this game get the attention it deserves. |

Anyways, I wouldn't pay for Legion if it required a subscription or a one-time payment to play. I'm already spending enough money as it is playing Eve Online.
On Twitter: @HilmarVeigar #greenlightlegion #dust514 players are waiting.

I would hope that the amount I've already spent on Aurum for Dust would be taken into account. Hell, I've been crowd funding Legion. But I would definitely pay for it. I'm not sure I'd pay the exorbitant EVE subscription long term, but I'd pay something. |

I have already told many people that I hope to see legion mimic the payment model of Eve. Having it subsciption based but able to pay with in game currency is an amazing model. CCP gets their money, newbies are able to effectively purchase extra isk, and veterans are able to essentially play for free. It is truly a win for everyone. It also gives vets a reason to keep grinding ISK instead of sitting around finding ways to screw over the new players.
Personally I believe having anything Aurum in the game guarantees that we never get a player driven economy and we never get a deeper link to Eve. Assuming an attempt is made at a player driven economy, having what is essentially a giant NPC station that you can buy things from if prices get too high or even buy to dump on the market at a profit to screw up the current prices is just too game breaking.
CCP GO WITH WHAT YOU KNOW, FORGET MICRO TRANSACTIONS SO THAT WE CAN HAVE THE GAME THAT YOU SOLD ALL OF US THE VISION OF.

In eve you are able to pay for your subscription with ISK, many players have not paid a subscription in 8-10 years of playing the game. If you are not able to grind up the ISK you can get significant discounts for either setting up auto pay or paying a large chunk of your sub in advance. |

Maybe a kickstarter campaign ? Look at games like Star Citizen, didn't they get something like 15 million in one year ? And they are even adding a first person shooting element by 2016...
If CCP doesn't do something big with Legion like full EVE integration with a next gen shooter (like everything Destiny feels like it should be when it comes to "next gen") then they are going to be dead in the water that is unless all they are shooting for is to maintain their niche player base.. Although we've seen how that's been working out for them over the past few years...
All other shooters from here on out (besides the generic COD franchise) are trying to set the bar pretty high.. I believe CCP has what it takes to make Legion amazing and I would pay for early access if CCP can take their time and learn from the shortcomings of current titles being released.. (which I hope is the cause of silence surrounding Legion) |

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I put battlefield 3 in yesterday and every now and then I'll play COD with a friend I can't get to play Dust. I used to really like Battlefield, as well as COD. Playing battlefield yesterday was horrible, controls felt slower, worse than a heavy, yadayada etc, not gonna gripe, but each title, expansion packs and all I have over $100 in each. Everyone looks forward to these games each year and will pay $100+ for each title before they bring out the next polished turd, that again they fork over tons of money. All the while Dust in in the shadows. Outside of this niche group of people, who has heard of legion? Dust is a far better game than both of those blockbusters. It has the potential to be the king fps. If CCP charged for the game, and brought in the money for a larger team of developers and in your face marketing, I believe it would succeed just as those other games.
Its like Motocross, and privateer riders against factory riders, only thing that sets them apart seems to be funding. They bring pro level quality, but they are paying out of pocket, instead of landing that factory ride.

That gamers and humans in general are bred to be consumers and will pay for damn near any semi polished duplicated turd with just the slightest hype ? You think CCP has something special with Dust So why haven't they taken advantage of this ?

I'd pay for Legion, I have paid for Legion, I bought a bunch of AUR back when Dust still looked to have the potential that Legion is apparently going to get.
However, having stated that, I would pay a subscription for Legion if I could pay with in-game cash similar to Eve.

Nah.
I as going to just initially say, "If it has quality content, sure."
But when I think about it....
Legion is going to be updating overtime. So what I spend $60 on at first won't be the same thing another player spends $60 on two years from then. It's going to have more content, a bigger and more developed playerbase(talking a meta culture that's much more developed than what's in Dust right now), a much more hyped up game, and less actual risk.
If you're talking subscriptions. I'm still iffy. Many players are already EVE players. Because they'll be splitting their time between EVE, Legion, and Valkyrie they'll have less time to play on each subscription and I'm sure most of them would be sour about that. One solution I could see is making it so that the subscription is universal, yet optional for Legion and Valkyrie. It would be effective if you offer $5 subscription onto the $15 that goes for EVE, for an optional subscription to both Legion and Valkyrie. Of course, you'd then have to worry about the enhancements that the subscription gives but I think that won't be that much of a problem once it's figured out.

Well then your in luck as it will be coming out on the PC only #doyourhomework
As iv said else where I would happily pay a 10 pound sub (price of two pints out here in Ch (swizerland) but the best deal would be to budle it with Eve so your sub covers both games it would draw a larger market into both out of preseaved value

Premium should include both passive and active boosters as always on, some aurum to spend in the store and some perks (like an upgraded quaters) |

Well some people act like they have never spent money on a video game before and that may be true, their parents may have. I personally don't mind paying for a product that I enjoy. If I didn't jump in the dust bowl so late in the game I would prob spend on this game as well and may still do so if something catches my eye.
Unless people somehow got Destiny for free there is a perfect example of people spending money on a game and it doing well despite noticing how many people have something bad to say about that game. The thread was only idea to get imput on if others would think CCP would generate more income and thus being able to afford to hold nothing back in developing a more polished game from the start giving people less to grip about.
On the flip side I guess like the other FPS titles come out with a new game annually or at least ever other year and force you to go buy the next in line to keep playing as well as dividing the playerbase for the ones who cant afford to move on to the next game, the current model of doing things seems to work out better for allowing a game to grow and last instead of dying when the next title releases. I'm starting to see that if Legion comes out once, and the one title gets updated and patched instead of Legion 2.3.4. etc, to then have to go out and buy, the current model of doing things does seem to work a little better.
I guess it seems I answered my own thread, or not, who knows. I'm just a crazy old man who plays too much videos games |
