And once again, another game company ditches the Australian Market.
Yes, I know we can still play on other servers, still buy stuff, but seriously, when it comes to DUST 514, the latency is keenly felt. Other games are playable on other servers fairly well, but when it comes to DUST, one of the few saving graces was we had our own servers where we'd get 20-40ms latency at most.
Stopping the farming itself would have been a better option that shutting down the servers. Low population could be handled if you gave those of us here trying to promote DUST / Legion a leg to stand on.
I have been in contact with the CCP Community Team several times over the last months trying to drum up support for EVE Down Under, as well as pitching this entire New Eden universe to the Australian Public, and have gotten nothing in return.

Perma-setting everyone to Automatic is a horrid idea.

Not to mention that lots of suggestions have already been made on how to deal with farming (no wps for actions taken within the red zone for example), and nothing has been implemented, save for a idle timer that is easily overcome. I think you dodged a bullet not making it to the CPM Jackal. Do you really want to deal with a company that literally punishes an entire region of players because of what a another group of players do? This is how you rebuild trust CCP? Really? The bad reputation you are continuing to build will follow you to Legion.
I'm more concerned that despite repeated attempts, I still have no word from them on what I can bring to EVE Down Under this year to promote DUST // Legion. I keep getting put off, or directed to someone else who I don't have contact info for. (Subsequently told that the persn I am contacting will contact them on my behalf,, but never seeing any actual indication that this is happening).
Punishing an entire region is one thing, being completely unwilling (and to be honest, dead set) on shooting themselves in the foot when one of the last few advocates for their cause in Australia is desperately trying to drum up support is beyond a flipping joke.

-DUST 514 Development Team Yeah, I am calling a big, fat SHENANIGANS on this post!! Being a US player that has only been around for ~55 days, after I read this post yesterday (07/26) at ~17:00 EVE time, I decided to check out Oceania to see what it was all about before it disappeared. I was thinking that if it really was as desolated as people said it was, then maybe I could use that to my advantage and stroll around the maps learning any intricacies for later play. I logged into Dust and set my server option to Oceania at ~04:00 EVE time and played until 07:00 EVE time on the 27th. This works out to be 23:00 on 07/26 to 02:00 on 07/27 CST (my time zone). I went to bed afterwards and got back up and logged into Dust 5 1/2 hours later. At ~12:30 EVE time, which is 07:30 my time and past the 11:00 to 11:30 daily downtime, I was going to move my server option back to automatic when I noticed that Oceania is no longer listed as an option! What?!?!?! It's NOT the 28th yet!!! Just look when I posted this! Please explain or else I'll continue to yell... SHENANIGANS, I tells you!!! SHENANIGANS!!! SHENANIGANS!!! 
Oceanic Server continually dropped off the face of the Earth. Even for those of us who played on it.
It would happen while we were playing on it also.

Just who was this 'well intentioned' for just out of curiosity?
Those of us who played on the Oceanic Servers are not as deserving to have AFK-free matches as everyone else?
Declaring any server an 'AFK' server is just poor form for the native inhabitants of said server. People did play on Oceanic servers, and not AFK there.
