After all the hot fixes. Why would they be changing so much about the game and not offer a final respect they did say after the hotfixes were done they were not changing anything else about this soon to be COD514.
Why would they give you a respect in the middle just to **** up what you speced into just to change that and have you begging for a new one?
If for some magical reason they don't offer a final respect for the game after all this is done I among most will definitely be calling sony

When the hotfixes and patches stop coming, pack it in, the servers will be coming down shortly thereafter.
This is the tweak that doesn't end, yes it goes on and on my friend... Someone just started tweaking it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue fixing it forever just because this is the tweak that doesn't end... |

Oh no they are worthless trash and this guy does not even play dust. He is an eve guy. They specifically said After all hotfixes they will only be fixes small bugs and patches here and there (showing me he does not play at all)
He is just probably a guy on eve all day that used his even power to win a spot in the election so that win legion comes out he can have influence of that game. Very little dust time on his end.
Shows you he is actually the one who does not know what the **** he is talking about.

This is hilarious. Also wrong. I've been here long enough to see a dozen different games proclaimed as being when everyone would leave and DUST would die. And yet we have more people playing DUST now than ever before.

It's not my playerbase, it's CCP's playerbase. I am a member of said playerbase. My job is primarily to convey useful feedback to CCP, not to present information to the playerbase (that's CCP's job). I do try to correct some horribly backwards views about the game, but that's me being me as a player more than anything else.

Actually, I really only use EVE right now to manage DUST channels for my alliance. I haven't undocked in... a long time. My personal view that I've professed in person in front of Goons, and not gotten punched for, is that DUST is a better game than EVE has ever been.

No, he's not a representative of CCP. Of the Dust community and ultimately that of Legion, yes he is, but he is definitely NOT a representative of CCP. That company has its own set of representatives for that purpose. Also, we are not the CPM's player base. We are CCP's player base.
I'm also an Eve Online player since 2008 but I've also been playing Dust since Closed Beta and still do.

I would just like to convey a helpful attitude towards people on the forums, yea a lot of us have been around for ages but there are always users that are new, they could probably do with a little more explanation at times. Oh well no love lost.

Soraya hits the nail on the head with this post... though I'm not certain in the way he intended 
You see, respecs would allow players to alter their skills to be better in line with the current meta. For some players, yes, that means speccing into the fitting most likely to wrack up a high K/D. For others, it's having the most efficient logi fit, durable sentinel, or sneaky scout...
The point is, for a brief moment, the player (that's you and I) will have what we desire most. That's BAD for CCP's bottom dollar. Players who "win" at Dust 514 will leave and with them goes CCP's income.
So what does CCP do? They move our target by manipulating the metagame. What can't "win" when the new FotM changes constantly. I've heard the term "perfectly unbalanced" before and I think it aptly applies here.
TL;DR - We won't get respecs because that will cost CCP money. When CCP can charge us for the ability to respec then we can respec every day if we want.
This is about money. That's it. Not player retention or "Respecs r hard u guyz".
He imposes order on the chaos of organic evolution...

Here's whats going to happen. After echo they'll check if anything needs to be changed and if one category such as the dropsuit command doesn't need a change they'll give us a respec and so on If this happens I could literally see the future. However, If they don't give us a respec then that's sad

Isn't one of the "CPM Operation and Function" points that CPM should bring up pain points to CCP? Like for example, the extremely high desire for respecs since hotfixes keep updating our metagame.

Hot fixes have been in high demand since closed beta, this is not news. And compared to last year around Uprising, the tears for respec is very low.
And you're right, CCP sucks at sharing information. But I doubt they themselves are sure what to do with Legion hanging around. |

I actually don't believe marketing plays into this decision at all. The same guys developing your hotfixes would be the same guys who would have to stop doing so to go refund your SP.

I wouldn't get my hopes up either. Dust was supposedly greenlit and look how it turned out. Whatever information they do release always causes hype which leads to feelings of disappointment and regret. Like that girl with the std who knows she has it but continues to screw everyone in more ways than one.

As for players who are actually still playing. You can look at the "BPO thread". 700 total (generous) visit the forums! If Dust had such a HUGE player base like everyone says, fanfest 2013 would have gone much different!
I AM a Vet who ALWAYS enjoyed the forums more then the game! Where else can you laugh and make fun of other peoples pain?
You kiddies have fun! Ill sit back and watch.
As for the "respec", they can keep it! I get them ANYTIME I WANT in Defiance. |

This is my thinking and even understaffed , three months is a long time ... just give it a week and if people don't file within that week , then too bad ... it was announced ( hopefully ) and you had your time .
It can be done and we can move on and it might be the break that is needed and a chance to give attention to other things to help the process .
Delta should come with a SP or infantry SP refund so that a campaign for one is not needed .

I wouldn't say that but one thing about Dust is , you felt like you understood what to do ... it pointed you in the direction , you might not be fully equipped ( rightfully so ) but you understood , don't get killed .. hack the null cannon and play team first .
Defiance is nothing like that and for the most part , that game without help like a squad and such is useless .
Not to say that's bad but in Dust I can lone wolf and still be apart of something if I'm on a team that thinks in term of team and not squad but squads or a squad can win a game for you .
I just felt like I didn't have too much direction while playing defiance and I'm not ashamed to say I need that , just point me in the direction and let me go .
They need to work on tying the character into the storyline better .
Even though Dust needs work in that aspect , you can't avoid feeling like your apart of New Eden .

I understand what your saying but I also feel like you don't feel like that either , not saying the past CPM was bad but I just feel like your group will get a lot of good things done but that's just me .

I do really urge people to send me awesome feedback and suggestions, and send me a link to a thread if it needs to be looked at or answered or what have you. Bear in mind 98% of what the CPM does is entirely behind the surface and will never be seen by the rest of the playerbase. My commentary has nothing to do with my views on our productivity.

I feel like personally , for those that don't really forum and not understand ... that's a different story but for those of us that do , I can't say that I believe that any of the current staff of CPM's will have to worry about that .
I hope that we can all stay active and start to give positive feedback , even if we're critique we can do it in a positive way that will help the situation get resolved instead of overdramatizing the ordeal .
I'm sure I'm not alone in how I feel and even more about the current CPM .

Of course it is hard for any game to achieve 100% perfect balance. The thing is the vast majority of multi-player competitive games try to limit how much they change things around in one go, this way the devs and player base can watch the meta change and see how things go.
They certainly do not start drastically changing roles left right and centre. Like others have said, we were told about this "10 year roadmap" yet we never saw any of it, even still I feel there is no real direction in the hotfixes, just random seemingly good changes.
I am happy we are getting anything. That doesn't change the fact of this threads existence..... keep adjusting things so much and people are naturally going to ask for respecs.
Balance does not necessarily equal changing roles.

I have played allot of games that were balanced spot on my favorite was LOST PLANET 2 There was 1 gun that was bs but who cares.
Nothing in that game was Over powered unfair or unbalanced to its counter part. It was always Skill vs Skill not SP vs SP, and this was made in 2009.

The choices you make don't mean anything when CCP changes what those choices mean at the drop of a hat.
I mean seriously, they only give a dropsuit SP refund when they change most things about all the dropsuits? You need an entire rethinking and reworking of how you want to do things. That would necessitate a full infantry respec. |
