Agreed. Instead of encouraging people to bring out proto crap, it should have been a matter of who gets the most kills with militia gear. Then it might actually come down to a matter of skill. :D

You say "male cheerleaders" as if it were an insult.
Many Olympic gymnasts were male cheerleaders. And its not like most schools have dedicated gymnastics programs ( specifically for men ), so cheerleading is the next best thing for male gymnasts who wish to use their skills in a shool-related function.
Most of the male cheerleaders I knew in highschool possessed more strength than our wrestlers and [American] football players. Some of them even partook in parkour events.
I bet the average "male cheerleader" is more athletically competent than the people on these forums.
Anyway, me no likey this event.

Not every event has to be for 100% of the playerbase. This happens to be for about 5% to try - but then again the rewards are mainly immaterial.

I have made no attempt to "get under your skin." In fact, the only way I could do such a thing is if you let me. (And even then, I'd decline. I'm not into that.)
I made simple observations based upon what YOU said. You mentioned your father who raised you. I made an observation. Simple. If my observation was inaccurate, I apologize. Perhaps you should articulate your posts better, so such things don't happen.

So first it was about the male cheerleader insult. Then you try insulting me when I don't bend. Then you try insulting my father. Then you try insulting me by saying I should articulate my posts better. Then try warning me as if you're some big bad wolf
My observation? You're a weakling with a bird chest that feels the need to defend male cheerleaders because you always wished you could do cartwheels and backflips to make your mother proud. I think you're a weirdo loner who is clumsier than clark kent around the ladies. I think you never won a fight. So to compensate for that void, you come to video game forums where you look to replace your dull existence with that of New Eden, all in the effort of being something more than a geeky failure. I also think my dad would whoop your dad.
If my observation was inaccurate, I won't apologize. Perhaps you should learn how to stop jumping in front of bullets so you won't get shot. |

No insults were thrown on my end. Some friendlty suggestions were, though.
Unless, you believe, ignorance is an insult. Which, last time I checked, ignorance exists in us all. I acknowledge areas were I am ignorant. Like electrical engineering, quantum physics. There are many more areas. But I digress.
I acknowledge reality. I acknowledge the talent of gymnasts. I acknowledge that people have different desires, talents, and will not attempt to devalue them, even if I don't enjoy such things personally.
But please, beat your chest some more. It is the entire reason I respond. Play into my hand some more.

Then there was the logic of only allowing it in pubs. It might have been a decent way to breathe some life back into FW. I realize this event is designed to do something, to truly gather some amount of information. Are you looking to see what affect massive pub stomping has on new players over a months time? I can give you the answer....

You really are a scumbag.
We had a gay black guy in high school named Ryan. Some of us knew him since elementary school, and although we didn't hang out with him, we respected him as a person. He was a male cheerleader.
In middle school I picked the flute as an instrument because my mom played it, then I realized it was a girl's instrument and I switched to saxophone. Him and I were the only male flute players. At least he got to hang out with women more than the straight guys.
Why don't you start talking about racial profiling while you're at it?
CCP, I thought I was going to start liking you again. I really did. Then you announced this event.

There is no sense of masculinity anymore because men and their role as protector/hunter has been trivialized, minimized, and feminized. Some of us who were raised diffrent see these things and it makes a huge contrast in our mind of what being male means. What it means to be the gender we are is a fundamental idea we learn very young and it relates directly to how we see self, community, and society at large.

lol. This thread. THIS THREAD! *giggle, snort*
Anyways, I hope we eventually get a fun event with militia items, or at least something where new players can stand a chance at winning some cool stuff. As it is, I'm just going to log in to get my daily bonus and see what other games I can buy for my ps3. I'll be back when there are less proto stompers.
I only have Street Fighter IV (got it from a friend and I don't really like it) but Alice: Madness Returns looks fun. Might buy that. Oh, and I have Beyond Good and Evil HD too. o_O
*edit* oh, btw, I don't hate the event. I think it's cool to get a weapon named after you but I just know when I'm seriously outclassed. |

I mean, we don't need to be drunken wife beating rapists (and if you are, I hope you get your ass beat, in, real, life) but whatever happened to being a man? What ever happened to those days? There are too many little things that chip away at the traditional image of what it is to be a man and what is left over is a hideously twisted and malformed aberration of what it once was.
Am I saying that suffrage is bad? No. Am I saying that men should stay static in an 1910's perspective? No. Evolution of perspective isn't a bad thing, though when that evolution of perspective was perverted into a "bitchification*" or softening of the image of a traditional male, it all started to fall apart.
Suffice it to say that I agree with you.
*Bitchification is in no way meant to be a misogynistic reference to women, though is totally intended as an insult to female dogs of any breed

I just think that it's so intensely trivial in the grand scheme of things. What other people do is their own business, and judging people for anything that doesn't bring harm to others only shows weakness in the one doing the judging.
Want to be a "man"? Then be a "man". Take care of who you are, and don't worry about who anyone else is. If you're worried about preserving the image, then do it. We live in an age where machines will soon do everything you could ever do, better. So, just focus on being the person you want to be, and don't waste your energy doing something as pathetically trivial as judging another for their outlooks or approach on life. If it's not hurting others, it's no ones damn business but their own.
Period.

