I believe strafe speed is set to 90% of movement (not sprint) speed. So no, they don't strafe as fast as a scout.

Amarr Sentinel Movement Speed 3.65 m/s Strafe Speed 3.285 m/s
Amarr Scout Movement Speed 5.25 m/s Strafe Speed 4.725 m/s
So the scout strafes over 40% faster. Id say thats a pretty big difference.

Dude I feel you. I get that Heavies should not be able to jump like Scouts can, but I get really sick of those Suicide Uplinks because they stick them in a spot you cant get out of because theres a 12 inch ledge you cant jump over. I dont even care if it consumes all my Stamina to do it, the heavy's awful jump height is overly restrictive and should be increased a bit.

No, strafe speed is locked by the movement speed of the suit an cannot be increased. It can only be decreased by putting on Armor Plates.
Now Heavy Frames and Commandos do have a slightly higher movement speed than Sentinels, but its not significant enough to make them perform like a Scout. In addition the Minmatar heavies are a little bit faster. So there are ways to get a fairly quick heavy, but it doesn't even come close to Scout levels.

there are several factors to think about
1) is the heavy using plates or reps.....no plates means no movement restrictions
2) which heavy are you talking about.....each sentinel suit has a different movement speed......min being the fastest
3) is the scout using plates.....plates equal movement restrictions
4) is the sentinel scoped with the hmg......when using the scope it lowers movement speed even more and makes strafing close to impossible.
i am not a heavy, i'm a scout so im not being partial to heavies at all. especially since i believe the sentinel need to be more balanced as well as the scouts, logis and assault classes. |

Classic DUST noob. Since when do heavies have the same strafe speed as scouts? What you encountered is a heavy using his left stick to move left and right as fast as he could, and you got rekt. Deal with it.
But naaaa... let's QQ and complain about heavies beating up on you. Poor baby. |

The scout is strafing 74% faster then the heavy. If you have problems shoting a heavy that is strafing then your gungame must be horrible. |

For the people in this thread--the heavy does not strafe as fast as a scout in a straight line or a circle, but they change directions at the same exact speed which is what I believe Bor is referring to. That makes their strafe almost as powerful as a scout's.

Though to strafe anywhere near that fast the heavy has to make huge sacrifices and is still vastly outperformed by the scout in that aspect 40% is it no small number and it gets bigger as you stack plates.

ok, i'll bite no they shouldn't be quite as quick....
but it ain't all going your way either.
scouts and assaults shouldn't be jumping around like they got springs in their boots either. in any real warfare soldiers do not jump up and down whilst shooting.
nobody should be shooting from the hip, unless just firing to make others get to cover. all players should be aiming to get the bullets to hit what they want them to hit aka what they are "aiming" at.
in other words you want heavys to feel heavy that's ok but for "balance"
.there should be no hip fire reticule. .jumping whilst shooting should be wildly inaccurate. .scouts should be for scouting not assaulting. .shotguns should require bracing in order to shoot unless on a heavy due to high amounts of kick. .snipers should be able to go prone. .sniper headshots should ohk .heavy armour should protect it's wearer
there are loads more but I've had enough, basically I'm saying that let's just leave this alone or call it what it is... another shot at nerfing the heavy that has only just become useful again. |

Weak thread.
A prototype tanked out heavy suit is devastating within its range. Engaging head on is ill advised.
But honestly, nothing is more OP then a cloaked and fully dampened scout. I was playing around with fitting yesterday and was testing the boundaries of what I could accomplish with my ck.o scout. I was literally sitting in the open, cloaked, watching red dots run all around me and never noticed. I had other ck.o scouts inches from me with no detection what so ever. I was even decloaked at times with red dots scouts running by me facing my direction with no notice....

When you move your stick left to right, there is a slight delay in movement because of the area where the stick is at rest, on keyboards this is not an issue, so it doesn't increase strafe speed, but it does increase how fast you can strafe.

As someone whose Alt is and has been a heavy for about 9 months, I'd say they don't strafe anywhere near as fast as a scout. If you're having trouble hitting them because of strafing, you're probably over compensating when they change direction. If they're strafing with you as you try to dodge and you keep getting hit, it's likely the ridiculously fast turn speed of Heavies that's really killing you.
Personally I think turn speed should be lowered slightly, but I wish there was some way to keep it at current levels within a certain cone from center of reticle...say 40 degrees, and past that your speed drops a certain percentage.
Not new, just new to you.

Boromir. I know you are a scout. I play scout too .Most of the times....
BUt lately i've been having some weird a55 fun with My Minmatar sentinel with 2 Cx Kin Kats.
Do i deserve to move at 7.7 Sprint and 4.20 walk/strafe?
well lets see. I have around 550 Shields and 480 armor. I'm pretty fast and pack a HMG.
But compared to a scout i lack: 2 Equipment slots MOre sprnt speed and Movement speed More scan precision , less scan profile Smaller Hitbox Lack armor rep With 1 ENH shield Energizer i have around 30 shield per sec,so EXACTLY the same i have with my Gal scout. More Rage mails. CLOAKS.
See? Scotus stills have enough tools to deal with sentinels.Even the fast ones.
Sentinles are ok. They are powerful and annoying. Woking as intended.
