So, as we are talking about medium sui redesign for Charlie, the major topic has been the assaults, which I don't disagree with, as they are even more lost in the wilderness than logis are ATM.
But, if you ask me, there's no point to only reworking one branch of the medium frames, it's only asking for more balance problems.
First things first, I think we can all agree that some of the logi suits *coughamarrcough* need a slot rework and probably a buff to CPU and/or PG too, it's insane what I can fit on my Gallente scout compared to my Amarr logi.
Since I know the Amarr logi best, I propose another low (like the assault got), being set up as dual tankers makes zero sense. It also needs more PG.
But, aside from basic suit tweaks like the heavies and scouts already got, lets talk bonuses. A dual bonus system for the Assaults has been proposed and sounds like a good idea to me. So, how do you implement this for the logi suits? I see 2 options:
1) A second equipment bonus, either: - A bonus to a second equipment type only that is perhaps 50% of what you get with another suit, so say the Gallente logi would get 1/2 the bonus to rep tools that the minnie gets, and vice versa.
- Or, my choice, a weaker secondary bonus to [b]all[/s] equipment types, perhaps 20-25% of what the primary bonus is. Meaning, at level 5 of an Amarr logi, you would get the equivalent of all 3 other bonuses at level one or two.
2) The second option would be a more defense-oriented bonus, like better base regen or bonuses to reppers or shield energizers. That sort of thing.
Discuss.

As I run Logi about 1/2 the time and use basically all the tools (Nanohives, uplinks, nanite injectors, rep tools), I like option 2. Give a slight bonus to everything with full bonus to the racial equipment.
As for the 2nd one, PLEASE YES! I would love to have the ability to stay alive longer. My Adv. Cal Logi suit can get up to, I believe 450 or so HP (not by the PS so don't quote me). Something to keep me alive a little while more would be greatly appreciated. +1 for both ideas John.

Discuss. Buff all things Minmatar and nerf all things Amarrian, because fck those guys.
Seriously though, I believe the biggest issue in current role balancing is that Gallente get an inherent armour repair (and no one else does). Remove that and you're not seeing 750 eHP Scouts with proto weapons (for example) anymore... Gallente would need to choose either/or for at least one of their many low slots.
Regarding slot changes for Logis, I like my Minmatar Logi as is. I don't know much about the other races other than the Amarr already get a huge bonus by carrying a sidearm, so no new slots for you!
Regarding equipment bonuses, I like the idea of giving each race both an active (rep tools or scanners) and a passive (uplinks or nanohives) equipment bonus with primary/secondary bonuses like you suggested. Maybe like this: Minmatar = rep tool (p) + nanohives (s) Amarr = uplinks (p) + rep tool (s) Gallente = scanner (p) + uplinks (s) Caldari = nanohives (p) + scanner (s)
For the equipment bonus amounts, I think we should take a broader view and include non-Logis in the math to promote (non-slayer) Logi role positioning vs other suits. Maybe something like: Logi primary race bonus = +30% Logi secondary race bonus = +20% Logi non-race bonus = +10% Non-Logi equip bonus = 0%

I'd like it if Logistics suits had better scan precision, It was fine prior to 1.8, but now scouts have a much lower base scan profile. I would say that it is too low.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

Reduce our damage with weapons by 10-20% while buffing or resistance to damage or give us a racially context sensitive regen, then for the general logistics bonus brings equipment almost up to pre-nerf levels(maintaining the cpu and pg usage reduction), then keep the racial bonuses as is. This will bring the logistics class closer to that of a support role and hopefully reduce the chance of slayer logis rearing their heads again.

I see 1200 hp cal logi's on a daily basis. That rivals heavies. You don't need any resistances.

Agreed. That was a completely unnecessary change that just kept the scout buff train rolling.
I'm now of the opinion that choice 1b is best: a global logistics bonus that is equivalent to 1/4 of the other 3 racial bonuses. This way, if you have, for example, Amarr logi to level 5, you get the level 5 uplink bonus, plus the equivalent of the gallente, minmatar, and caldari bonuses at a little under level 2.

As a mostly solo Gallente player, I would love to see more bonuses than just the main equipment. I have a Minmatar alt and it's incredibly fun to play their Logi. I can kill stuff, run around and supply and heal everyone. Meanwhile, using a scanner enforces squad play. And you don't just need a squad, but also coordination. I feel horribly ineffective when I use a repper/injector/hive combo on my Logi, considering that none of it gets a bonus.
I also like the idea of a better scan. It doesn't do all that much for solo play, but I imagine it would be quite useful for squad play, as a Logi could then add an early warning role. It would be different from the Caldari scout by virtue of the scout being geared towards keeping a distance to the rest of his squad, which makes it more of a spotter. Naturally, this would require not sharing scans. Though I guess a Logi sharing scans is less problematic than a scout doing so.
As a general thought, what is the exact point of modules on the Logi? Most modules don't seem like they'd actually aid a Logi in its function. Wouldn't it make more sense for Logis to have few slots and to have racial characteristics built in, which would prevent slayers, instead of having a bunch of module slots that tempt you to put on some armor? On the other hand, a scan bonus would definitely encourage some more scanning modules. Maybe the slots shouldn't be balanced with the assumption of filling them with armor/shield modules, but rather with support modules like scan in mind? Like, don't give Amarr lows because they are brick tankers, but rather give them the kind of slot that most fits their Logi style. |

100% in favor of buffing Assaults. Logis ... not so much.
We should avoid changes which could result in Logis out-assaulting Assaults again. Any improvements to the Assault frame would otherwise prove wasted effort.

How does adding further equipment bonuses make this worse? Cal logi has always had a ridiculous slot layout, that's nothing different.
