or slow, long range tank cracker. Nothing in between. no mid range weapons, nothing. Just two extremes.
Plasma rifles aren't that much longer ranged than HMGs. At the longest ranges a plasma rifle can do damage, the HMG does only a bit worse. What do you think of light weapon heavies?
unless commando, I never use them with one exception. That one exception is my sniper fit I use to remove redline and tower snipers with a covenant sniper rifle.
Past that I can't see the point. |

CPU/PG nerf doesn't fuss me. Just means I can't protofit my advanced suits and I have to actually put points into fitting optimization.

Gav speaks for himself; not for Scouts. More often than not, Scouts disagree with him.
As usual, Ghost is 100% on point. The only thing I'd add is that Scouts lobbied specifically for nerfs to themselves in response to "assault lite" spam. Here is your evidence; read the proposal; see for yourself.
Scouts did not ask for the Caldari/Amarr role swap. Nor did Scouts ask for near-equalization of ewar potentials (the basis for Charlie's awkward bonus percentages). These were Rattati's ideas.

We cannot control what Gav says, no more than you can control less-than-intelligent commentary by FotM chasers who've opted to run Heavies.

My exact problem is that they don't fulfill that role very well at most points, if the enemy is smart and just walks back a few paces.
I mean, think about the 20 meter thing. It's really not as far as you think. On every capturable point on a research lab, the HMG heavy is vulnerable outside of the lowest point of the map (the pit). He can be raped across the bridge, across the hallway, at any of the outside points... it's not easy to just kill the range from range and then run to where he was within the span of a few seconds. What use does the heavy really serve there?
On a cargo hub the heavy is good at the very center of the map, but even then he has to be supported by other scouts because there are too many ways for a shotgunner to sneak up and drop him instantly because of the numerous entry and exit stairways and ledges to jump from. And the heavy can't chase him down. Hardly self sufficient point defense, and the heavy is again worthless everywhere else on the map.
On a production facility the heavy is good if its 3 points in the city and there is a computer room. Except in reality you need about 2 heavies minimum and a radar man to control that room. And thats before nanohive support. Every other point in the city leaves the heavy exposed to long-range attacks he can't defend himself against. Usually from the saucer or other random high-ground places. And he is again, worthless on outside points.
So does the 20m thing make sense on paper? Sure. In reality, its terrible for point defense. It's good for "extremely situation point defense".

C'mon now. You can't seriously think they aren't a little too powerful these days. Sure. Shut up unless you're going to provide mathematical proof that things are OP. The only way for reps to outstrip any weapon is to have five logis repping at once. In which case... Well, that's what we do in EVE, too. And that only works for some of the weapons.
