Is that it's there to compensate for the low Assault CPU/PG.
But scouts, logis and heavies all get far more CPU/PG than their assault counterparts.
So basically, the bonus gives you what other suits get for free.

Not to mention the Cal/Gal Assault has the least COU/PG of all suits(including other assaults)

The cloak EATS CPU/PG, costs far, far more than any weapon combination you can think of.
So that bonus is worthwhile, IN ADDITION to their excessive amounts of CPU/PG.

At lvl 5 the fitting cost is reduced by 75% though...So that gives it a nice little edge for fitting..

From my experience running a scout and then a assault/commando/logi/sentinel is the state of mind, you just have to switch your play style which I feel most people fail to do when using their assault but that's doesn't negate the obvious help the class needs.

I am not sure inferior is the right word but this comes down to play style and fitting style so I can not argue against you.

I bet it's because a designer took one look at the suits as said
"damn all these cpu and pg numbers. Rebalancing them against the scouts and sentinels is going to take too much time and effort...let's just give the Assaults a bonus to cpu/pg for the weapons they use! That's SO much easier"
Honestly, Assaults should be getting a fitting bonus to shield/armor modules, as those are far more important to Assaults than weapons are.
Or you know, an actual bonus that would make them competitive.

I said this from the start.
The list of bonuses they said they are giving suits pretty much implied that fitting a Light Weapon was going to be much more difficult and cost you much more on your fitting unless you where an Assault class.
Then I looked at the spreadsheet values for CPU and PG on suits and starting making fits and theory crafting... and had no problem fitting light weapons and full proto on every scout, heavy.. Logi even..
So it made no sense at all why the PG and CPU was so low on the assaults to begin with.. how many months later? meh.
it's either that or give them another bonus... which I feel is a huge can of worms. |

Everyone told CCP the PG/CPU and slot layouts on almost all assaults were pitiful when 1.8 was going to drop and they rebalanced every other suit. Tons of people told them way ahead of time that assaults were going to be terrible.
Kind of dumb that only the amarr assault has gotten a rebalance since.

What's funny is, the CPU/PG reduction skill was a decent bonus for all assault suits...except Gallente because it already had that bonus!
So all suits got a decent buff in that regard...except Gallente(it was a slight bonus tho, as it shifted from getting a bonus to only hybrid tech to all light weapons/sidearms)

The Amarr Assault wasn't even rebalanced, it just got an extra slot to have the same slot count as the rest.

All Scouts should have their 2 equipment, and only 1 high and low slot. 5 Hp tops.

I don't think there can be any question at this point that the Assault line is not where it should be.
Personally I'm hopping to see some leveling and buffs applied to the medium frames generally and a refinement and polish pass to the Race and Role buffs of the Assault suits specifically.
