Most of what I read on this forum and see on youtube and even hear on my headset when I squad with randoms - is how much of a crutch everything is. How everything is OP and anyone using anything is just on easymode..
So the questions are
What's a real man's fitting? (or a real woman's fitting)
What do I have to use to NOT get laughed out of the game for being a fumbling child?

A Plasma Cannon is a real mans fitting. The thing takes so much skill/luck to use that you can't get mad when you get killed. |

As far as I am concerned, if you not using a burst HMG, Thale's sniper rifle, or combat rifle you are not using a crutch.

F*ck everyone else and be what you want to be, people can ***** and whine about what you use and what you do, but in the end it all boils down to jealousy. You can follow my line of things and get a proto rail rifle and max it out (which is a very good choice btw) it's not 'OP' as people say theres many ways around it but when you get used to it, its a killing machine.
Get a scout suit cos if you dont you'll be shotgunned all the time, i use a cal scout atm but im venturing into the min assault cos its a beast, also i do video's on pretty much every weapon to show its killing capability my Channel is 'SAXON ON A MISH' check it out on youtube :)
But yea if you hear anyone swearing at someone its cos they have skills not cos a weapon is op, this game is pretty balanced atm. I would say so (many people will disagree). I have been playing for over a year now and have gained alot of skill points and so have alot of the current playerbase, this is why people say things are op cos people have proficiency and damage mods on their weapons. like i have proficiency 5 on my rail rifle with 1 7% damage mod which gives me an additional 22% of damage to every bullet. Its not op its time and effort.
But yea you dont have to get anything out what im typing i just hate the fact everyone calls things op when it is just skills.

Yup Thale's is the only one that makes me spitting mad. The rage when you get one sliming up a battle is very very real..

Cool, I will check out your youtube stuff. After joining I switched to rail rifle pretty much because everyone said it was OP. As soon as I did it apparently got nerfed. But I stayed with it and I completely agree - it's a killing machine and suits my style down to the ground. I appreciate what you're saying - that nothing is OP it's all about skill.

I think in DUST the word overpowered is a euphemism for "strong enough to generally negate my run in swinging style of play". Anything that can one or two shot you, without giving you sufficient time to react, coupled with any automatic weapon that burns you down before your brain can calculate hp loss vs plan of action. Add in vehicles, all vehicles for low sp, the strongest vehicle for mid sp, and for suits think anything that has too much hp to run straight in swinging, or anything that doesn't show up on radar.
So basically, everything save 1 or 2 things from any given category, or anything that doesn't accommodate the typical clones inability to think on the fly, try a new approach, or not be an end all be all for any situation encountered in the field.

Well, I recently skilled into the Minmatar Commando to see if I could go positive with something other than an HMG. I did not go Gallente Commando because I am still not man enough for the Plasma Cannon. 
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

To be scrub free you must use a shield tanked and or myofib stacked minmatar medium frame (not the logi or the assault just the medium basic frame) with a flaylock pistol and a ion pistol. Even the AR is much too good to be considered NON crutch....

OP **** exist in this game previous poster, there are OP fits in this game and they usually entail the following:
Combat rifle
Burst HMG
Caldari and Gallente (when brick tanked) scout
Rail Rifle isn't too bad. It's just far too easy for all ranges
Scrambler Rifle with a turbo controller
and redline anything is scrubby, especially at the very start of a match and youre winning.
In review, here's what's not scrubby:
Commandos
Assaults
Heavies using the heavy weapons (not the burst)
Not Spamming heavies
Logistics
Plasma Rifle
Mass Driver
Assault Combat Rifle
Assault Scrambler Rifle
Plasma Cannon
Knives
Amarr and Minmatar scout
all sidearms
Flux Grenades
I could go on, but that's just an example. A lot of things in this game aren't too bad at all. It's just those few items and tactics that exist in this game that skew everything off but people will always be there to defend their crutch, Duvolle Tacts, Laser defenders and Flaylock apologist all depended on the crutch and fought tooth and nail on the forums to say it's not OP When in retrospect, we all know those items were the definition of OP.

The CR operates at ranges that it really should not be dealing that much damage from.
The CR does crazy damage to armor as it is now and is about to get buffed.
The CR is a favorite of scouts which bring their own rage.

Your mistake was thinking that anything in the game takes skills...dropship flying and PLC are about the only things where a amount of skill is needed...besides that every gun is just aim and shoot and stay in your range...not that hard unless you f'ed up your controller and now it sticks to a certain side.

I run a minimum HP gal scout with a plasma cannon, prox mines, a toxin SMG and AV nades. Fun if you don't mind a few extra deaths.
Your game f'ing sucks, but I'll still play it, damn you! Turns out I wont.

Most people claim something is easy mode and OP even though they never tried it before.
For instance I used to think nova knives did too much damage until 10 days ago when I started using nova knives. I realised then that using knives is not easy and gets me killed more often than if I had an smg. I also realized the time it takes too flank an enemy, close the distance, charge the knives and kill the target is much longer than just killing them with my rifle.
I know so many heavies that claim shotguns, knives and REs are too strong but they don't take into account the time it takes too get into range to use these weapons. I also know heavies that say scouts are OP yet the few times they actually scout they do terrible. Yet as a scout, when I step up into an hmg heavy I **** face. It's interesting how that works out.
Gun control is not about guns...it's about control.
The only way to ensure freedom is by having the means to defend it.

