"BRADRIC NO PLEASE BRO WE LOVE YOUR POST, BUT IF YOU TAKE AWAY MY REPAIR TOOL I MIGHT GET ON MY GUN AND KILL YOU!!!".
Sorry logibros, better now and done then further down the line?! So here goes.....
You know how you sprint to the supply depot to hack it, but it's already 3 mercs hacking away....... so you see where this is going right?
PAUSE FOR THE CAUSE
Now I get it guys, I do. "The logi-train", as it has been so accurately dubbed, is a desperate response to the "assault scout"?! Many heavies and logis have found themselves fully spec'd into their dropsuits, only to be outgunned, outpaced, and getting demolished?! Scouts are OP! Assaults have gotten a buff, and now their back with a vengeance! What else are you supposed to do?
I won't batter you with what you should do to adjust because you have done that already?! You did the only thing you could do in your current situation. You won't win any PC battles..... or battles in general outside of ambush, but you will protect your wallet from the horde of OP scouts bolting around you with every weapon in the game other than heavy weapons?! (another thread coming on the scout mayhem! I got you bro!) What I will do is suggest that you get some assaults in your squad. We can help you out with the scouts now!
ON TO MY REPAIR TOOL PROPOSAL
I propose a limit of 2 rep tools per individual repped! If you're using the rep tool you yourself can NOT be repped at the same time! Also, I propose a rep tool overheat....... ~waits for the kitchen sink to be thrown~ ........ nothing steep guys chill!
However, the practice of walking around strapped to a heavy the ENTIRE match is ridiculous?! This will make nanocircuitry more prevalent, and stop the ridiculousness of this fiasco?! If you could here us on comms as we die laughing discussing which remote to use lmao,..... but I digress.
Open to suggestions from the logistics community, and that's what I love about the forums, but this practice of following some dude around like a prison girlfriend is...... well anyway something has to give.
I would suggest an overheat, and rep tool limit over everything else. A good logi can work with this if he is a skilled shooter-logi! He can gun just fine, but when needed can rep his mates while managing overheat! He should use nanohives and nanite injectors as well if he intends to work with his heavy counterparts.
SIDE NOTE: I am also advocating for all equipment to be capable of being fluxed! YES ALL! Scanners, rep tools, and CLOAKS! Cloaks especially, since currently they have NO COUNTER whatsoever?! I would suggest different levels are effected differently too i.e.:
You need proto flux grenades to flux proto tools, for example. So no one can just mass basic flux grenades to uncover all cloaks, and proto cloaks recharge quicker from being fluxed than basic cloaks. This would force those tanked basic gal scouts to actually know what a profile dampening mod is?! Scouts will have to use the mods as they were intended again. (I also believe scanners, at proto level, should scan basic cloaked scouts with no dampening mods or skill, but that's again another thread.) We won't rag scouts here just yet. They know they are OP.
Overheat for rep tools should be over time. Nothing crazy, and higher lvl gear should be able to stand up better in really tough situations. The same way a scanner has to charge back up is the same way a rep tool should have to cool back down.... but with a slower build up. It should also be able to be fluxed when out ( level specific for flux grenade and rep tool). Scanners, once fluxed and depending on the level, should be immobilized for a period of time(depending on the level). If they are deployed though is the catch. If you are fluxed while using a scanner it should be immobilized, and it's internal engines should have to repair and recharge the tool. It should also have a spool up time resembling the rail rifle. This should also be effective per level. This takes away the "I got a basic scanner so I can scan all cloaked scouts" theory?! No guy! You need a proto scanner you cheap turd?! However, if the tool isn't deployed, scanner or rep tool, it should operate just fine after the user is fluxed. Just like nanohives! (Keep the snapshot effect of the the scan radius it works)
Remember were here to find a balance between roles! All ideas, cutsheets, and opinions welcome! I would love to hear what "sensible" ideas or thoughts you guys have on this?

