A proto stomp isn't some guy who decides to use his hard earned proto gear in a match. (Now if you use AUR to get proto... well that's a different story). Its a guy who creates a squad specifically to be a cheap bastard and uses proto gear in a match. This is annoying. Now I'm expecting at least one of these replies.
1. HTFU (I'm sorry, but if I put anything heavier then cardboard on my scout suit, it'll be an assault suit). 2. You're butthurt 3. YOU SON OF A ***** YOU'RE THE ONE WHO BLEW UP MY ENTIRE SQUAD OF PROTO HEAVIES WITH REMOTE EXPLOSIVES! 4. If you're so annoyed by it get your own proto gear. 5. Squad up. It still happens but its not as often. 6. Go back to COD noob.
As a response to those.
1. You're lazy and unoriginal. Come up with a better bullshit excuse. (Plus I doubt armor hardeners work on dropsuits.Especially not scout suits. If we put on anything heavier then cardboard we become assault). 2. Not really. Just a bit annoyed. 3. HAHAHAHA! BABOOM! ...I mean, yeah you deserved it. Cheap bastards. 4. Well I would but the fact that you're proto-stomping us makes it a bit hard to get enough SP. 5. I do, but sometimes nobody else from my corp is on, and I'm not going back to the squad finder. Too much Spanish... 6. I've never actually played COD. Or any other FPS for that matter. Dust is my first... which is probably why I've stuck around so long.
What I'm trying to say here is... we have terrible matchmaking. We don't have enough players. We need a bigger playerbase... but tell me, who in their right minds would keep playing after one match?! (For the record, I went insane years ago). Why? Because once they get out of the academy, their met with a flood of proto-stomping bastards who don't even let them spawn! Why would they want to keep playing if they keep getting stomped over and over? Proto-stompers, you are literally driving down the playerbase!
I will stab you in the back! Unless you see me, in which case I will hit that suicide button so fast...

Really? Protostomping? Where is protostomping happening? The frequency is not as great as it used to be. Why? Because most of the "elite" players and "elite" corporations who protostomped has left after hearing the Legion announcement at FanFest.
Now that's left in pubs are clueless blueberries who couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag. I've been in a squad of 6 and we're the only guys with crazy WPs and doing anything on the field.
So I don't know what you're experiencing. I see pubs are even in a much more worse state and PC (where prototypes are abundant) is the only form of real competition.
There is no such thing as protostomping in pubs or poor matchmaking. Just poor players. Not trying to be mean or ignorant, its just what I see.

Stacking + proto setups with characters having well over 24+million SP = Dust514 maintain player retention for new players as well as decrease the amount of time a player will continue player.
This basically means the game is designed essentially to run itself into a financially obsolete in under 2 years which is pretty grim perspective as it relied more on microtransactions than anything else to keep itself alive. So if anything, stack and stomp away and that's only further prove how CCP is utterly incompetent with gaming designs and schemes for FPS and how Dust514's success was never about platform but how they can't even design a game that maintains a degree of relevancy for at least 2 years.
I'm not your research but by all means visit the EvE end of the forums about Dust and Legion, then head to other forums from Planetside to even Killzone and Halo. This game is laughing stock of anything FPS based and it's reputation for being horribly bad begins with how players interact with the game in the first month. And yea because protostomping with player stacking directly contributes to this, it's been a rallying call of why Dust continues to fail. For the record just came out of a stacked player battle and I came out 8:1. Second highest was 3:16. The other side was 28:1, 20:1, 16:1. They also had 8 ppl in their corp. I know a stomp when I see it and it takes me more than 3 shots to take you out on a shotgun from upclose.
So by all means, play the world's saddest song on the world's tiniest violin for those subject to protostomping, I'll be playing the same song when Dust 514 gets upended because they can't do anything about sh!t like this. |

Been a problem since I started... Join a corp or get raped and beaten
How about leave PC and factional as is ( for corp gang members, so they can "play" with each other ) Them make public matches random every time, with one minute on the battle bridge to squad up. Squad finder is filled with " proto only, mic's only, b.s. No good for new players anyway ) Then start a 5-10 minute timer if you leave battle before you can join another ( so you can't just join and quit till your on the " right " team, or leaving because your getting stomped which is part of the problem also ).
Or newbs unite! See a q-sync? Leave before you feed the trolls, it only makes them happy.
Personally I always run solo, squaring rarely... Shouldn't be necessary. Went 43-3 today, 5 rounds in a row #1 on the leaderboard ( 3 times on the defeated team one round 2-7 ) guess I finally got good?

