squad share only works for scouts other members dont share passive. HMG is already a close range weapon. Only special variants are effective outside 40m.

Yes lets make the HMG worthless again. Great idea. I can smell those rail rifles on my sentinel suits already.

These idiots run right into my kill range as though charging headlong at a heavy is a winning strategy.
The only way people will stop crying about how powerful a heavy is will be by growing a brain and developing something that can at least pretend to be tactics. Last time i played a couple days ago 5 of the 10 domination matches i was in were won by clone counts. Getting cloned in a dom or skirm is pathetic it means there was no teamwork and you were throwing bodies at the enemy. I have been dominated in matches before and not been cloned out because the team was actually trying to move strategically rather than just running at the enemy and getting blasted. |

Apply this to the end game... PC. In city sockets there are sometimes 2 objectives sometimes 3. All those objectives in the city are in close quarters... meaning up close. So to come out with the win you HAVE to push those objectives, and you can't shoot them from far away because.. again.. close quarters. So I figured having passive squad shared scans remove would make it more difficult for heavies to watch their flank from, and there for, more balanced. This would encourage teamwork and call outs. |

Eh?
No.
Sentinels in general are slow moving meat shields. However we can't turn too fast with that HMG. So out range us (which all rifles can do) and get on our blind side and boom we are fucked. Or grow some balls and rush in with some remote explosives or a shotgun and see who dies first. Our range is fine as is.
As for removing squad shared Passive scan... I run solo most days as I can't be stuffed looking for a squad anymore so it doesn't bother me either way,

Most hevies who get caught in intense firefights will have to back up and hide occasionally. Even experienced, dedicated sentinels will run that heat bar to the redline to kill someone in close when that person can move smartly. The burst HMG overheats too fast and the assault HMG is situational at best because damage mods are still sh*t. So any heat nerf will matter.
The overheat increase will matter less to people who have fully specced into hmg, but HMG level 1 will no longer be sufficient to the task at hand, especially once the fitting nerfs go hot.
But bluntly most people who attack sentinels try to stand and deliver versus hmgs or charge right at us like idiots. The assertion that not being able to kill fatties by running right at them is unfair is base stupidity.
Range nerfing the HMG (again) simply insures that you will see a sharp spike in forge snipers. This is simple fact. We will adjust by swapping to tactics and weapons that do the job.
And the burst HMG will still overheat instantly if you light a fart within 20 meters. |

Well then you sir are an idiot for entering a Sentinel's kill zone (anywhere within 30 meters (31 in Hotfix Charlie)). And again I will say ALL RIFLES CAN OUT RANGE AN HMG!
Stop being a noob and stay out of the kill zone. As for the 5 meters, 2 seconds. Heres a few tips. KEEP MOVING. Standing still will kill you scrub. AIM BETTER. Seriously the amount of shotgun scouts missing me at point blank range makes me laugh.
I'm not saying 'Git gud' I'm saying maybe you shouldn't make so many stupid mistakes and learn how to efficiently take down a sentinel. It's not hard. But here's a few tips for your scrub ass.
If Caldari, Flux grenades are your friends. But like all sentinels, KEEP AT RANGE. Also if he runs around a corner to escape DO NOT PURSUE HE IS RECHARGING HIS SHIELDS IT IS A TRAP
If Amarr, KEEP AT RANGE and BLIND SIDE THEM. Combat Rifles and Rail Rifles work best.
If Gallente, KEEP AT RANGE. The best Gal Sentinels use a combination of plates and rep mods so keep in mind if he runs around a corner near death. ITS A TRAP
If Matari, KEEP AT RANGE BUT KEEP MOVING. Don't underestimate the Minmatar Sentinels, they are faster then the others and can get you into their kill zone faster than you think.

Basically, I said that in the end game, PC, you have to push heavies in close quarters because there is no way to get a shot on them from far away... and even if you could shoot them from far away then they would just respawn by the time you got to the objective to hack it. If you don't push close quarters then you will lose.
So I suggest remove squad shared PASSIVE scans. Keep in mind you will still have shared active scanners. This will encourage teamwork and the use of call outs. |

Don't care about the scan thing. But I think reducing HMG range is pants-on-head r*tarded.
Don't like entering CQC with fatties? Tough ****. Since it's our strong suit we dig in like ticks and force you to come to where we are at our most potent.
We call this "Tactics." Kinda like what happens when you bait a fatty into an open area. He tends to die. |

What does that do for the mechanics while playing the other modes ?
You know , the one's that most of the community do play .
This is part of the reason that this game is in the position it's in now and why it's in a major overhaul now .
You can't balance this game around one game mode and even more so , one that the majority of the community doesn't play .
No knock on PC or those who play but it's just the truth .
You would think that CCP would have given the infantry refund that should have been in 1.8.

I, actually, agree that the range is a bit too much for a HMG.
The passive scans must stay for scouts, though (coming from a solo player). Otherwise, how will we scout for our team? |

1. Agreed that HMG range is too strong, but would advise we wait-and-see how Charlie's changes pan out before suggesting further corrective action.
2. Agreed that removing shared passives would be better for balance, but this point may prove moot should GalLogi scans become the new normal.
