DUST is going nowhere fast, here's why:
1) Lag, do I really need to say anymore? The lag is so bad and frustrating it's almost unplayable. The forge gun is lagging so much I can't hit anything. The frame rate is so bad people are shooting at me in slow motion, the rubber banding and running into walls is out of control. The hiccups or freezes when you've just spawned are appalling.
2) The matchmaking, in previous updates you've mentioned fixes to matchmaking? WHAT FIXES? I am still being deployed with half a team of randoms against 2-3 different corps. I am sick of being 4 and 5 capped every single game I play solo.
3) the HMG, the HMG spam is destroying this game, it kills twice as fast as a combat rifle. Just quit a game where this heavy was unstoppable, you couldn't kill the guy because he killed you in less than a second. I almost had him but then guess what happens? Another heavy comes along and tears me up, FROM 42 METRES. Why is the HMG still effective outside the 40m range?
CCP you really need to learn how to balance weapons, do you want this game to be a COD-clone twitch shooter or a game with meaningful gunfights? Right now it's as if you have no idea what you want this game to be. Some guns are useless and have high TTK but some guns kill you faster than you can think.
Tone down the god damned damage on the HMG, why do you think you see games of Domination where there are up to 10 heavies on the enemy team in the objective taking 0 deaths? Because you can't get close enough to them without dying, you're always in their optimal range.
I'm just absolutely sick of every game lagging really badly, being put up against 2-3 corps and having to face invincible heavies shredding my 800hp in less than a second. If you don't use an HMG on this game you just can't compete.
And stop nerfing and buffing stuff from being utterly unusable to being the most over-used thing in the game.
The Struggle...is tolerating DUST for even 1 match without flushing your own foot down the toilet in a fit of rage.

If an HMG is killing you outside its range, YOU ARE OUT IN THE OPEN AND NEED TO FIND COVER. There is NO reason why you shouldn't be killed if you can't play a FPS well enough to find COVER.

Agree with lag and matchmaking needing fixes, however the hmg just needs a slight toning down. I think that armour dropships only taking 55% damage from swarms needs fixing. |

CCP are going the wrong way about it, because they're clueless, they want to nerf the HP, nerf the movement etc, now there's a debate on rotation speed.
it's the RoF, the DPS and nothing else which is the problem.
I don't enjoy having to somehow face 6 people with twice my HP dealing twice the damage I can. Spam makes this game unplayable.
CCP look if everybody starts using the same thing, you've made it too powerful.
Why do you think good heavies get 0 or 1 deaths maximum per game? Because their relative HP and relative damage output VS a militia guy with a militia AR is too dam high! they will win 50 times in a row!

oh hello newly created npc alt lol, yup last PC match I watched on Youtube was sickening to watch, every single player had a proto sentinel and if they weren't they were just using proto logis.
it's as if people can't play this game without spamming heavies. PC is just where everybody spams FOTM in fear of the enemy spamming FOTM.
This game is going to see-saw back and forth until it gets shut down.
CCP either pull the plug or fix this mess.

It doesn't matter what weapon you're using in a medium/light suit unless its a shotty. ENGAGE AT RANGE, preferably from high ground. Or else you are QQing about something that's YOUR fault, not the game's.
Look. This is what heavies exchange for their high HP and DPS:
- Scan profile
- Passive scans
- Movement speed
- Large hitbox
- Effectiveness at medium range
You aren't even exploiting ANY of those weaknesses, then people like you come on the forum and QQ about it, and CCP is so stupid they're actually going to listen to a bunch of scrubs whine about heavies.

Heavies can put kin cats to go faster. Can use a light weapon instead of a hmg. Scan profile can lowered to 23 with 3 complex damps. Passive scans can also be improved as well. They can conpensate for their losses. You shouldnt do that but they can. However the hmg whether or not you want to admit is too strong. Anything within 40 meters usually dies and usually very quickly. It needs a tweak. Damage per bullet reduction maybe or RoF reduction because its silly. |

And by the way, I usually die up to 10 times and don't get much more than 2 to 3 times the kills, and it's because I'm A SKILLED PLAYER with HMG proficiency 5 and situational awareness.
I believe my friend Ghaz said in another thread that outside 40 meters, a militia AR out-DPS's a HMG.

All those fits you're talking about are PUB TACTICS that DON'T work in PC or serious matches.
And its completely and utterly unfair to nerf the HMG without nerfing the Shotgun alongside it. Right now engagements between shottys and HMGs are BALANCED.

