Sorry for a stupid question... So I know that right now the Rail Rifle and especially the combat rifle are the best guns. But I don't want to use the combat because everyone uses the combat. And the Rail Rifle just "sounds" weird. So I was looking at the GLU- 5 Tactical AR, and the CRD-9 Assault Scrambler Rifle...
Which one should I go with? Btw, I don't have a lot of experience, just broke 1 milliion lifetime a little while ago. So I can only choose one.
From what I've heard the Assault Rifles aren't doing too great right now (but both AR and ScR are shield weapons, sooo...)
Anyways, the Tac AR does more damage per shot Tac AR 60. 5 AScR 34.10
but the AScR has a faster Rate of Fire and is more accurate (whatever that means). Also the Tac has a small clip (18 shots compared to 72). So, I've done a little research but not enough to figure out which is better because I can't use them. (T_T)
So, which do you think is the better rifle for flanking and/ or providing cover fire (I don't do well solo regardless of the gun). Anyways, thanks for any advice.
btw, my fit right now:
Standard Cal Scout
Enhanced Shield Extender x 2 militia precision enhancer
militia armor repair
militia nano-injector militia repair gun
Usually alternate between standard Rail Rifle or Breach Assault Rifle. (o_O)
Anyways thanks again for reading this. |

Honestly, try the regular scrambler rifle, it has a charge feature (for 3x damage), it fires very quickly (even though it's semi-auto) and it's pretty accurate. It's only a little bit shorter range than the rail rifle too. There's a militia variant for you to try on the marketplace too.

It's high risk high reward. Also, if you skill into the Amarr assault suit it will increase the number of shots before overheat.
Of course, if you really want to use a ranged weapon, perhaps I can interest you In one of these beauties.

Uhm... ok. (._. ;) I didn't really get an answer over which gun was better. But I'm glad that the Scrambler and Laser are both militia weapons so I can practice with them. They became militia about the time I started, so maybe it's fate.
Uhm... I guess I can practice timing my shooting so I don't kill myself with the scrambler. And I can practice preheating with the laser rifle...
(T-T) These aren't really beginner-friendly weapons, though. But thank you for the recommendations. |

No they are not, but that's part of the allure. Plus, if they were easy to use, they would be crazy OP.

Oh, right. Your original question, lol. Well, I don't know that a semi-auto weapon like the TAR is ideal for suppressive fire, but it is good for flanking and rear support. AScR is better for suppressive fire due to the high ROF, and if they ever make it so that shield tanking is more viable, it will be a great weapon again, it used to be my main choice back before even scouts had 500 armor.

Hmm.... What I can do is practice with the Scrambler to see if I like it. If it ever turns out to be the rifle for me, I'll eventually get the AScR. But if it ends up not working, then I could go to the TAR since I already have AR lvl 2. I'll have to wait to see if my playing style changes by the time I'm ready to pick a weapon too, because they both sound like they act very differently. Thank you for the advice. |

Scrambler rifle or laser rifle those are good. Laser rifle has a harsh overheat penalty (which is ridiculos and should be nerfed) but does good damage. the Scram has selective firing so you can charge a shot or just spam the trigger and it has less overheat penalty damage than the laser |

John, I swear you are just like a drug dealer. "Try this LR once, you'll be hooked man. You'll never go back to anything else." LOL
TBH, I've tried it and it isn't bad once I got used to it. So Mr. Demonsbane does know what he's talking about with his LR's.

Don't worry man.
If we aren't supplying it someone else is. But we have pride in our work, our LR's are of the higher purity and quality, do you want your kinds getting their hands on these other filthy LR?
No so we provide the fix in the safest and most consumer friendly manner.

We provide only the purest high grade stuff, no doubt about it.
It's like an addiction for me too, but yes I am definitely a pusher. I ran it almost exclusively whenever I grind matches solo in ambush. I used it on an assault suit in certain situations elsewhere as well. But, after the 1.8 buff, I once again started running it more consistently (even on some of my logi suits) in the other modes. Having seen it in action again, more than a couple of my corp-mates all of a sudden have started using it here and there too. Every once in a while 2 or 3 of us will be able to camp a roof with LR's for almost a whole match in dom or something, and damn is that fun.
(and now I finally have my gateway drug with the militia LR being introduced )

I'm a TAR evangelist myself. And ... it's quite effective at suppressive fire. You need a relatively fast trigger finger, a bit of range and have to master your timing with the recoil (it's not that bad) but yeah... People run when you hit them with 2-4 rounds and you can keep a squad locked down behind cover if you're good - if they come out of cover, you kill them before they get into range of you. You can sustain very high damage potential without needing to worry about heat or ammo. It's quite nice.
That's the goal anyway

I have to cast my vote for the Scrambler Rifle. The charged shot is simply amazing and provides more variety in game play than you might think. If you plan to run Amarr suits and are a decent shot the Scrambler Rifle is an amazing weapon. I have never regretted specing into it and as a bonus for running Amarr, you can shoot Laser Beams. Lasorieness is next to Godliness. |