Oh I'm sorry did we get offended since half their member base would still be better than nearly any newcomer and if you were actually literate, bothered to read and had an educational level of an 8th grader then you'd also get the "6 from Nfsounds"..oh wait let me clarify:
I SAID 6 FROM NFSOUNDS WITH 4 FROM STB IN SO FAR @ MATCHES IN THE PUB AND IF YOU CAN READ AND NOT TRYING TO BE DEFENSIVE TO SHOW YOU DIDN'T READ AND ARE NOT LITERATE I ESPECIALLY EMPHASIZED IT FOR YOU AND ANY ONE ELSE FROM THE SHORT YELLOW SCHOOL BUS YOU SEEM TO HAVE CLONED FROM.
In street psychology its called "nitpicking" and you focused on the "STB" and didn't even mention that there were more ppl from NFSounds and they would crush a lot of players overall in pub matches. And btw my KDR was only 4.25:1 I'll also make one thing clear:
you're obviously not getting the point of why protostomping is an issue in the game and why most who deny it enjoy the convenience and luxury of how it justifies their not so superb abilities. The game isn't about KDR stats though. It's one thing to focus on one aspect and say "oh hey that doesn't sound right you must be wrong" when you miss the point that even if STB is a far cry than what they used to be and when they're still a relative elite when its a pub match and there's at least 4 ppl from Amarr Templars.
And while I know players from WarRavens and RND can say they've been playing against STB for a longtime and know whose good and isn't, anyone whose been in MAG also knows that. It's fair enough to say that some players I've killed in games outside of Dust. So by all means, next time you nitpick something, focus on the whole statement and don't look like a failed troll in the process because you're failing to prove your point. |

Fecking rubbish mate, and you should know better than posting crap like this. Q-syncing still goes on, and noobs are still leaving Academy and getting kerb stomped out on their very first game out in the wild.
Of the 8 people who joined this game at the same time I did, guess how many still play? Just one. Why did the rest of 'em leave? Cause its no fun to get killed without any chance to even fight back.
We can all argue why the game has such a low player base till the cows come home, but protostomping has to take the most blame IMO.

I'm sure there are competitive blues in Pub matches. The point I'm trying to make is that the average noob out of Academy will find it difficult to be competitive because of the disparity between the players they are fighting against.
You could be the best FPS player in the world, but when you're going up against players with double (or more) the eHP as you, using weapons that do more damage and have abilities that you don't have, then yeah, you're gonna struggle.
Most people on the forums and most of the Dust guides I've seen say that you don't get competitive until you get to about 8-10 million SP. While you and I and everyone else who has kept playing may be the kinds of Masochist who's willing to tough it out until we can hold our own, the average player who's trying out the game isn't gonna stay around when they are getting killed and red lined over and over and over again.
If you want to play to be competetive, then you work away, nobodies going to stop you. I don't play because I want to be competetive, I'd rather play to relax and have fun. Maybe squadding up every now and again.
How about this? You seem to be in the same time zone as me, so why don't we squad up some time this weekend? We can see how the game is playing between us. |

Ah, I dunno, I'm not really one to block someone because I don't agree with their point of view. I hope I'm big and ugly enough to know that even someone you don't agree with may have a valid point.
If Michael Arck isn't seeing Protostomping going on, then I guess that's the reality that's he/she is seeing. From a personal point of view, I see it going on all the time.
Anyway, this is going of topic fast :) I personally think that protostomping is the main reason that the player retention is so low. Well, that and the rubbish NPE and lack of information in the game for new players.
I'm sure that CCP will solve it before Legion arrives...

This is Michael Arck. I am well known for expressing my opinion whether you like it or not. No, I'm not the guy who says what everybody else says just to be in some cool kids club or to be accepted. What I say, I believe in and I live by. If you think it's bullshit because it doesn't agree with your opinion, oh well.
The truth of the matter is, public matches aren't competitive. Reason why folks leave pub matches to go to PC and get crushed, becoming disheartened about playing in PC. Yes, you can have some good games in pubs but to measure your skill according to pubs really doesn't amount to much.
The truth of the matter is protostomping does not, I repeat, does not happen as often as implied by those whom feel otherwise. There are people who will just side with anything negative just to continue spouting negative energy.
Protostomping was mainly committed by players who often PC. With a bankroll to support and after months of working hard to achieve level 5 in a dropsuit, these players would use the same PC tactics in pubs. Hence the protostomping.
Instead of working and coordinating with teammates, disorganized blues got protostomped into oblivion.
But back to the point...
Protostomping hardly ever happens in pubs like it did before. I've been playing Dust 514 for about two years now. I play a string a matches in one sitting.
I'm curious to know if you know what a prototype is because you just might be getting stomped by ADV suits and calling it protostomping.
You can ask seasoned players (and I would be surprised if they say otherwise) if protostomping happens often in pubs and the reply would be no, compared to how prevalent it was before. You couldn't breathe back then without protos on your neck with a tanks hammering the nail in the coffin.
It's so easy nowadays to destroy in pubs because honestly, plenty of players lack skill. That's not being mean or offensive, that's just the truth. Why I look at guys weird when they want to boast about how they got 40 kills and only 3 deaths. You're playing in pubs where clueless blueberries run rampant.
Since my question wasn't answered, let me ask this again.
In the last 10 games anybody has played, how many times were you "protostomped"?

