Page 19 shows that there are not going to be any client updates. This should speak volumes as to how much is NOT going to be done to Dust from now on. It is very clear at least to me that CCP no longer is working on Dust. We are nothing more than somewhat glorified beta testers. As far as i am concerned it really wasn't until 1.8 that this game could have been considered in release. |

Just because they're not adding more weapons and suits to Dust hardly means zero support. Leaving the game not even in a half-finished state with a lot of missing assets, environments, etc. means very little support at this point. Namely due to hardware limitations and a poorly designed game foundation. What kind of support for Dust would be acceptable to you at this point? Lol Have you played anything other than dust on the ps3? The real limitation with Dust is the programmers behind it. |

But we can't change the base code structure at this point without starting over, which is what they're doing with Legion. Nonetheless my question still stands, if you were in charge, how would you handle this situation? Im genuinely curious. If i were in charge i would hire the person that did the coding for MAG i think zipper was his name from ccp. If i knew my team was not used to writing code for the ps3 i would hire people that were. I wouldn't have even started making a game for the PS3 without having several experienced coders for the PS3. Seems elementary to me to hire people that are competent in a area for a specific project. Would you have someone that was totally new to networking build your network? |

But that would require starting over from scratch would it not? That being said, would you start over on PS3 or on another platform?
At this point yes it would require a restart. I would have to see the numbers first to determine if it would be worth it or not. The big thing about coming out on the ps3 for CCP was to gain market share on consoles. I havent done the research to know what the percentages are but there are people that own gaming consoles that do not own a gaming computer (or maybe not even a computer at all ) But how many people own a computer that don't own a ps3? I do not know these things for sure but i would bet that it is more likely that a person would own a computer and a ps3. I would bet that it is less likely that a ps3 player owns a gaming capable computer (i hope that makes sense )
I think it is likely that just simply moving to the PC platform they are loosing market share. Not to mention i am sure there are players that have been put off by this and will not give CCP any money from this point on (this is an assumption however i am one of those players not because i don't have a pc but because i object to being used in such a manner )
If they really needed to scrap everything and start over to make dust into a good game for the ps3 I think it would be a better idea than switching to the PC platform.
