Unless you have a really bad criminal record, getting a gun is easy.
You need to be a member of a gun club and shooting range and also have adequate storage, Also, anyone can buy ammo who is of the correct age.

Change the law to : the right to bear arms only to competent people :) most gun crime or gun accidents are caused by people being idiots. Most of those homicides are due to gang violence and yes we still have a lower crime rate than most countries.