I hate to break it to you, but the logi train has been around longer than, as you put it... "OP scouts" Way longer. I'd wager a lot of scouts even carry RE's specifically to get rid of these trains quickly before they get mowed down by the double repped HMG sentinel.
I digress though, an overheat option, or capacitors on the repair tools could be interesting. It would make logi work less of a point and hold and force players to think tactically when to actually apply those reps. Scanners though... Why would you want to nerf something further that's already only truly useful at proto? Those poor things need a buff... my advocating for such has nothing to do with the fact I miss knifing ballerinas...

I suggested the ability to scan cloaked scouts being added (depending on the levels od scanner and cloak), but the tool would need some cons as well. Balance is the goal here guys remember that.
And yes, the logi train is old school..... may it go back to the grave it crawled out of?!
thank you for your comment! o7

Most scouts can be scanned with higher level scanners (Assuming they're not rocking multiple profile dampeners) though generally, it seems like the only ones who scan the average scouts are the proto Gal logi suits. Before 1.8, I would have been fine with a single suit being able to take advantage of the scanner to get scouts who were decked out with profile dampeners, but not, scanners are a bit too weak to need that kind of investment and even with only a single dampener, I rarely ever see the message "You have been scanned". It's generally "Scan prevented" or no scans at all, because people just don't use them that often anymore. Short scan times combined with small windows of vision and long cooldown times don't make for popular pieces of equipment.

Here's what I understand the gist of your proposal to be:
a) Heavies should be limited to receiving reps from no more than 2 rep tools at a time - I can see your point but, for one, heavies rolling through with triple/quad reps is not that common, and, two, if there's a squad running with 4 logis and a heavy and this one heavy is moving through everything like an unstoppable force, well that's pretty epic and you have to applaud their team play. That's not necessarily OP. Five players only have one gun firing, and the logis can get got. I say no to this just to give players more opportunities to be creative and adapt to situations.
b) Rep tools should heat up over time and eventually overheat and seize - I think this is a genius idea and I'm totally on board with it, and remote repping is my main gig. If this were the case logis would have to keep track of their heat levels and stay in communication with heavies in order to keep from overheating in the middle of an engagement. It also provides a window for enemies to try to engage when they think the repper is cooling down. It would add another dynamic element to the game. +1
c) Flux grenades should affect scanners and reppers - Great idea. Also adds another tactical element to the game. I think they shouldn't automatically overheat them but should add to rep tools' built up heat (potentially overheating them) and scanners' cooldown time, depending on the meta level of the grenades and equipment. |

Completely agree on the repair tool overheat function and have mentioned it a few times myself. It makes no sense that it the only item that can be used for an entire battle. On top of that having the rep tool needing to cool down builds a back and forth pull to combat. I also believe the core rep tool should over heat at a faster rate making it more of a breaching tool for your heavy then the go to proto rep tool.
In general I would love to see my logi care more about his equipment in general. I would like to see logis have a higher max carried on nano hives and drop links. While cutting the nanites and spawn count on them. Over all this should give you more nanites and spawn counts carried just less on the field at once. This way more of the logi time is thinking about equipment and support then any thing else. Even when playing my logi I feel that most matches come to this.
start of battle 1. drop 2 links 2. find a cozy camp spot 3. 2 triage hives 4. umm rep or shoot doesn't matter 5. profit
On your note about the flux grenades I would rather see each level of flux do x overheat damage. So they could reduce cloak charge, increase scanner cooldown, and increase heat on rep tools |

I would love to hear what "sensible" ideas or thoughts you guys have on this? Hmmm, logistics loses a sidearm... eHP Speed Regen Are the easiest to kill in the game, even easier than scouts. Logistics is forced to put away its only means of defense to use a rep tool. Logistics is forced into the frontlines of combat with stats that scream "you shouldn't even be on the battlefield". Logistics cannot repair enough innately to survive using a rep tool. Logistics costs more SP and isk wise to run a scout eHP level suit with heavy level speed. Logistics gets 0 benefit from using the rep tool, like damage resistance, just WP which may help them break even at the end of a match.
And you desire to nerf them more? I see the use of the word 'tactics' and it's variants as well, which when used last time got all equipment nerfed.
-1 Logistics fails at running, hiding, tanking,eWAR (because if you use eWAR mods you're still slow and easily killed). Now people want them to be unable to be repped, yet give 0 innate regen buff suggestions. And they obviously want killer bees back...because what am i supposed to do when my deployables are gone and my equipment is all on cooldown? Stand around with my thumb up my ass?
If you want to completely annihilate logistics and erase them from the game this is the way to do it.
I for one would biomass and never look back if the only support suit in the game gets nerfed anymore than they already are.And i would consider this a major nerf.

