There are hundreds of game that when you use a knife you have a way to throw them to kill people at a distance, so why cant we do it in dist?
Does CCP not see how much fun it would be to let us use throwing knives against red dots?
And if they didn't take it out of hot fix charlie, nova knives will do 50% bonus damage to tanks and lavs and ds, so being able to throw them would mean the difference between life and death for a scout with nova knives when the tanks blow up. |

That would require throw animations as well as some new code for recovering your thrown knife. Oh, and new button mapping to throw the knife. CCP can't do anything that would require new assets right now.
You might see it in Legion though.

The screen could just put up some text that says "knife thrown" then "hit for 'x' points" or "miss! try again?"

they are adding 50$% bonus damage against tank and stuff in hotfix charlie ( unless it was removed ) to nova knives.
so yes i do expect if a tank is damaged enough to be able destroy it with a nova knife, but not a tank that has full health unless i was able sneak up on it from behind and get on top of it.

I think you misunderstand, it's not 50% bonus damage, it's 50% of the total damage.
Most non-AV weapons do 10% damage to vehicles before resistances, which usually drops that number down to 5-7% or so, which is pretty much not noticeable.
Nova Knives will now do 50% of their listed damage, before resistances, which will probably be drop down to 30%-37% after resistances. So will you be able to damage vehicles? Yes, but I think you greatly overestimating exactly how much damage you'll be able to do. |

Only people who are trained to use throwing knives are truly deadly, the hand is quicker then the eye, so a knife could be thrown even before you see whats going on. |

I have been the biggest advocate against turning dust into another CoD game, but throwing knives are not just in CoD. Throwing knives are in hundreds of games, even Assassin's Creed they use throwing knives in black flag.
Throwing knives have been in games for as long as i can remember so why can't we have them in dust?
The only thing it would do is make killing with nova knives a little bit easier since you dont have be within 3m to get a kill

In destiny you don't even have to pick up your knife after throwing it, it just teleports back to you, and I assume that's done with 'light', which can also spawn vehicles and teleport you into/out from your ship.

I'd prefer a 'lunge' mechanic, similar to Zero's in Borderlands 2. Massive damage if you hit, but leaves you open with some other mechanic like overheat or something if you miss. Maybe like how the Ion Pistol works now when you charge it.

For the throw command do it like destiny does.Same button but you throw it when you are at a certain distance from the enemy.
