I WOULD RATHER LOSE TO THE BEST THAN BEAT THE WORST!!!!
I JUST finally started gettin gud. I've been in the top six on the leader board, breaking 1000 wp on a regular basis and my kdr is creeping up. And I did all this as a squad crashing lone wolf. It's been very satisfying to see my name smack dab in the middle of top squads at the end of the match. I was able to do this because I learned how to work with the veteran players. I knew what the they would do to press an objective or to flank the reds and I was there to support before it happened.
But now it has changed. There is less cohesion. Blues don't respond to what I'm doing the same way. A strong offensive turns to a redlined defense. Squad leaders give orders but don't act on it and seem to have forgotten they've given an order off on the opposite side of the map. Blues and reds running amok.
At the end, gone are the usual suspects. No more or very few Nyain Chan/San, Fatal Absolution, Outer Heaven, Heaven's Lost Property, et al.
While some may think this is the end of the protostomp and thus great.... I don't. I embraced the stomp. It motivated me to get better. Someday I would be as good as they.
But most important, this game is loosing talent and a WEALTH of knowledge. Years of hard fought experience to draw from MUST BE RELEARNED!!!!!!!
Veterans... if you're still out there... don't go. I need the stompings. TEACH ME! |

Thanks RG
It sucks. I still have game left. Maybe I'm in denial phase. But for everything I've been busting my assets off for seems to be gone. I was still looking to buy a mic so I could finally start squading for real, get into a cool corp and make some friends. That's my biggest regret.
Two days ago this thread would have gotten attention. Have that many already left? Not sure I'll stay much longer if so. |

I noticed that too. To all Proto stompers, COME AT ME BRO!!!
Dont quit in misory, quit for Honor. For 2 years you should be glad that you had fun meeting other players, going against other Corps, The good old MAG clans that competed in DUST, If you leave now. You will regret it later.
I dont regret it anything from this game because when MAG died in Jan 28,2014, Me and the Rest of the MAG Community. We played Domination Nonestop until the last say. With dust, I'll continue to play till the last day. Racial HAV,LAV, Dropship, ect... expect that very soon. The way HAV are balanced is good.
But as of right now. Keep it up I know CCP did a huge mistake. It afffected this community and as well EVE. Take care.
If you run proto gear, prepare to suffer the consequences. You've been warned.

I only kept playing this game for 2 things 1. SP for the day when the promise of this game is realized 2. to hang out with my friends in Bullet Cluster.
The first reason is gone for me, no matter what they say, no matter what possibilities they dangle in front of me of skill transfers or PS4 ports I just don't trust CCP
The second reason is mostly gone too as the last few stubborn die hards of us are quitting logging in.
But on the plus side a couple of BCG guys have gotten PS4s thanks to this debacle, so thanks for that CCP!

OP I saw you posting a lot in the Rookie Training grounds, and you seemed very eager to learn and excel.
I am glad for the new mercs like you, and I would have been happy to see you be part of the scout community that was so excellent and thrived despite so many setbacks for so long.
I personally don't know if I can bring myself to play again, if only because I would be so depressed knowing my fellow Bastards were no longer beside me or against me.
If you make your way to Destiny, search for the Barbershop there, we have already set up shop, and will hopefully continue to do so throughout other games as a way of trying to keep our tight knit community.

I'm glad you had a positive experience with us. SCHQ will be active in ESO and Destiny when they come out. We're also currently active in Killzone: Shadow Fall which is where I have moved to for the time being.
This game would not have been as enjoyable were it not for all those tough battles we fought against some great players. A lot of those players were beta vets, a lot of our players including myself were beta vets and I think CCP should feel ashamed that they have turned away their most loyal Dust players. I am genuinely saddened at the way we have been treated, we placed out faith and trust (and in some cases our money) in CCP. We wanted to support them, to support this game and they have betrayed us and thrown everything back in our faces.
They have basically said "thanks for the money, now go f*** yourselves". |

It might be true that a lot of the vets are leaving, but a lot of them are staying too. I say stick around and continue playing the game, get the rewards out of it, enjoy it while you can. Even if you don't intend on getting Legion, Dust is still free to play, why not enjoy it while it lasts? Plus, there are still plenty of corporations running to join. I've only been here a year myself and I intend to stick around, at least until something better comes out. Still got a few things to unlock that I want, so why not? Maybe we could even squad up sometime?

Not me I'm afraid. I deleted my guides. The death of the persistent universe I envisioned helping to build when I wrote them makes it all meaningless.
I'm glad I could help the people that read them and thanked me in game and on the forums for writing them but I'm done paying CCP for the "opportunity" of doing their job for them - they should have been making an NPE but were instead working on another project subsidized by our foolish hope.
While the idea of going out in a blaze of glory and burning officer weapons sounded fun at first, I just have not had the desire to log in. The joy of playing is gone, that might be the worst thing CCP has done to me in all this.
And while I'm not biomassing, it's solely so I can check in on the forums occasionally to see what if anything has happened and possibly play once or twice over the next several months for shitz and giggles.

