I don't know CCP's finances, but I bet if they had a way to pay a larger crew of button pushers, put the finest polish ever on Legion, came out with exactly what they, as well as us players envision, they could charge as much as any other popular title and people would eat it up just like Destiny. This free game is nice, but imagine the possibilities. Dust has more to offer than the other shooters but doesn't get the spotlight it deserves because of errors that could have been corrected long ago if they took a different approach. Were the profits from Aurum, in any way comparable to what might have been made if it were comparably priced to other games?
I remember them coming out with Destiny pre-orders like 2 yrs ago, I transferred my Destiny pre-order to The Last of Us, thats how long ago they were collecting money for development.
I'd sure as hell, would pre-order Legion and pay for it ike any other game If they can bring this to life. They have a game like no other and I want to see this game get the attention it deserves. |

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I put battlefield 3 in yesterday and every now and then I'll play COD with a friend I can't get to play Dust. I used to really like Battlefield, as well as COD. Playing battlefield yesterday was horrible, controls felt slower, worse than a heavy, yadayada etc, not gonna gripe, but each title, expansion packs and all I have over $100 in each. Everyone looks forward to these games each year and will pay $100+ for each title before they bring out the next polished turd, that again they fork over tons of money. All the while Dust in in the shadows. Outside of this niche group of people, who has heard of legion? Dust is a far better game than both of those blockbusters. It has the potential to be the king fps. If CCP charged for the game, and brought in the money for a larger team of developers and in your face marketing, I believe it would succeed just as those other games.
Its like Motocross, and privateer riders against factory riders, only thing that sets them apart seems to be funding. They bring pro level quality, but they are paying out of pocket, instead of landing that factory ride.
Maybe I'm not explaining it properly, I just woke up and coffee hasn't taken effect yet, but you gotta be smellin what i'm steppin in.

Well some people act like they have never spent money on a video game before and that may be true, their parents may have. I personally don't mind paying for a product that I enjoy. If I didn't jump in the dust bowl so late in the game I would prob spend on this game as well and may still do so if something catches my eye.
Unless people somehow got Destiny for free there is a perfect example of people spending money on a game and it doing well despite noticing how many people have something bad to say about that game. The thread was only idea to get imput on if others would think CCP would generate more income and thus being able to afford to hold nothing back in developing a more polished game from the start giving people less to grip about.
On the flip side I guess like the other FPS titles come out with a new game annually or at least ever other year and force you to go buy the next in line to keep playing as well as dividing the playerbase for the ones who cant afford to move on to the next game, the current model of doing things seems to work out better for allowing a game to grow and last instead of dying when the next title releases. I'm starting to see that if Legion comes out once, and the one title gets updated and patched instead of Legion 2.3.4. etc, to then have to go out and buy, the current model of doing things does seem to work a little better.
I guess it seems I answered my own thread, or not, who knows. I'm just a crazy old man who plays too much videos games |
