It's only a little bit shorter range than the rail rifle too. There's a militia variant for you to try on the marketplace too. I keep overheating it and killing myself. T-T Be patient with it. You'll learn.
It's high risk high reward. Also, if you skill into the Amarr assault suit it will increase the number of shots before overheat.
Of course, if you really want to use a ranged weapon, perhaps I can interest you In one of these beauties.

Zelda Harkinian wrote:Uhm... ok. (._. ;) I didn't really get an answer over which gun was better. But I'm glad that the Scrambler and Laser are both militia weapons so I can practice with them. They became militia about the time I started, so maybe it's fate.
Uhm... I guess I can practice timing my shooting so I don't kill myself with the scrambler. And I can practice preheating with the laser rifle...
(T-T) These aren't really beginner-friendly weapons, though. But thank you for the recommendations.
No they are not, but that's part of the allure. Plus, if they were easy to use, they would be crazy OP.

Oh, right. Your original question, lol. Well, I don't know that a semi-auto weapon like the TAR is ideal for suppressive fire, but it is good for flanking and rear support. AScR is better for suppressive fire due to the high ROF, and if they ever make it so that shield tanking is more viable, it will be a great weapon again, it used to be my main choice back before even scouts had 500 armor.

John, I swear you are just like a drug dealer. "Try this LR once, you'll be hooked man. You'll never go back to anything else." LOL
TBH, I've tried it and it isn't bad once I got used to it. So Mr. Demonsbane does know what he's talking about with his LR's.
Don't worry man. If we aren't supplying it someone else is. But we have pride in our work, our LR's are of the higher purity and quality, do you want your kinds getting their hands on these other filthy LR? No so we provide the fix in the safest and most consumer friendly manner.
We provide only the purest high grade stuff, no doubt about it.
It's like an addiction for me too, but yes I am definitely a pusher. I ran it almost exclusively whenever I grind matches solo in ambush. I used it on an assault suit in certain situations elsewhere as well. But, after the 1.8 buff, I once again started running it more consistently (even on some of my logi suits) in the other modes. Having seen it in action again, more than a couple of my corp-mates all of a sudden have started using it here and there too. Every once in a while 2 or 3 of us will be able to camp a roof with LR's for almost a whole match in dom or something, and damn is that fun.
(and now I finally have my gateway drug with the militia LR being introduced )
