I WOULD RATHER LOSE TO THE BEST THAN BEAT THE WORST!!!!
I JUST finally started gettin gud. I've been in the top six on the leader board, breaking 1000 wp on a regular basis and my kdr is creeping up. And I did all this as a squad crashing lone wolf. It's been very satisfying to see my name smack dab in the middle of top squads at the end of the match. I was able to do this because I learned how to work with the veteran players. I knew what the they would do to press an objective or to flank the reds and I was there to support before it happened.
But now it has changed. There is less cohesion. Blues don't respond to what I'm doing the same way. A strong offensive turns to a redlined defense. Squad leaders give orders but don't act on it and seem to have forgotten they've given an order off on the opposite side of the map. Blues and reds running amok.
At the end, gone are the usual suspects. No more or very few Nyain Chan/San, Fatal Absolution, Outer Heaven, Heaven's Lost Property, et al.
While some may think this is the end of the protostomp and thus great.... I don't. I embraced the stomp. It motivated me to get better. Someday I would be as good as they.
But most important, this game is loosing talent and a WEALTH of knowledge. Years of hard fought experience to draw from MUST BE RELEARNED!!!!!!!
Veterans... if you're still out there... don't go. I need the stompings. TEACH ME! |

Thanks RG
It sucks. I still have game left. Maybe I'm in denial phase. But for everything I've been busting my assets off for seems to be gone. I was still looking to buy a mic so I could finally start squading for real, get into a cool corp and make some friends. That's my biggest regret.
Two days ago this thread would have gotten attention. Have that many already left? Not sure I'll stay much longer if so. |

I only started playing three months ago but I gave this game everything I had. It hurts. I can only imagine how the vets feel.
It sucks being late to the party. |

I can't tell you ow many times that when I first started playing I would end up shooting at the clouds because I couldn't control my aim. Reds would rush me and I would try to fight back but end up blapping worms. Then I found sensitivity controls |

That second link is insulting. It was a great game every hour, minute, second. Came across as they didn't really care about us. We were biomass to them. |

Crimson ShieId wrote:Dust is still free to play, why not enjoy it while it lasts? It is soooooooooooo hard to do now. The matches are boring. There is NO action. No tanks, no dropships, few orbitals. I am grinding out my last 31k sp and it is difficult even with the event boost. I should be done. But I developed my tactics based on what the vet squads would do and they are gone so my WP gains are halved.
I actually smiled when I got stomped by some Nyain Chans and Anonymous Gods a few matches ago. ACTION PACKED!!!!
Its painful. I worked hard to get where I was, as did sooooo many. |

...Pity, oh well, back to laddering i guess. It took me a while to get there though. I hated the stompings at first. But I learned from it. I did what they said..HTFU.
I refused to leave this game because other players got the best of me. I'm not a quitter. At least now I can bow out with my head held high.
Oh look, I just took first place with 550 wp |

I capped out last night and it was hard to take. I had to double check I was playing on the American server because I could swear it was Oceana. I can't play like this. |

Let me clarify. I don't just want to get stomped.
I equate protostompers to high skilled veterans who helped create the battle tactics that win a match. It took time to develop those strategies but eventually they got it down to a science.
Fast forward to post FF and it's all but gone.
Players like me coming in at the tail end of 1.7 had a LOT of catching up to do. Like other noobs the fear of the stomp forced me to take up sniping. But as I sat on a hill waiting for a target I would watch everyone else have real fun far away. Screw this, I'm going in. I suffered through the stomps and rage, but I finally got it. I'm up to speed on the proper tactics. I know the best spot to drop my uplink. I know where the battle will rage hardest so I'm there with my injector. I know where to position myself to punish the red who made a mistake. My WP are way up and my kill count finally hits double digits. I'm out of the rut and over the hump and in the middle of the action.
But the action has left the building.
Now I rush in with my game plan but where is everyone else? I have the only uplink near the objective. It should be lighting up like a Vegas slot machine. Nope. I rush to the frontline to support my team, help retake an objective only to discover I'm in the front of the line, the only one there. Blues don't have my back. I'm the one who supposed to "got your back" not lead the offensive. I'm not that good yet. Teams are full, but the vets aren't there. Matches are heavier with inexperienced players. The battle lines aren't being established and battles don't rage where they should. That field of hives and links that light up a map and deafen your ears are few and far between. The hum of dropships carrying mercs to high places is seldom heard. Heavies and logis don't run in pairs. Winning the match is forgotten. Nobody is pushing the objective...on either side. The inexperienced players that skirted the edges of battle are now running the show.
This was my experience as I finished capping out the last event. As others here said it was hollow, like a ghost town. This is why I hoped vets wouldn't quit.
Since then I've noticed some competent squads have gotten back in. But to get one on each side of the battle is rare.
How long will it take for newer players to relearn what was lost in the mass exodus of talent?
