Page 19 shows that there are not going to be any client updates. This should speak volumes as to how much is NOT going to be done to Dust from now on. It is very clear at least to me that CCP no longer is working on Dust. We are nothing more than somewhat glorified beta testers. As far as i am concerned it really wasn't until 1.8 that this game could have been considered in release. |

Client updates are only necessary when adding assets which will mean no more guns, suits, ect. However balance adjustment , game mode changes, ect. can be applied via hotfix, which is a server-side update.
Just because they're not adding more weapons and suits to Dust hardly means zero support.

No, but we probably will be balancing current mechanics. |

Just because they're not adding more weapons and suits to Dust hardly means zero support. Leaving the game not even in a half-finished state with a lot of missing assets, environments, etc. means very little support at this point.

CCP Rouge wrote:Hey everyone! Great to see all the feedback youGÇÖve posted so far. Please keep it coming. For DUST 514 we obviously have a long list of stuff to do but IGÇÖd like to hear on the specific items below if possible. For Project Legion, itGÇÖs more high level concepts IGÇÖm after at this stage as weGÇÖre still figuring out the outline of the experience. DUST 514 - Role and gear balance
- Ways to improve Planetary Conquest
- Other stuff you want us to jump on that can have a direct impact on gameplay quality.
Speaking of which, IGÇÖll get back to you guys next week with more info on how weGÇÖll proceed for DUST. Our plan is to be as transparent as possible, which I know itGÇÖs easy to say now, but itGÇÖs what weGÇÖre working towards. Your primary point of contact in the dev team, which IGÇÖll introduce next week, will have the mission to engage with you all and of course CPM as early as possible. Stay tuned, I think you'll like him. :) Project Legion - The Starmap as the door and guide to New Eden
- Wild PvP / The Sandbox areas where you fight other players and drones (in its first iteration) to scavenge for loot
- New ways to link with EVE
For Project Legion, I recommend you post your thoughts in the new Project Legion forum that CCP Frame pointed out earlier in the thread. Again, IGÇÖm super eager to hear what you have to say and trust me, every post is being read by the team and I. YouGÇÖll see more of us engage with you all moving forward.

Namely due to hardware limitations and a poorly designed game foundation.
What kind of support for Dust would be acceptable to you at this point?

Then again, "currently looking at" could just as well mean "what the devs are working on as we speak", that's how I read it. Doesn't say they won't make client patches in the future. Doesn't say they will do it either ofc. |

I think you have to understand that the Devs are currently terrified of making any promises even if they fully intend to do it in the future. That being said they're going to continue to be very non-committal for quite a while.

And as I said, poorly designed game foundation. But we can't change the base code structure at this point without starting over, which is what they're doing with Legion.
Nonetheless my question still stands, if you were in charge, how would you handle this situation? Im genuinely curious.

If i were in charge i would hire the person that did the coding for MAG i think zipper was his name from ccp. If i knew my team was not used to writing code for the ps3 i would hire people that were. I wouldn't have even started making a game for the PS3 without having several experienced coders for the PS3. Seems elementary to me to hire people that are competent in a area for a specific project. Would you have someone that was totally new to networking build your network? |

Too many actual game developers have been able to do more with PS3 for me to buy the hardware limitations line. Plus CCP had been more fail than success lately.

At this point yes it would require a restart. I would have to see the numbers first to determine if it would be worth it or not. The big thing about coming out on the ps3 for CCP was to gain market share on consoles. I havent done the research to know what the percentages are but there are people that own gaming consoles that do not own a gaming computer (or maybe not even a computer at all ) But how many people own a computer that don't own a ps3? I do not know these things for sure but i would bet that it is more likely that a person would own a computer and a ps3. I would bet that it is less likely that a ps3 player owns a gaming capable computer (i hope that makes sense )
I think it is likely that just simply moving to the PC platform they are loosing market share. Not to mention i am sure there are players that have been put off by this and will not give CCP any money from this point on (this is an assumption however i am one of those players not because i don't have a pc but because i object to being used in such a manner )
If they really needed to scrap everything and start over to make dust into a good game for the ps3 I think it would be a better idea than switching to the PC platform.

No need to be curt ;)
It was relevant because even if they plan to work on something later instead of just what they're currently working on, they're disinclined from speaking about it for the reasons I listed. I made the statement "you" in second person, and was not directly refferring to you, in fact I was agreeing with you to an extent.