LR and SR gives the best overall capacity for infantry killing. Gallente and minmatar for AV and caldari for ganking snipers. |

i think one of the 'safest' suits is an ADV gallente assault M/I running an Exile and Toxin SMG with packed AV nades and a standard nanohive.
its a nice balance between defense and offence, you can't be done for nade spam or 'OP' rail rifle use, you're using a rifle which can be out dps'd by pretty much every other weapon ingame (including sharp sticks and harsh language) and you're not farming points by sitting in a rep hive camping noobs as they run past you.

In CQC is still does 70% efficacy (which is still 900 dps) at 15m and 40% efficacy at 0m, you don't realise how powerful the buffs made it

F*ck everyone else and be what you want to be, people can ***** and whine about what you use and what you do, but in the end it all boils down to jealousy. You can follow my line of things and get a proto rail rifle and max it out (which is a very good choice btw) it's not 'OP' as people say theres many ways around it but when you get used to it, its a killing machine. Get a scout suit cos if you dont you'll be shotgunned all the time, i use a cal scout atm but im venturing into the min assault cos its a beast, also i do video's on pretty much every weapon to show its killing capability my Channel is 'SAXON ON A MISH' check it out on youtube :) But yea if you hear anyone swearing at someone its cos they have skills not cos a weapon is op, this game is pretty balanced atm. I would say so (many people will disagree). I have been playing for over a year now and have gained alot of skill points and so have alot of the current playerbase, this is why people say things are op cos people have proficiency and damage mods on their weapons. like i have proficiency 5 on my rail rifle with 1 7% damage mod which gives me an additional 22% of damage to every bullet. Its not op its time and effort. But yea you dont have to get anything out what im typing i just hate the fact everyone calls things op when it is just skills. Thanks 'SAX' says the biggest crutch dude ever just kidding i have never seen you play but i would say anything with the words 6kin in front of it is a crutch and caldari scout nubs.

Makes you miss allot I run lr on ds3 only and as for op no its not the lr in its area is balanced with the other long range guns...The lr and tack ar..are the only non broken long rang rifles ...Both the scr..and the rr work in cqc as well as medium and long range .Unlike the lr or TAC ar...

Commandos raise Raw DPS for the primary weapons.
Having more "Bullets per magazine" does NOT raise DPS. Period. Ever. It raises your damage potential while retaining the same DPS, and minimizes "downtime" by prolonging the period between reloads.
If the user can aim better, the 10% DPS increase will win the firefight, if the opponent is in a prolonged firefight then the 25% increase in ammunition per magazine will be better for a firefight.
DPS =/= Magazine Size =/= Alpha
Three very different things for very different situations.

Commando 1*1.1*1.07 = 1.177
Assault 1*1.07*1.0581*1.0364 = 1.17378 (~1.174)
so for 1/3rd of the fitting cost of the upgrades, the commando still gets about +0.5% over the assault
Generally i wouldn't use the 3rd damage mod on the assault and put something homosexual like a shield extender on, i dont think a 3% damage boost after stacking really warrents 9 PG, so i normally put something else there, at which point the commando gets +4% over the assault
now factor in the fact that the commando's single superior damage mod also applies to a 2nd weapon, its just an extremely efficient suit if you can get over the god awful speed
and yes, the 20 rounds at the end of the heat capacity is tonnes more powerful than 4%, but it takes a good amount of time for the the damage to ramp to that level, generally shield suits are dead long before that point

It's not. BEtter imo.my last 20 rounds are worth more than the commando dmg. Commandos raise Raw DPS for the primary weapons. Having more "Bullets per magazine" does NOT raise DPS. It raises your damage potential while retaining the same DPS, and minimizes "downtime" by prolonging the period between reloads. If the user can aim better, the 10% DPS increase will win the firefight, if the opponent is in a prolonged firefight then the 25% increase in ammunition per magazine will be better for a firefight. DPS =/= Magazine Size =/= Alpha Three very different things for very different situations.
20 extra rounds on lr do in fact raise it's dps because it a dmg over time gun ..those last 20 rounds deal more dmg

Yes, i agree with you the assault is better with the 20 extra rounds
the problem is those 20 extra rounds are at the end, the small extra damage from the commando plus the bonused 2nd weapon is much more powerful vs targets that dont need those +20 rounds (non heavies basically)

F*ck everyone else and be what you want to be, people can ***** and whine about what you use and what you do, but in the end it all boils down to jealousy. You can follow my line of things and get a proto rail rifle and max it out (which is a very good choice btw) it's not 'OP' as people say theres many ways around it but when you get used to it, its a killing machine. Get a scout suit cos if you dont you'll be shotgunned all the time, i use a cal scout atm but im venturing into the min assault cos its a beast, also i do video's on pretty much every weapon to show its killing capability my Channel is 'SAXON ON A MISH' check it out on youtube :) But yea if you hear anyone swearing at someone its cos they have skills not cos a weapon is op, this game is pretty balanced atm. I would say so (many people will disagree). I have been playing for over a year now and have gained alot of skill points and so have alot of the current playerbase, this is why people say things are op cos people have proficiency and damage mods on their weapons. like i have proficiency 5 on my rail rifle with 1 7% damage mod which gives me an additional 22% of damage to every bullet. Its not op its time and effort. But yea you dont have to get anything out what im typing i just hate the fact everyone calls things op when it is just skills. Thanks 'SAX'