I've got a compromise.
I'll accept an overheat on the rep tool...
If every suit but logistics loses their equipment slots. Except scouts, they keep 1 and it HAS to be locked to cloaks only.
That would be a reasonable trade.
Gimp logistics equipment,strip others.
Win-win.
Afterall if i can't be repped, someone has to be willing to die for me.

Yeah.
I don't even engage in this "logi-train" behavior, and this proposal negatively affects me for no good reason. I run around with my reptool out almost 100% of the time, healing people all the time, jumping back and forth between a dozen people, healing 1000s of HP without reward, all because I don't want to shoot. (I have a commando and sentinel for that)
Overheat so I can wait for a cooldown? Why? Because some people engage in an easily counter-able logi-train? Break my playstyle because you don't like someone else's?
Sorry, but this is not something that I get can behind.

OK!
I mean i'm not nerfing the logi at all, but ok. Really don't see where I have nerfed the logi at all? In fact I really don't understand why the logi doesn't have the scout regen? Don't agree with nerfing the logi one bit. I'm refering to the tools we all use! After all, I can put a rep tool or scanner on scouts, assaults, commandos, or logis.

This isn't a movement to nerf the logi and yes a few things should of been brought up to make us better while also imposing this. This is mostly talking about stopping the "heavy" leash. This also brings in a level of tactical decision making and not a way to lessen the logi role so lets talk about some things that could make you better.
1. increase speed. The logi can either be on par with their assault brothers or switch movement speeds with them. I don't think we need to have the same amount of HP but we do need to have tools for survival.
2. insure equipment CPU/PG cost of advance and proto variants create a fitting choice for non logi suits. The average non logi should be using basic/adv equipment.
3. With number 2 we should have to make a choice on our weapons and CPU/PG fitting changes to our suit should make it a choice on if we carry a better weapon or equipment.
4. increase the max number of nano hives and drop links carried. At the same time the nano hives should have less nanites and drop links less spawn count. Over all I see this being a buff as the total amount of nanites carried and spawn count carried will increase while slightly lower the amount on the field at one time. It would also allow you to drop a rapid succession of triage hives or drop links to help your team push the front.
5. Allow the logi to match the assaults shield regen rate. Logi already have a shorter delay then assault. For most suit this would be an increase of 5 hp/s not huge but noticeable.
6. if all else fails to bring the suit up to bar a small HP buff may be needed with the current metagame. |

What that ALWAYS means on these forums is "nerf equipment".
It isn't a tactical decision to rep an ally through combat to keep them alive to fight longer? Keeping the best killers alive ensures you win via clone count. Keeping the worst alive will (hopefully) train them to get better.
Isn't it a tactical decision to set aside your own weapon so that another, better weapon may take its place for longer? Isn't it a tactical decision to follow this person into the thick of combat so they aren't overwhelmed?
Yes,yes it is.
It's simply amazing how quickly any nerfs to support become 'tactical',yet any nerfs to killing become 'detrimental to the games health' -or- 'limit variety'.
Hypocrites.

This is what I was gunning for! Some sensible feedback! Most of these guys just wanna tie you to a wagon wheel, and flog you for mentioning change smh?! Oh,i don't want to flog you because of change.
I want to flog you because: -Logistics sacrifices ALOT to run equipment and you want them to sacrifice more. -Logistics costs more investment SP and ISK wise than any other suit yet support gets "lolnerf em" more often than the killers do. -You desire to prevent logistics from receiving support through reps, making it the only suit to be so EVEN MORE horribly broken. -To be blunt, your idea is horribly stupid.
If all equipment costs were 1k, at Pro level this would still be a bad idea.
"No support for the support" is dumb regardless of what words you use to make it sound good i.e. tactical.