The hmg at cq was ineffectivly hitting you at effective range, the hmg at ineffective range was hitting you effectively

I have seen a speed heavy in pc get 28 kills so dont tell me it doesnt work. Also please explain how the shotgun needs a nerf when it has less dps and has an optimal of about 15m. You make it sound as though you can do all of this at once or as if any of them are a good idea (other than KinCatz, of course. That's really fun if you've been Armor waddling for a while, but still not a long-term viable fitting and only of service in pubs.)
My attempt at a reasonable solution: Leave everything where it is, but remove the Headshot Bonuses from the HMG. It's not as much of a "skill" shot anyways. Before they fixed the dispersion, a Headshot was a rarity among HMG users and people that didn't use HMGs weren't crying about them in every other thread. As soon as they "fixed" it, Headshot kills began raining down and more people began to sob.

Same RPS, same DPS, but more bullets doing an extra 50% or more damage just because I aim between the head and torso hitboxes, at range, and that dispersion allows for Headshot bonuses to fire off at least 10-20 times per Kill. (I don't aim directly at the head because you lose bullets via dispersion outside of contact areas. However, inside of 10m, I'm putting that dot on your face.)

I predicted the changes to the scouts/cloaks would increase the amount of HMG heavies. So far that looks to be exactly what is happening.

This post might deem offensive to some, but its really not. Just a no holds barred honest assesement. The whole discussion requires some common sense.
First of all, you can't really fix matchmaking with its pool of players. I don't know what you're expecting to change with that, really. You have people who squad up for pubs and the majority does not. What is quite interesting is that the pool of players can't fix themselves. Do you know how many squads be open with 5 empty slots and dumbberries continue to play solo? Okay, you want to play solo. But the benefits of squad play outweighs so much. No wonder you're broke, complaining about protostomping and such. Not saying you're doing that, per se. But if people actually played with each other as in cooperatively, matchmaking would be better. This is just another case of the community wanting CCP to buff the community. Only the community can buff the community.
The HMG "spam" is not destroying the game. In fact, the uncompetitiveness and the poor play of blueberries is damaging the game. Most people complaining about HMGs are the same ones rushing HMG users and expecting some Matrix styled, John Woo affair where they come out the victor. This isn't the movies kid. Use your noggin. If the heavy has killed you, then he is close to you. You have ample time from a considerable distance from the heavy to readjust your strategy and reposition.
Also its funny that you're requesting the damage of 50 caliber machine gun's damage to be toned down. Maybe you weren't here for 1.7 and before, but heavies were a joke and not respected. Now they have the capable means. Respect your heavy and stop your John Woo antics.
Weapon balance is stupid. There is no even keel in weapon balance.

- Passive scans
- Movement speed
- Large hitbox
- Effectiveness at medium range

Also its funny that you're requesting the damage of 50 caliber machine gun's damage to be toned down. Maybe you weren't here for 1.7 and before, but heavies were a joke and not respected. Now they have the capable means. Respect your heavy and stop your John Woo antics.
Weapon balance is stupid. There is no even keel in weapon balance.
Killing at range isn't possible, mist are inside and impossible to kill if you don't bring friends,as if you try, well you know. Most maps are cqc areas so heavies get spammed to no avail without a valid counter, bring a heavy doesn't count. I stopped playing dust, nothing but heavies most of the time, can't kill from range, unless I ambush with shotgun.

By nerfing the HMG it will make engagements with shotgun scouts unfair to the heavy. As it is now, we barely have enough time to react, and if they are using proto we WILL die even if we turn around with our "OP turning speed."
The shotgun is primarily a heavy killer. So, shotguns are directly proportionate to HMGs.
Distance = Rate * Time; E=MCsquared; Shotgun/range = HMG/range
My thoughts on Hotfix Alpha: First I noticed a scout running from my AR. Then a heavy. Then a COMBAT RIFLE USER. CCP +1

If an HMG is killing you outside its range, YOU ARE OUT IN THE OPEN AND NEED TO FIND COVER. There is NO reason why you shouldn't be killed if you can't play a FPS well enough to find COVER.
This is seriously pissing me off... Uhm, I'm a little confused by this. If I'm outside a heavies range shouldn't that be the time I should be engaging them right? If a heavies is killing me outside of his range, even in an open field, where should I engage them? Doesn't this mean something is wrong? |
