I really like the concept but I think the defender team would have a much harder job than the attacker one, and most battles would easily end up in Domination-like mod :\

I like it but here are my thoughts.
The attacking team should be forced to capture one objective before the other one by utilizing a red line. At first only the first objective is able to be taken and must be to allow the attacking team to even be able to fight for the next objective. It would be more similar to Skirmish 1.0 in this regard and in my opinion would make things more balanced since the defenders would have an equal number of people to repel the attackers.

I always like game modes like this. Players can tell you all they want that the only true measure of skill is the symmetrical combat of the TDM..... that's bullshit.

I would propose that Null Cannon hack speed are decreased for the attacking team, with even lower counter hacking speeds. Even with two speed hackers, it should take enough time for the defense to react if they are in reasonable close proximity. Counter hack should be very difficult, but not impossible.
I think this "mode" (or concept) will also bring more weight to the use of vehicles, as installations (owned by the defenders at start of game) will prevent infantry to just casually entering a base guarded by inactive neutral turrets, as it is today. It will be the vehicles job to take them out.
I would also like a response from CCP if this is possible, but I guess a few things must be changed / fixed for it to be possible. - Allowing different objectives / win conditions for the two opposing teams. - Allowing installations and objectives to have a default owner at start of match. - Allowing dynamic hack behavior based on type of installation and other preconditions.
Actually, if CCP added these three mechanics, all sorts of cool game modes could be invented

MOAR Asymmetric battle types.
Honestly I've never had more fun in a game mode than CS:GO's Demolition game mode.
T Side tries to plant the Bomb by attacking CT holdings. CT Side defends the Bomb Sites from T attacks.
Some maps heavily favour CT side and others T side. It's a matter of using unexpected strategies and getting the right kills when and where you need them that unravels a team and lets the attackers go from strength to strength.

The devs have done a lot with this idea in the half-year since it was posted.
I like this idea. I think you'd need to tweak the hack and counterhack times for balance purpose. It might also be good if the cannons had more than a single hack point, even if it was just another/more arrayed around the same point. That way if the mode is given a much longer hack time, you can get more people in on the hack easier.

I disagree with attackers being able to hack a null cannon permanently to their side. It doesn't really seem fair to the defending side. But the rest of your proposal seems good though. |
