no the sentinels aren't o.p. (although stacked gallentes will need more than one person to kill normally)
the thing is that they are supposed to be difficult to kill they are high sp heavy armour suits.
your best defences against them are usually: . distance, if they are using a hmg. .shotguns if you can get behind them .scanners, if you are in a squad (particularly vehicle scanners) .heavies in your squad to toe to toe with them .don't try to take them on alone if you can help it .remote explosives attached to them. .don't try a frontal approach, they have a mini gun! .flux grenades will work a treat most of the time as it just leaves their armour, if you rely on these I'd suggest an anti armour proficiency weapon. .if they are in a proto suit and you are alone.... don't respawn in that same area. go try somewhere else or get help.
also don't forget the value of speed, most heavies are slow |

Grenades. Remote explosives. Shotguns. Rail rifles. Combat rifles. Mass Drivers. Laser Rifles. Even scrambler rifles should be killing heavies and if you're not then you're bad at this game. Sorry but it's true.
If you're not good enough to figure out how to kill a heavy, kill his Logi. That's the first step.
Heavies sacrifice speed, scanning and being scanned, as well as the size of their hit-box, all for just those two things: HP and power.
A basic remote explosive will kill any heavy in this game. Skill into them, they only cost about a week's worth of SP.
My thoughts on Hotfix Alpha: First I noticed a scout running from my AR. Then a heavy. Then a COMBAT RIFLE USER. CCP +1

Take this from me. I've been killed so many times by militia shotguns in my full proto Amarr Sentinel.
One occasion sticks out in my mind. He basically jumped into my face and shot me point blank in the head.
Don't get cocky. You need to twitch just as hard as they do.

You can't run from a heavy ???! The only heavy you should have trouble getting distance on is a Minnie which are squishy . Any other HMG heavy is a rather easy kill for a Bk-42 .. keep your distance beyond 30m ( Unless he's an Assualt HMG then back up a bit more ) and aim for the head . If he's not dying kill the guy pointing a beam at him first .
No job is worth doing if you don't get paid in the end .

high sp heavy armour suits.
The problem with heavies is that they give to much for what they lose, they get the most HP and the best weapon in the game for a small sacrifice in speed. The speed would be a balancing factor if it wasn't for the fact the HMG can melt your face before you have time to even move a step. Their HP shouldn't be cut down, but maybe their turning speed should be increased and a spool up time for the HMG should be added.

this! they are crappy at long range.. advanced shotguns or higher 2 shot sentinels.. RE OHKs them... use Flux grenades to take down their shields first that effectivly halves the difficulty when takeing out heavys Run them over with a car Kill them with tanks Headshot with sniper kill them from air with dropship Forgegun OHKs sent/heavy

No, the logistics are well, those scouts are OP and heavys, the Assaults need a Buff, a slot more than equipment.

Grenades - No. Seeing as they have a 25% damage reduction to them and even if they were doing full damage they wouldn't kill sentinels... Remote explosives - Yes. The best counter on this list. Shotguns - Dubious. Yes on bad heavies, no on those that are decently equipped. Rail rifles - No. Combat rifles - Low chance. Mass drivers - Absolutely not. Laser rifles - Possible, but unlikely. Scrambler rifles - No. Have you even used a scrambler rifle? Asserting that being unable to kill a heavy with a scrambler rifle suggests that you haven't the faintest idea of how a scrambler rifle works.
A basic remote will not kill any heavy in the game.
The only thing heavies really sacrifice over mediums is a bit of speed. Hitboxes isn't really a major thing with aim assist, and medium frames will all be scanned by pretty much any form of scanning and none of them have viable scanning.
There is no viable counter to massing heavies on objectives without excellent organisation/skill - far, far more skill investment than the heavies put in. Remote explosives only go so far. Heavy spam wins objective games. Of all the roles in DUST, it's one of the lowest skill ones as well - the HMG barely requires aiming at this point.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

A couple of things to note here, do not marginalize the heavy's hit box as aim assist hits a heavy harder then any other suit especially since it is slower. also with the removal of the slowdown effect strafing has become much easier for the smaller suits while remaining awful for a heavy. Finally, a heavy can not lone wolf for **** due to the lack of an equipment slot and the HMG literally hemorrhages ammo...

Slowdown is a fair point - Yeah, they can strafe more effectively than heavies. Doesn't really matter against a heavy though because a HMG will hit you anyway.
Heavies can lone wolf just fine. I've been doing it all evening. Ammo usage is rarely a problem - on occasion stop by a supply depot or use a blue hive. The only times I really tend to run out (though I think I've probably trained ammo capacity) is when I've gone on a long killing spree on an objective completely unsupported.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

I've said it before in other anti-heavy posts about spool up time:
Dust Wiki wrote:Unlike earlier models, the weapon requires no spool up time; rounds are expelled the instant the trigger is pressed. This comes at the cost of initially reduced accuracy as the counter-rotating drives slowly align. Once fully aligned, however, the HMG produces a pinpoint stream of gunfire with unmatched killing potential.
Source
So the lore itself will have to change to allow a spool up time.
As for an HMG melting your face before you can take a step. I've only seen this happen with scouts, militia suits, and armor based assaults and logis. Also a Caldari Sent after I fluxed his shields. So if you got high shields, you won't melt.
