Clone bodies are likely cheaper than drones.

The barrels spin to prevent overheating, why would they spin if no bullets are going through the barrel? It would be very unefficent as a weapon if they did, the first gatling gun ever had no spin up time, why would a sci-fi minigun need it?

It has nothing to with rage, i just want some logic into the game. I used to be MG man in the force so i reaaally like machine guns and i want the HMG in dust to resemble an actually machinegun just a fraction and not turn into a broken gun again because of some forum diva getting killed once too often by it. |

I don't play anymore, so you can believe me when I say I have no vested interests in keeping the HMG spool-up-free. Not that I think your suggestion has a chance of being passed anyway.
The the rebuttal to your argument has already been posted: the technology is not the same.
Claiming that Dust's HMG should have spool up because its closest real-life equivalent does, is no different from claiming that electric cars should have CO emissions because standard combustion engines do.
You're simply shouting over anyone who tells you that the weapon is designed differently.

Don't mind them actually I use a rr at range so they hardly ever kill me... I do think that scouts shouldn't be able to run through the stream of bullets once it's firing tho. Seems silly.
I was not expecting such stupid comments tho. As a mg you might have also mentioned that modern gatlings don't overheat before they exhaust their ammo supply, and not just 300-400 rounds more like 2000-10000.

fat suit here. spool time is bad for heavyies. heres why scout + shotgun. spool up time would leave us with even less defence against this tactic.
id much rather see a range reduction the boundless has stupid range.

Biomass is cheaper than unessesary robot bodies. Our bodies aren't doing any of the work, its the dropsuits that do the work. The bodies are just "filler". It just so happens that a filler made of biomass is cheaper than a filler made of silicon and tritanium alloys.
Just like everything else in New Eden... It's cheaper and more efficient.

or how about you can for once suspend the notion of belief and understand that eve tech is 50k years in the future and these guns are not built anything like the way you or I have been familiar with. I mean 500 years ago people never thought an auto loading cannon was feasible and today we got them semi-automatic and very unnatural to be muzzleloading such things. The lore provided makes more than perfect sense because if its a pressure based system then it would still make the HMG emp proof. Amarrians are known assholes in their subjugation methods and minmatar fighting needs evolved from such. I mean what if you precious phalanx no longer punched through any missile's armor (while unlikely anytime soon) but if the situation did occur the rules of war usually forces a change in tech to counter the newer threats. For example most phalanx cannons fire tungsten rounds, a metal we only have about 50 more years worth of left. What is going to be in store for the phalanx then? Early retirement? Round replacement like depleted uranium maybe? The mind boggles, what would guns look like 50, 100, 500 years from now?
For example your phalanx cannons are already given the 'out of date' status there is a highly known and predictable way to defeat them now and most militaries are aware of it, which is why they're now they're marrying the radar system to the evolved sea sparrow launcher instead of the tungsten based cannon system.
As for robots in eve? We already tried robots, they got too smart and consider us food and non-sentient even.
Wrong scope system; we're talking smart guns/scopes which is about 40x cheaper because it doesn't require special rounds or even a special 'gun' (the smart guns come with the system built into the stock but still much more relatively cheaper than any smart 'bullet') It makes a pretty accurate first guess and it autocorrects between firings. Doesn't turn anyone into a sniper instantly but it makes any marksman already much more deadlier.

HOWDIDHEKILLME wrote:With such high damage and rate of fire. Shouldn't there be a .1 - .2 sec spin up time similar to the rail rifle? Seems like there should be. Have you used an HMG? Because it doesn't seem like you have any actual experience with the weapon. You are just spewing misinformation and QQs.
If you were to use the weapon there is a spin up time. It is ~.5 seconds. The gun fires wildly inaccurate rounds until the weapon is up to speed. While this might not mesh with your limited understanding of the world it is a very common solution in video game HMGs. They are a devastating weapon and the half second or so allows the target to try to respond, dive to cover or kill the HMG user before they die.
Learn how video games work. Learn the methods for how they achieve balance. Real guns are not wildly inaccurate. Video games guns are weirdly incorrect, even more so in dust, and much of it is to provide balance between weapons. Never forget that dust balance is possibly the worst in the entire history of video games and certainly in FPS genre games. Each release includes the developers FOTM and negates months of effort by their customers.
At least with the lone developer remaining we shouldn't get the wild directional changes that were the hallmark of dust. One developer can only do so much, which we can be thankful for. At least we have one and his attitude is better than the entire rest of the team has been in the past.
Nobody at CCP cares because we ain't Legionnaires.

No, there shouldn't be. Not unless you change its role to be a long-range killing tool.
Spin up time directly contradicts its use as a close range superiority weapon.
And it doesn't have high damage. It has very weak damage, in fact. The rate of fire is the only thing it has going for it. |
