I see a lot of people talking about balance issues and that does include me from time to time.
However I put some thought into it and I really do feel that Dust have never been in such a great state as it is now. For the first time since Chromosome I actually prefer the way the game is now VS Chromosome build.
(And trust me I am a BIG Chromosome fanboy)
CCP Keep up the good work, sure there are still a few kinks to iron out in terms of balance (Notably HMG and Assault suit tweaks) but overall I feel Dust is doing great.
Hell the player count is actually increasing at the minute can you believe it! Now we just need to REALLY help new players out. Better matchmaking please CCP to keep those newbies in the game ;-)

Same here, better than it ever has been previously, but try telling that to some of the deluded cun*s that you'll find still hanging about these forums even though dust is a dead game to them. |

By balance I mean, at equivalent levels I.E Proto vs proto - full good team vs full good team etc...
Of course the game still arbitrarily makes the gameplay unbalanced = because it stuffs nooberries into matches VS protostars like those Japanese train conductors cram people into trains in Tokyo!

I agree. With the assault changes, I'm hoping balance gets even better.
My only complaint is hit detection -- which still seems a bit off to me, particularly for fast-moving targets. |

You are not doing it right if you find AV is taking you out easily.<<(By this I mean you must be playing to carelessly) Sure I agree, it only really takes 1 good forge gunner to make a tankers life misery, however adapt your tactics.
If close range with a blaster is not working out, switch to a railgun and snipe. You can take multiple forge rounds, that heavy only needs a single railgun round to the face.
I know its not as simple as that but lets not pretend that tanks are 'useless' they are far from useless.

I have to agree. I have only limited experience using a tank in PC, the last one or two PC battles I have done more recently I was on the ground. In the past it was too easy for a tank to dominate any sort of AV not in heavy cover. Every open area even now is still the tanks playground. Besides there are many team options available with a tank. Have you tried running with small rail gunners Takahashi Kashuken?

So it take 1 AV to now kill it even tho i have to use 3ppl?
That is if i can fit on 2 more small turrets without having to gimp the overall fit because we are not allowed adv/proto hulls with improved slot layout and pg/cpu because thats too OP for infantry to deal with
As for using a 3 turret tank in a PC lolno, not done because its pointless since the 2ppl are better use outside the tank actually doing something at a point |

No you dont have to do anything. Any time I run a tank it is a solo tank - as long as I do not get greedy I do fine. I was just asking if you have tried out the 3 man tank as I have corp mates that do it and it works great. That's all.
By the way a 3 man tank is always going to be more 'squishy' than a one man tank however EHP/REP is not the only form of defence....
Oh by the way I do agree that they nerfed the Blaster with a little TOO much spread, reduce it a bit and there we go. I am also not a huge fan of the railgun range nerfs however I can see why they were necessary for the game.

The thing is, if you look at the changes made between 1.6 and now, I shows just how overpowered just a few specific items were.
1) Hardener nerf (Vehicle Nerf) 2) Profciency nerf (AV Nerf) 3) AV grenade capacity nerf (AV Nerf) 4) Rep nerf (Vebicle Nerf) 5) RE damage (AV Nerf) 6) RE arm time (AV Nerf) 7) Damage Mod Nerf (AV Nerf) 8) Swarm Launcher Nanite cost (AV Nerf)
AV has recieved 2 buff, 1 to AV grenades, 1 to Plasma Cannons, if tanks were balanced loosing 10-15% hardener nerf and 10-15% rep rate bonus, would have made little difference next to all of the AV nerfs.
The fact they have says otherwise.

Agreed. IT's been a long road, and there's still plenty more to tread.
Gotta take a moment to realise that - and hope nothing gets too broken.

Railgun OH nerf Railgun reload nerf Railgun refire nerf Railgun damage nerf Blaster accuracy nerf Blaster range nerf Damage mod nerf Railgun bugs still not fixed Turret prof skill still not working Vehicles removed from ambush
RE proto level buffed RE arm time doesnt matter when infantry uses jihad jeeps so thats a non factor AV nade damage buff
Tanks have had alot more nerfs yet again when compared with AV and now the blaster cannot even kill someone if they are more than 20m away while the railgun still fucks up and i might aswell use a heavy with a FG on it instead |
