Your point being?
Dust won't run on a PC, and Legion won't be released any time soon, if ever (just look at the fate of all other games/projects they've been working on since they launched EVE). If they break the trend and actually release Legion, my guess is it will run poorly on your, by then very outdated, build. |

On Steam alone I have 60 games all playable I build a new machine I keep my Hard Drives ( data on them as well) I use the same case Antec Nine hundred 2 Ver 3 I use the same Ram Corsair 1600 8GB Use the same DVD drive idk its a cheap 52x dvdr drive (IBM i think) all 60 of those games run on this new PC
I just did a new build my total cost was $365 (I5 4670K and Z87 G45) thats less than a PS4 or Xbone
I'm mainly putting this here for the people who are saying a gaming PC is too expensive
EDIT those 60 are not counting the F2P games

To be honest, you can build a very solid PC right now for roughly $800 (using your current TV as a monitor if you're too cheap to actually buy another monitor). It will last you for the foreseeable future. Technology isn't getting that much better any time soon. We've already approached and hit that limit of expansion on the nano-scale level that the speeds aren't going to be "that" much faster 2, 4, 6, or 8 years from now (Moore's Law). Things are only going to get cheaper and cheaper because they aren't getting any smaller. Sure you can cram another two cores into a processor but it's not necessary to get anything more than a quad core right now and these are standard.
So, $800 today, or $600 tomorrow (when Legion is ever released). It's still going to be an improvement at very low cost. (And for those that can't afford a computer at this price, you need to get a ******* job and stop crying about being poor you lazy fucks. Just because you can't afford one doesn't mean the world has to continue producing **** games on **** consoles. Adapt or die.)

Funny how this is all in USD, try living in England where everything you mentioned costs about the same but in Sterling, you're looking at almost twice as much for a basic gaming rig.
Sure I could build a PC that will suffice, but it's not going to last very long and will need an upgrade within the year. |

I built a similar budget pc in Feb, case, 550w psu, 4gb ram, mainboard, I5, r7 260x, 1tb hd, dvd drive, cpu fan and thermal paste for -ú520, however the cpu came with a fan and pre-appiled paste so i could have saved -ú30 there

I dont like PC gaming cause i constantly have to upgrade the thing to keep playing new games. Which is just bollocks. I would rather get a PS4 and be happy till the next generation comes around the corner then constantly throwing money at a PC to keep it running. |

I have seen a few console folks saying that in my lifetime. At least in person. Although the principle reason they don't switch over is because consoles have standardized hardware while PCs don't.
The downside of consoles is that you have to deal with some games that are exclusive to one specific console and not the other especially if you happen to like that game plus the issue of backwards compatibility. This forces you to invest more money than is necessary. On the PC, you don't have to worry about exclusivity between your PC and an Apple computer as almost every PC game company make the games work on both Windows (currently from as far back as XP to Windows 8) and several of Apple's OS versions all at once.
But I won't lie. The lack of standardized hardware among PCs and even Macs makes it an issue for developers who have to account for the variations of the hardware between every user out there plus the various softwares that are running these computers. This brings about a situation in which one PC user is having the time of his life while another PC user is having trouble loading up his game while another user is experiencing frame rate issues.

Time it right as the new gen stuff comes out and grab the previous gen hardware for much cheaper. Shop around and get deals when things go on sale. Do it right the first time and you won't need to upgrade significantly for years and years. The only thing I've added in the last 3 years is a second video card once the prices on them dropped. Things like cases, power supplies and monitors all carry over on most major upgrades so it's not like your building a new computer every few years. Whatever you do don't buy a pre-built one from anywhere, do it yourself and save yourself a bundle.
Your game f'ing sucks, but I'll still play it, damn you! Turns out I wont.

The GPU is much less powerful than the PS4's ~7870. Source Plus it has a measely 1 GB of VRAM, the PS4 has 8 GB shared between the CPU and GPU. You could always get a 2 GB 7870 for ~ $170.
You forgot a $50 blurray drive and a $50 blurray plaback software
You have to add the cost of windows, otherwise you are stealing. I might as well say just buy a stolen ps4 for $200....
These alone put you at +$240 above where you were at.
Your system requires a decent amount of power as well, Over 450 watts . The MB alone is 137 watts while gaming (non-overclocked)
The power savings alone will pay for PSPlus and an additional free game every single year, or a brand new console every 4 years, just in power savings.
You can easily get steam pricing on just about any console game at any time of year if you shop around, this isn't to mention the fact that you will get 24+ free AAA games every year from PSPlus.
PCs are not economically competitive with consoles for gaming. Stop saying that they are.

Grats.
Consoles have a lot longer lifecycle than a PC because the hardware never changes, and developers optimise over the course of development cycles and for this reason alone a -ú350 PS4 will always be a better investment for gaming. |

Dust won't run on a PC, and Legion won't be released any time soon, if ever (just look at the fate of all other games/projects they've been working on since they launched EVE). If they break the trend and actually release Legion, my guess is it will run poorly on your, by then very outdated, build. Adapt or die.) From what you've written here, it's safe to assume you're a ****. Read the above post and stop assuming everyone who can't afford a PC is lazy you ignorant ****. You mad bro? Jobless bro? Get a life. Someone farted in your cornflakes didn't they!
I was a little mad yeah, certainly not jobless and I have a great life. I live in my own house, with my awesome fiancee who is also a gamer (who owns her own business and has a 26 hour week working for another business).
However, after rent and bills and food, I have a wedding to save for and other things too like my hobbies.
Just because people can't afford the one thing that quite clearly defines what it means to have a life in your opinion, doesn't mean that they don't have one. |