But seriously, lol at westerners. All I know is the modern male is a lot softer, weaker, simpler than my dad. Hell most of em ***** about 40 hr work weeks, my dad did 14 hr days of real work 6 days a week, cut hay 3 times a summer, grew tobacco and worked in it for money at Christmas, worked on cars, fixed appliances when they broke down, ran people off the road that didnt pull over for funeral processions and never asked for handouts. As for your human progression now they stand in protest of other peoples money and demand that the people they cheer for when elected give them other peoples money.
+1 for Human Progressive Folks, -10 for independence, ingenuity, self sustainment, bravado, machoism, chivalry, toughness, mechanical inclination (these BOYS can't even change their own oil), standing for something not pc, knowledge about nature, hunting rifle proficiency 0, being able to still grow hair (im looking at you with the wax), and how many women probably feel less safe because you've never once defended yourself?
I mean they got that 0 tolerance policy your progressive mother supported at the PTA meetings, you know when she wasnt cooking anything grown in her garden, plowed by your daddy cause that piece of liberal excrement couldn't even figure out which way to face standing next to a blue ford and a high plow. Lord lets not forget that todays progressive men even get told what words suddenly made the not pc list, so you are not allowed to use them anymore.
But I mean they have nice manicured nails, peti too, you know for their flip flops, or crocs..... lmao Heres the deal, in the 40s there was Normandy today you got punks, some need culling real bad.

There is a lot more to "strength" than how much time you spend in the weight room, or how much you can lift. And never mind that strength can be in other areas.
It is a complex topic that includes: Flexibility Control Cardiovascular systems Overall muscular capabilities Mental fortitude Pain tolerance Willpower Agility etc....
From my experience, most footballers in general at highschool and college levels are not well rounded. They have muscular strength, and little else, because its superfluous (obviously depends on position).
But, I'm sure you know all that.

If it's not hurting others, it's no ones damn business but their own. Period. (not saying you're judging anyone either, just, in general) The answer is because we got to this point by being represented equally when it comes to the duality of humanity, the feminine and the masculine. These things are in our blood, our DNA, our instincts.
It is when attempting to artificially suppress this duality that we see critical structures in socierty begin to weaken and crumble, structures such as the family unit. Why is it important? Because the duality of male female creates dependency on one another, that dependency when coupled with adversity creates bonds, some call them family ties and in our culture those ties form the basis of relationships that sustain our character through good and bad, more importantly teach and represent good and bad.
Not in an arbitrary, objective way, in concrete terms of I have a son and the mother and father both must play a part in instructing the child simply by existing, being present, and representing what being male means through example. If not children become lost, and trying to be an adolescent today particularly male without that influence leads to confusion. This confusion will then manifest in the form of trying to find what male does mean and become extreme, mostly violent behavior.
There is not greater evidence for this than to illustrate the modern American prison system. Without question the single greatest unifying factor amongst men in prison today is not the color of their skin, or their finacial dispositions, but rather that they are the product of single parent households. Ah yes, there it is. You see on there own a child can discover anger, aggression, temper, but with the guidance of a truly masculine role model they can be taught what to do with those things.
You see as we lose what defines us as a gender we lose purpose, and in that purpose we could control ourselves. Some of you will get it, and some of you Im sorry.

More importantly we learn at an age before we can be self aware that we are learning. Plowing a field does not make you more of a man, it is an example of what MEN do. I don't think you get it. Its also not a cop out. Put simply, you need to watch a man from thed time you are born up through the age of sexuality to figure out how to be one. But if what you watched your whole life was no man, or some weird modern feminine male, then you will not understand the proper way to respond to the 20 year old a$$ hole that keeps hitting your girlfriend in the ass with his shopping cart standing in line at the grocery store. But see because my father raised me, I know the proper tone to relay all the information I need to. I know the correct look, posture, and expression. Also if he doesnt like what I say or do I know how to handle that as well. I know these things because I watched another man my whole life. The guy without my dad, keeps standing in line looking at the floor, occasionally sharing uncomfortable looks with his gf.

Ultra marathoner living in New Mexico. I run up mountains for fun. 5-6 hour training runs. Fun times. Personal best marathon (26.2 miles) is sub 3 hours, done via training twice a week on a damaged hip causing chronic pain.
101 degrees yesterday. Will get worse. Favorite runs are at altitudes above 12000 feet, in the mountains of Colorado.
People die doing what I do. Last year, an experienced ulra marathoner died near my area during an easy run through the foothills. Every year, people die hiking in the mountains that I run up.
I'm just a normal New Mexican runner, having fun with my sport of choice. Perhaps you'd like in on the fun?

To run any distance and not have the opportunity to hit someone is not my thing. As for altitude sickness, ademia and hypoxia- more people will die and be hospitalised for over heating related condtions in the next month as compared to some low visibility ego stroking event.

Fair enough. Not into "aggressive" ( for lack of a better term) sports myself, partially because my strengths lie elsewhere. But to each their own. I'll take the mountains over gyms, track or fields (or other controlled environments). But whatever, look down on running, ultramarathoning (or some ego stroking event, as you so ignorantly see it).
Its only a worldwide sport. Visibility means little. You know, soccer is more visible than football on a world stage. Visibility is more for people with egos to feed.
But regardless, life is too long to not do what you enjoy doing; people's opinion of your sport be damned.