So you're saying the blues in public matches are highly competitive? Are you serious?
I actually play this game alot. Protostomping doesn't happen at all like it used to. If you can't handle the competitiveness of the pub matches (lol pubs) then yea, you probably need to increase your skill and game.
You speak as if I came into this game with 30 million lifetime SP. I got my butt handed to me. And I continued playing because I knew with time I could get better. Yes, I got frustrated at first, but I kept pushing.
So should we call it MLTstomping? ADVstomping? Because newberries are getting destroyed by anybody. It's up to that person to adapt to the situation. Protos aren't the only danger for a new player. You're a danger. I'm a danger. A guy playing for three months is a danger. So why just lump it into a black and white category and just say they got protostomped?
The 8-10 million SP thing is false. You can be competitive in pubs with 8-10 million SP. PC is a bit different. But pubs?
It's really not good to make up stuff just to prove a point. I was competitive in pubs at 9 million.

For the record just last match was 4 from STB and 6 from NFSounds. Yeah no proto stomp on public? Not all the elite players have left for Legion they only show up on weekends. Weekdays your relatively less at risk. Yea one match that you recently played. In your last 10 games, how many times were you protostomped? And I have already answered that before you spoke... Michael Arck wrote: The frequency is not as great as it used to be.
Organized teamplay works well against STB and NFSounds. Your team had poor players. I agree with you but he is also correct. Pubstomping is a problem, always has been, let me give you a perfect example.... I was playing some pub matches not long ago and DNS still had the doughnut, ran into Summer Salt in game from Molon Labe, he says to me hey man want to PC with us against the doughnut, we are isk grinding ready to fight blah blah blah, so he gives me a channel to meet up with etc etc, now in that match they were qsynced in a pub, all wearing cheap fits, they won the match but were damn near cloned.
2 months pass, they are well established in PC again due to Legion, dns. collapse etc etc etc. Now I see them in a pub and they are not qsynced but because of the finacial freedom of their districts its straight up proto every suit, every tanks, every ADS. I msg one of them after a match and im like damn dude you got to do it like that? The response I got was **** you I got momey now its proto all day everyday, I dare say this is the mentality of many many players.
I think pub stomping, and poor matchmaking is Dusts single biggest problem for maintaining new players, which translates into poor finacial performance for the game over all. And while it is 100% CCPs fault what I have always tried to say to people and use my influence to convey is that as a community we could choose to not take advantage. We could choose to break up our 6 man proto squad, run some basic gear, adopt noobs into the squads, train them into corps. We could choose to make at least 1 game mode sacred from protostomps.
For the record this is an alt, I am a 52 mil sp player, ranked in the top 15 all time for kills, amd Im not even in a corp. Ive always been a lone wolf and proud of that, and while I run PCs with the best and pubs with the worst, I know pubs make the game not PC, I would love to see some major corp as a rule demand that their players have more pride than to protostomp noobs over and over......

While I respect your opinion I must disagree, protostomping has actually gotten worse lately simply due to the amount of corps in pc again. Its all about isk, and with DNS gone all the corps who were locked out of PC now are in it generating clones selling them and running proto in pubs. Hell worse then that they are qsyncing, and running it. As for seasoned players disagreeing, im sure they wouldnt as they are usually the people doing the protostomping in pubs.

HOWDIDHEKILLME wrote:Been a problem since I started... Join a corp or get raped and beaten How about leave PC and factional as is ( for corp gang members, so they can "play" with each other ) Them make public matches random every time, with one minute on the battle bridge to squad up. Ahh yes... I remember you. I would be impressed if those high KDR's were real fighting.... You used RE to get those numbers. Try to fight with a gun... Your style is Cheap and cowardly at best.