Logistics is its tools.
And just like logihaters before you,you post your true intentions in your forum topic. You specifically mention logistics knowing this would hit them the hardest, now you feign ignorance saying it targets all suits.
You are a bad liar.

Bradric Banewolf wrote: "BRADRIC NO PLEASE BRO WE LOVE YOUR POST, BUT IF YOU TAKE AWAY MY REPAIR TOOL I MIGHT GET ON MY GUN AND KILL YOU!!!". Sorry logibros, better now and done then further down the line?! So here goes..... You know how you sprint to the supply depot to hack it, but it's already 3 mercs hacking away....... so you see where this is going right? PAUSE FOR THE CAUSE Now I get it guys, I do. ON TO MY REPAIR TOOL PROPOSAL I propose a limit of 2 rep tools per individual repped! I would suggest different levels are effected differently too i.e.: You need proto flux grenades to flux proto tools, for example. (Keep the snapshot effect of the the scan radius it works) Remember were here to find a balance between roles! All ideas, cutsheets, and opinions welcome! I would love to hear what "sensible" ideas or thoughts you guys have on this? itll never happen.. reptools are akin to Remote armor repair in eve.. you would ahve to remove those before you coudl remove the reptool..
PS. i want some of what your smokeing cause you seem like you were high as F when you thought of this

Crimson ShieId wrote:I hate to break it to you, but the logi train has been around longer than, as you put it... Those poor things need a buff... my advocating for such has nothing to do with the fact I miss knifing ballerinas... indeed just today me and another logi were repping 2 sentinels and BOOM a Frisbee RE gets the 4 of us and it was some scrub scout who was also a cloaker :|
as much as i hate to admit it.. we got Rek'D by that scout and his tactics.. which is how scouts should be played.

I addressed logis AND heavies because yes they are the most effected, and I want their opinions the most! The way I titled the thread was to draw their opinions, good or bad.
You sir, in my humble opinion, are afraid of change of any kind regardless of what form it comes in. Like myself, the adjustment to to the scout buff was brutal, and I struggled to adjust. That does not give me the right to come to the forums and crush all the ideas guys come up with that might effect what I'm doing.
I am a gallente assault! However, my bonuses to dropsuits and weapons suck?! So I had to adjust. I used the assault CR as a substitute to the AR because it is a similar weapon with increased dps. I would love to use my AR, and do when I can, but it's still under powered. Assault suits still need more precision, range, and dampening bad, but I won't knock the guys who have new ideas for scouts.
You can't just bash, bash, bash because you don't like it?! Instead, tell me in your opinion why it would or wouldn't work?

Thank you!! You missed the point entirely while everyone else can see how this can potentially be applied. I didn't say it was already etched in stone either?! I asked for thoughts on an idea that would obviously lead to more buffs down the line for logis, and had nothing to do with nerfing the logi! I'M NOT NERFING THE LOGI! Saying that I am over and over doesn't make it a fact. Tell me how what I said nerfs the logi? Nit receiving reps while repping won't cripple you. It just makes you play differently.
If you can't see that fine. I guess I'm not surprised. Tankers wanna be unstoppable, logis, want a safety net, scouts wanna be invisible, and all while in a complete warzone..... right?!

Just to throw this out there guys I think we can all carry a rep tool on every fit but the heavy. How is this suggestion nerfing the logi when it applies to a tool? I think when you guys here overheat you think ScR?! The overheat that im suggesting wouldn't be nearly as severe. In fact a good logi would probably never reach overheat! It will, however force whoever was using the rep tool to communicate with his heavy, and apply the use of nanocircuitry.
I mean if I put one on an assault it works the same, right? The logi has 3 or 4 equipment slots for a reason. Use them!
Also, a suggestion in favor of the actual logistics dropsuit! Since any fit other than the heavy can stick a rep tool on their fit how about a repping bonus for using the rep tool on a logistics fit! The overheat would be more of an issue for an assault, commando, or scout. Not the logi though! He would have an increased rep rate per level bonus! The overheat would then only affect you in really hairy situations. Poor logis would overheat through mismanagement, and lack of tactics and comms. The proficient logi would do well with his rep tool, needle, and nanohives!
Let me know what you think?
