Before the Warbarge was removed, players would have a good amount of time to form squads with others, adjust their fittings, as well as their tactics to conform with who they're facing (ie, if a squad of "Tankers United" is on the enemy team, someone would start the match in an AV fitting).
It also gave players an incentive to purchase AUR suits, as it gave an actual purpose for cosmetics (basically showing off your cool looking suit). Not to mention that it added to the social aspect of the game by allowing fun little "activities" to take place in the Warbarge, such as trapping a friend in a corner
On a slightly related note, I'd also like for the "View Map" option to be added to the NeoCom while in the Warbarge Lobby.
TL;DR: Warbarge Lobbies should be re-introduced because:
- It incentives the purchase of cosmetic gear (AUR Suits)
- It allows players on both sides to better organize and prepare themselves
- It adds to the social aspect of DUST 514

People complained about it taking too long to get a battle...now we just have those with faster PS3's gaining a qualitative start of battle edge.
Warbarges wouldn't help immensely, but they would allow randoms to pick a squad if they so choose, rather than wasting precious start-of-battle seconds.

It definitely helped pair up players. The waiting time encouraged you to form squads. In fact, it might reduce proto stomping.
On that note, I'd like the ability to auto-quit squads after a match, via a setting. I've had instances where I forgot to quit the squad and then was thrown into random matches while re-adjusting my fittings. |

No need to apologize, I'm just showing you that this has been an issue since I brought it up IN FEBRUARY. The more threads, the better :P
These were just two of the threads that I recall...there's at least another half dozen more out there.
It's just that no matter how much support they get, CCP has always ignored the threads. I seriously have never seen a blue post in any of these talking about which side of the fence they're on about the issue.
All we know is that the reason they changed it was because someone at CCP watched a youtube video where some 13 year old kid said "why the heck are we waiting in this room for so long. It's pointless and I haven't figured out what it's supposed to be for...just a waste of time"
Instead of trying to add in a text box saying "use this time to squad up!" or "press select to view team chat" or even better, just adding a flat image texture to the map table so that we can see what map we'll be playing on... they just reduced/removed it altogether for public matches.

i dont think it was a waste if time, hell it was one part of the npe that was actually helpful for new players to learn who their commnity is, it let you know weather to expect a protostomp or a random mish-mash of people, in the case of protostompers we could quit before the batle began which is extreamly useful for new players. this is something that needs to return asap ccp |

7min is enough for me, because i can set up a special fiting for PC, or get instructions from squad liders.
Many Dust players make they fits before search a public contract, so they don't need 7min of Warbarge Lobby.

The lobby modes require the barge in order to give players time to squad up, due to the atrociously long load times of menus in the games. Without the warbarge, no one will squad up because no one wants to dare wasting time on selecting a squad with the ****** team menu. It's a direct countermeasure to protostomping.
It also allows you to see the matchmaking list without the fear of spawning before the list has loaded. Which allows you to exit potential stomps. |
