DUST Search - Why are you quitting now that Dust isn't constantly evolving?

DUST is an awesome game that can be played for free. Is it perfect? No, but neither is any game. Add to that the fact that CCP has said they will continue to work on DUST (specifically balance and PC 2.0). I will likely be playing DUST for as long as it is around. If I had played Dust for the first time and been told then that most development resources were not being devoted to this game, and that we would never have a market, or PvE, or whatever. Guess what? I wouldn't have kept playing because the game is just not that good in it's present state CCP can do whatever the fck they want with their own intellectual property, that's their right as a business. Misleading us isn't. Neither is a total lack of contrition after horribly handling this whole mess. As a gamer, I think their decision is lame and don't like it. Whatever. I'm going to go play a better game. As a consumer, my opinion is that I did not get what I pay for. I think they run their business poorly and don't give 2 shts about their customers. The umrealistic expectation you describe is taking CCP at face value and believing the things they said. nice argument it highlights my opinion of you and CCP.

The game needed various fixes back then, so I didn't play it everyday like I did until a couple days ago. So, bit by bit, things started improving. We got updates and things were getting fixed here and there. My Knives actually hit people now! We got a better UI! And I made it here just when it "released", I wonder how long did beta (closed or open) vets waited for these things. By this time, I started enjoying the game and going as far as to recruit a few friends. I joined the Forum Game and started discussing things about the game with people who had similar interests. I found out what the community had been promised and I eagerly played and waited until we get PvE, market, and a full set of Gallente gear. For a while, all was good, but then Fanfest '14 came and basically announced Dust was getting it's own grave. I was a bit disappointed and sad. Why now? Why not before? Weren't we going to be around for 10 years? Weren't we going to get PvE? Market? Fauna? Drones? I've been playing so that I would be ready to enjoy all that to its maximum potential. With those promises gone and me having done a little bit of everything, what is there to do? Get proto everything? There's no point to that if I can't enjoy it. Now, even though Dark Souls 2 is not getting updates, at least it's fun and a proper release with unbroken promises.

You may be right that people had unrealistic expectations of the game but it is silly to place the blame on those who believed the deception rather than the one perpetuating it. It is even sillier to then suggest that we continue to believe those who committed the deception. I'm not that mad. Things change, but CCP undoubtedly deceived its playerbase and milked them for money before the announcement. If you are fine with that, ok, but don't suppose others should be. Because, that's why.
