1 The damage profiles need to be adjusted to 100/100 vs shield/armor. Let's face it, we won't be getting racial snipers ever, and this would make them viable against every race.
2 Actual crosshairs instead of a dot or the new circle that has been suggested. Snipers need better tools to be more acurate.
3 After zoomed ih using the left stick to help line up a shot should not cause sway. Using the ds3 requires the use of both sticks to aim properly in every game ever. This i s probably the #1 thing that needs addressed. If this isn't fixed, I have to say the only fair fix would be aim assist added, which I don't think anybody would be happy about. Aiming with only half the tumb sticks is just rediculous.
4 The zoom profiles on all weapons need adjusted with a possible multi zoom function. a. Thale left alone and charge gets the same. These weapons should be the long range killers. b. Tactical reduced to what the charge has currently. This rifle should be used by mobile snipers shadowing their squad/ team. It would also need a clip increase to 7 to perform this role properly. c. The regular sniper rifles (ishukone) should have get multi zoom. This would be make them the jack of all trade weapon. long range but not over the top damage or close range but slower rate of fire than the tac.
5 Small adjustment of the redline would also be fair for some maps. I hate not coming out of the red, but manus peek is a good example of a bad redline. moving the red at least to the tops of some huge maps gives the enemy a fair chance to to get into small arms range. This would not remove redline sniping, but at least would push them so deep in their red they would be unlikely to get more than 2-4 kills on any given map (pretty much pointless).
6 There needs to be incentive to come out of the red for everyone. Have an isk/sp cap that can be earned by time played as we have now but at a reduved isk/sp. Once out of the red your time is recorded and has a isk/SP multiplier. This would reward players for getting somewhere usefull and penalize stat padders.

Hmmm I wonder if the change to the damage profile would really matter that much. Considering the idea is to kill the enemy in a single shot, that means you need to deplete their armor and shields at the same time. Since its a -10% to shields and a +10% to armor, and the enemy has say 100 shields and 100 armor for a total of 200HP, your shot will do 90 and 110 to shields and armor respectfully, for a total of 200. So really the damage profile only comes into play for the difference in armor vs shield HP.
That being said, suits base stats are typically somewhat normalized, and all suits have a fair amount of armor and shields, despite tanking type, with the Amarr being the biggest outlyer. So essentially the difference in armor vs shields is quite a bit smaller than the HP total. Also, because armor tends to have more HP that shields, by normalizing the damage, you gain a much smaller amount of Shield HP damage than you lose Armor HP damage.
So by normalizing, you'll do a little bit more to shields, but a lot less to armor, and since you need to cut through both armor and shields on all suits, in most cases making it 0%/0%, you're actually nerfing the damage overall. |

Forgot a few things: 7 change the hud color so it isn't obscured by similar background colors. You cant kill if you cant see the crosshair placement on an enemy/ equipment.
8 Put intel with in the scope hud. A sniper has to make split second decisions and current information placement hinders intel relay to team/ squad as well as wether or not to engage or save ammo.

True. I didn't do the math but I think changing the percentages vs shields would help too. I just wasn't sure what actual % to add to give damage a slight buff without actual adjusting the weapons themselves.

Let me toss together a quickie spreadsheet for say the sentinels so we can compare damage needed to kill with the -10/+10 and the 0/0. You may be right, but that was the first thought that came to mind. |

Snipers want to be able to kill people, but never get shot at which is problematic, you should be out on the field and able to fight on the field.

Shortening the range of snipers is not the idea...snipers should be able to shoot anywhere on the map to anywhere on map...redline snipers need to be properly rendered and counter sniped it's that simple. Anyone calling for a range reduction does not understand how a sniper works as a force multiplier.

You can be a force multiplier if you want, you just need to be on the actual battlefield to do so. This is a game, and it should be balanced around risk vs reward. Currently there is almost zero risk to being a sniper and you guys all want better and better reward for being a sniper - I'm okay with that, if the risk goes up proportionally, thus a shortening of range so your role is actually on the battlefield, not camped out somewhere 480m in the redline.
You want to 1shot lights, 2shot meds and 3shot heavies? Fine. What increased risks are you willing to take for these strengths?
You cannot have everything.
I agree that the sway and crouching mechanics suck, I'm aware that it's hard to kill things and stuff doesn't render properly and I want all of that to change, but in order to get that change you must compromise on something, and the compromise here needs to be range. Your entire role needs to get out of the redline and onto the battlefield.

best and most important way to fix snipers: 1) increase rendering range when looking down sights so that enemies render to the full range of your weapon 2) increase frames per second so enemies actually provide walking animations instead of teleporting 3) increase quality of battle servers to reduce lag.

The Tactical Sniper Rifle definitely needs a larger clip. It was not used much to start with and with HP creep it has become almost useless against some suits. Can a Tactical Sniper Rifle kill a Brick Tanked Sentinel without having to reload?
7 seems like a reasonable clip size.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.