I JUST finally started gettin gud. I've been in the top six on the leader board, breaking 1000 wp on a regular basis and my kdr is creeping up. And I did all this as a squad crashing lone wolf with no mic. It's been very satisfying to see my name smack dab in the middle of top squads at the end of the match. I was able to do this because I learned how to work with the veteran players. I knew what they would do to press an objective or to flank the reds and I was there to support before it happened.
But now it has changed. There is less cohesion. Blues don't respond to what I'm doing the same way. A strong offensive turns to a redlined defense. Squad leaders give orders but don't act on it and seem to have forgotten they've given an order off on the opposite side of the map. Blues and reds are running amok.
At the end, gone are the usual suspects. No more or very few Nyain Chan/San, Fatal Absolution, Outer Heaven, Heaven's Lost Property, Ancient Exiles, DNS et al.
TEACH ME!

I'd love to play again, but I traded my PS3 in for an Xbox One, maybe if CCP hadn't told me that the only way I was going to get good is to buy omega boosters, or orgin packs or AU gear for the last 3 months all the time knowing they were going to pull this move I would have stayed. Have fun supporting an company that just wants to use you as a beta tester while you pay them for the opportunity

No tanks, no dropships, few orbitals. I am grinding out my last 31k sp and it is difficult even with the event boost. I should be done. But I developed my tactics based on what the vet squads would do and they are gone so my WP gains are halved. I actually smiled when I got stomped by some Nyain Chans and Anonymous Gods a few matches ago. ACTION PACKED!!!! Its painful. I worked hard to get where I was, as did sooooo many.
Seriously, we should squad sometimes I rarely have a problem finding good games, and the stomps always seem to favor the other team when I join in a game. I'm not sure if it was mentioned (crappy memory) but did you say what you were running, suit and weapon wise? Sometimes switching up your setup is the best way to enjoy the game.

MJ, I think you are right about gameplay changing. I've noticed a lot more disorganized play. I agree that being proto-stomped, while not fun, forced me to find other ways to contribute, whether it being hacking, sneaking around the back and dropping an uplink, or taking up A/V (not very effective against Tanks but has helped cut down on murder taxis).
Some vets will leave, but in their wake new leaders will emerge. Maybe you'll be one of them.

I'm still trying to play. A lone wolf heavy. It's hard work and I take beatings but it is worth it. Seeing lots and lots of proto/officer gear now. But many of the good players have left. I tried to use the squad finder today, first thing I do when I get in was send everyone in the squad 5 million ISK each to help out. They acted like it was nothing. Not even a thank you. LOL
Listening to them ramble on about how they are going to get into PC now that most of the good players have left was entertaining to say the least. Poor chaps have heart, I give them that. Oh, they blamed DNS for the proto stomping LOL

OP, you remind me of myself. Two days ago, I actually said "WTF?!" as I went 53-2 in a Skirmish game.
...Never in my Dust career have I attained such a score, so something had to be up.
However, that changed when I went to Ambush and proceeded to go 14-11 in a match against Nyain San. It's all good though. I'm trying to get rid of all these proto suits and Ambush seems like my best bet at accomplishing this. |

Let me clarify. I don't just want to get stomped.
I equate protostompers to high skilled veterans who helped create the battle tactics that win a match. It took time to develop those strategies but eventually they got it down to a science.
Fast forward to post FF and it's all but gone.
Players like me coming in at the tail end of 1.7 had a LOT of catching up to do. Like other noobs the fear of the stomp forced me to take up sniping. But as I sat on a hill waiting for a target I would watch everyone else have real fun far away. Screw this, I'm going in. I suffered through the stomps and rage, but I finally got it. I'm up to speed on the proper tactics. I know the best spot to drop my uplink. I know where the battle will rage hardest so I'm there with my injector. I know where to position myself to punish the red who made a mistake. My WP are way up and my kill count finally hits double digits. I'm out of the rut and over the hump and in the middle of the action.
But the action has left the building.
Now I rush in with my game plan but where is everyone else? I have the only uplink near the objective. It should be lighting up like a Vegas slot machine. Nope. I rush to the frontline to support my team, help retake an objective only to discover I'm in the front of the line, the only one there. Blues don't have my back. I'm the one who supposed to "got your back" not lead the offensive. I'm not that good yet. Teams are full, but the vets aren't there. Matches are heavier with inexperienced players. The battle lines aren't being established and battles don't rage where they should. That field of hives and links that light up a map and deafen your ears are few and far between. The hum of dropships carrying mercs to high places is seldom heard. Heavies and logis don't run in pairs. Winning the match is forgotten. Nobody is pushing the objective...on either side. The inexperienced players that skirted the edges of battle are now running the show.
This was my experience as I finished capping out the last event. As others here said it was hollow, like a ghost town. This is why I hoped vets wouldn't quit.
Since then I've noticed some competent squads have gotten back in. But to get one on each side of the battle is rare.
How long will it take for newer players to relearn what was lost in the mass exodus of talent?
