Does CCP not see how much fun it would be to let us use throwing knives against red dots?
And if they didn't take it out of hot fix charlie, nova knives will do 50% bonus damage to tanks and lavs and ds, so being able to throw them would mean the difference between life and death for a scout with nova knives when the tanks blow up.

Next thing you know, you'll want sniper knives! You already got cloaks for christ's sakes. You want to be able to be invisible and throw knives? Quick uncloak, throw knife, quick re-cloak and move on?
If you want to throw knives and be invisible, go find ninja games. I have been the biggest advocate against turning dust into another CoD game, but throwing knives are not just in CoD. Throwing knives are in hundreds of games, even Assassin's Creed they use throwing knives in black flag. Throwing knives have been in games for as long as i can remember so why can't we have them in dust? The only thing it would do is make killing with nova knives a little bit easier since you dont have be within 3m to get a kill
You are correct. However, the gaming mentality of these days hasn't always been there. I don't know how old you are, but you might be above 25 but under 40 so lets just assume that's right. Do you remember when online multiplayer games came around? 75% of people played fairly and with nobility and people were respectful. Do you remember Doom? You could play 4 players online at once and that was incredible!
Hardly no one pulled cheap bs tactics the way they do now. What about Battlefield 1942? Remember that one at all? Very few people didn't have modded controllers or modded keyboard and mouse or used cheap bullsh!t tactics to win. People were better back then.
These days? Cloaks and throwing knives and tanks with triple shield hardeners and redline sniping and the "COD Mentality" runs rampant. 8 year olds are online shooting and cussing in COD because parents don't control them. It doesn't matter about the game mechanic...it matters how it will be used.
Let me tell you a little story....a couple nights ago I was playing Ambush on the Border Gulch bridge, right? I had remote explosives on me....now, I dropped an LAV, drove around back and parked it in the building that sits behind Border Gulch bridge. I got out on foot and snuck up behind the enemy. There were 12 raspberry players standing there having a standoff with my blueberry team. I snuck up behind all 12 of them standing with heavy's logi'd up on leashes and dropped 3 remote explosives.
THEY SAW ME...at the last second they saw me! BUT I was smart and jumped off the side of the bridge and on my way down triggered the remote explosives....BOOM! I got 8/12 of them....kill feed
Michael Epic (Remote Explosive) -name of player- +50 x8
Now...was that a cheap tactic? Some will say yes and others no. HOWEVER, I wandered into enemy territory and took a risk and snuck up behind nearly the whole team and took out a big percentage of it in one shot. It came down to the wire and it was 001 vs 001 and they used up their clone first and we barely won by the skin of our teeth.
So that was a last ditch effort...I didn't run around spamming remote explosives or droplinks or nanohives and driving tanks up your arse in Ambush OMS like everyone else does.
Honor man....so yeah, knives been around a long time but the COD mentality hasn't. Pair the two together and it sucks all the fun and friendly competition out of online gaming. |

Okay here is the problem with throwing knives at what is pretty much a inch thick sheet of metal. It loses most of its power and just bounces off. Now in your hands your using those lovely strength enhanced exoskeleton embedded in the suit. allowing you to literally ram it through. The force of your body behind it being the only reason it gets through. Throwing them would be pointless and stupid. You forget in the games your talking about they A don't wear armor or B it ignores physics and kills them anyway. we don't want stupid in this game so just drop it please. |

well seeing as we can charge up nova knives to hold a plasma charge within the blade why can't we throw them with our using those lovely strength enhanced exoskeletons embedded in the suit. of course to do any real damage it would have to be fully charged to do any real damage and they would only be effective at max 30m-50m max. |

Throwing knives did not start in CoD, I was able use throwing knives in Turok for the N64 before CoD was even created.
Any game that ever had a knife in it had the option to throw them, so why can't we have it in dust? |

You're saying it's stupid and pointless (your opinion you have yet to explain why), yet you're explaining exactly why it would work in a game such as this... I'm confused...

Your talking about a game where everything goes against physics, we can walk on planets with enough gravity to squash a person into a pancake, you fire laser laser beams from guns, you have knives that can hold a plasma charge in its blade without melting, and so on and so forth. So how does being able to throw knives change any of that lol |

they discharge on the first thing that makes contact with the blade end.
Anyone who actually knows what they're doing throws knives by the pointy end(physics. the handle on a combat knife makes a great axis for the blade to spin around instead of throwing it backwards where the handle is causing erratic spin and throwing the knife off target)
So you just melted off your fingers. Good job.

It wouldn't necessarily ignore physics when one possess the technology to counter it ,or it is far beyond our understanding. You can't apply arguments to a game's concept that likely has far surpassed the current human understanding and application of technology... or they possess technology that we do not possess, nor can fathom.
For all we know we have gravity fields planted on these very planets, or the MCC is capable of generating one powerful enough. The suits themselves may have the ability to withstand extreme levels of gravity as well...
In Eve, apparently there are turrets that, in theory, could destroy entire planets... it would be probable enough to assume that they can also manipulate planets themselves.

ok so in all of this theory that pertaining to eve and dust, it's not possible to make throwing knives?

It's the exact opposite. There is no reason why it shouldn't be possible...
