I for one dont, ive seen a lot of corps with K/D requierments and in a game like this, you cant really judge someone on their K/D. Redline snipers, tanks and cloak scout shotgunners are gonna have some really really good K/Ds (with the first one because they were dieing a lot as it is and hiding behind a line of death but meh)
so i feel you cant judge a player by their K/D. Play with them before rejecting them. dont judge on stats that can be "forged" easily
Quit CoD to play Dust, never regretted it, never looking back.

I'd say KDR is even less of a general measure of actual "slayerness" in Dust than in other shooters because of all the whack gameplay mechanics, but it is useful for gauging one's own improvement. I had a .22 lifetime KDR at the beginning of February and it's at 1.2 right now. Went from sniping -> scouting -> slaying, so it's been useful for tracking my progress. That's why I look at my "Weekly" and "Monthly" numbers on the leaderboards--not because I care how I stack up against others right then, but because I'm interested how I compare to myself of a week/month ago. And honestly, I'd kick my old self's @ss fa sho. |

Yah odly...the renown players with High K/d... don;t really snipe in the redline or built their K/D in close quarters shotgun fights.

There's usually a direct correlation between K/D and ISK efficiency, unless of course you use nothing but free suits...
So having a good K/D is helpful, but using it as a bragging right is pretty stupid. Just ignore those people.

As a recruiter I use KDR as a filter. If your KDR is low then you need a good excuse (like being a dedicated minlogi or outstanding AVer). Maybe there are slayers or tankers with very low KDRs that do well in PC but I don't know them.
Anyway, that is only the filter stage. Anyone who gets past the filter has to show us that they didn't get their stats by padding. If we don't know them already this means running some pubs with us and keeping up in terms of kills/WP. |

If my deaths didn't cost ISK I wouldn't care. But unfortunately my Gunnlogi costs more than half a million and my alt runs 50k suits and I can't die more than three times else I break even or go in the red.
So yes I care about my KD. To me, KD=ISK efficiency. Nor do I want to run standard suits that cost 10-20k each because they die too easily and it's not fun dying too much without being able to do anything.

I would say I'm at least mindful of my KDR however I feel it is a meaningless stat for most people. Think about it, when running cheap gear - or doing a different role like you previously talked about in the OP..... what good is a KDR score?
If you are a proto stomper always going against easy militia noobs then the score will not be an accurate reflection of your ability. Similarly, if you are trying to bank up isk and therefore using cheap / blueprint suits, of course you are going to die much more VS protos / proto squads and teams.
At best the KDR score is a rough guide, at best. Generally however it is a quite meaningless number.

I dont care about my K/D. Dont believe me? Just look at my alltime K/D. It's garbage. Why? Its like that because i was the scrub ass blueberry that looked forward to facing the known "big names" in pubs. Did that in basic and advance gear and got wrecked constantly. That and 1.7 tanks. **** 1.7 tanks.

I care more about isk efficiency than my kd. In the early days I would run cheap suits or free suits and act as bait for my squad or make the risky run to flank. So long as I make more than I loose I'm happy. |

I've always found k/d to be a good measure of one's own progress but never a measure of skill.... I mean look at us logis.
this being said having anything under 1.00 kdr is not acceptable because it means you probably have bad gun game and battle awareness... but again this is my opinion... and probably not a very good one, but mine non the less.
so for the most part, no I don't care about k/d |

As long as my kdr is positive i dont give a flux. at the end of the day i am a team player running different roles depending on the situation at the time, which means my kdr will fluctuate. i just wish more people would defend objectives in pubs... that way i might live longer instead of being the only one there.

I look at it this way, if your K/D is 0.06 and you are a logi, you are either a sub-par logi incapable to keeping your team alive or need to find another team to help. |

K/d doesn't matter if you have few kills and few deaths, like under 20k of either. After 20k kills or deaths it becomes difficult to move it so then is when it matters, but it shouldn't keep you out of a corp.

dedicated logi here, wish i had at least 1.00 just to look cool, i think i'm at .90 or something right now. when 200 wp = 1000 sp due to events like these, you kind of just don't give a damn and run bpo/milita for the isk gain. i also think i got an extremely high wp total for a solo player : P
in conclusion: as logi, no not really
