CCP Saberwing wrote:- Character transfer is a no-brainer from a conceptual standpoint, but it's specifics are difficult from a development standpoint. I understand the frustration that it wasn't made crystal clear during the keynote. Let me elaborate a little as to why it's difficult, though. As presented in CCP Z's talk, we're working super hard on developing a progression system and economy that will kick ass. So, if some things may not exist or make sense should Legion become a reality, then those items couldn't carry over (in their current form, anyway). Rest assured though, we will do what we can to preserve what is currently there and figure out solutions for what is not. That is my current understanding. :)
I understand that this is difficult. But I want you to keep one thing in mind: The stuff we spent money on. Meaning mainly SP and BPOs.
Now I guess that especially BPOs will be difficult to transfer over. So I would be fine with getting a single memorial suit. Something like a "'Dust' Memorial Suit" Would be nice if it's something good and would be in line with creating an emotional bond with the suit. So a rare prototype suit, but unspecialized. So it's something that won't make you better in the long run. But that's no must. For all of the other BPOs, as much as I like them, I think it would be fine to either convert them back to Aurum or make them Eve Online items, to be used to create Legion Gear. I mean the original vision was for Eve players to create the gear we use in Dust (so now in Legion), wasn't it? That would be a start to get that part of the Industry in Eve starting.
SP will be very difficult due to the new Skilltree. But please make sure we don't get the short end. Especially because that's probably the part most players spent most of their money on. I can't say much about how that would work, because you haven't told us yet how getting SP will work in Legion. Players currently being able to use specialized Proto Dropsuits and Proto weapons will expect to be able to use that stuff instantly with their character in Legion. And for skills that don't exist it would probably a good idea to give the players these SP into a "Unspent SP"-Pool.
Besides that let it be known that we really look forward to Legion. We're just concerned about our characters.

One question: is Dust commercial fail? So, if you plain Legion to PC, what with PS4?

DONT EVEN BOTHER making it no green light! I constantly see people bringing that HACK subject into the discussion. This will CERTANTLY NOT BE AN ISSUE. Remember that this is a permanent game with permanent characters and with PERMANENT BANS, imagine if any1 with more than a few weeks of gameplay would use anykind of hack and have the risk to get banned?? i am completely sure that hacks will never be a problem in legion.
The game will also be free to play allowing you to create dozens of characters, it cerrtianel won't matter how long your character has been around you will be a hero slayer with an aimbot.
Imagine a large battle against an impossible corp like AE or team players. You hire your alt corp of hackers to go in there and shoot face.you win with day one levels alts who cares if you loose them.
Let's face it the griefing tears is all most eve players would do it for anyway.
Aimbots are very hard to detect because they build in a missed shot and other inconsitincies so you would be ahrd pressed to know if they are just that good naturally.
Tell me how your ideas will stop this from happening? |

But you did see plans to split the dev team right? You did see the reduced dev cycle and no substantial content right? You did see that there was no content about Dust at Fanfest correct? Part of the team has been working on Legion for some months, and you still need another month to figure out what to do about the game that up until a couple of days ago had paying customers? It never seemed prudent to have that discussion amongst yourselves at some point before now? The amount of hubris involved in making your post is vast. Just tell Hilmar to draft a new apology letter, he can use the form from the Incarna debacle, and move on. Every day you are willing to accept money for a game that you know has no realistic chance of ever becoming what is advertised is an affront to good customer relations. true they better change their minds and announce for ps4 at e3 2014 next moth to cool their fans heads and mine, im enraged and can barely play dust today with excitement , and i loved and was very dedicated to dust

Few questions need to be answered in my opinion, since it will decide most of the DUST community future.
For the next weeks; 1) Is Project Legion a "go" or "no go" after the bad reaction it received; 2) How will character transfer work ? Will it really occur ? Hi guys I'll do what I can to answer some of your questions over the next few days. :) It's only the first day after Fanfest so I'm a little weary, but I'll do my best! Some answers for you, based on what we know: - Project Legion will be determined to be a "go" or a "no go" when Hilmar et al. sign off on it. We obviously really want it to grow in to a real boy and become everything this game's vision is made out to be. It's not at the point in development for that call to be made just yet. - Character transfer is a no-brainer from a conceptual standpoint, but it's specifics are difficult from a development standpoint. We're still working on some things for it and over the next few weeks (and once I'm back in Shanghai) hopefully I can figure out more of what that will entail. - It's too early to be able to talk about Recommend Hardware Specs, although I know that the guys are starting to pull a rough idea of these together. The game is still being heavily developed and little has been done in the way of optimization just yet, but this will obviously happen. When we have an idea of minimum specs I'll try to get them out to you. Keep poking. - Solid timeframe for Alpha / Beta is also impossible to give right now, because the truth is that we honestly don't know until the Project is green-lit. Once that happens then we'll be able to try and formalize those plans. Ultimately, I don't want to leave you guys in the dark. It was difficult to remain closed-lipped about the announcement of Project Legion prior to Fanfest (trust me!), but it's my intention to try and share as much as I can with you in the meantime.

OMG, DUDE! Seriously, hacks and cheaters are everywhere regardless. Don't make it seem that somehow there can be a guarantee that hackers and cheaters won't affect the game. That will never happen. Not in a million years. That's like saying somehow Apple computers are immune to hacks compared to regular PC computers. Games, no matter which platform you choose, will always see hackers and cheaters. Again, I want to remind everyone that consoles are still technically PCs only that they are downsized versions.

LOL. 'Aim-assist' and passive scanning in Dust are closer to aim- bots and wallhacks than anything I see on the PC games I play.

HILMAR you are our only HOPE!
I hope he cancels of any ambitions taken from those PC fanboys at CCP and confronts them with what CCP had achieved in the past of bringing together two platforms into the same universe. Two completely different communities that emerged on PC and console. I hope atleast Hilmar realizes that PC community and console community are two completely different kind of people and players, which only have in common a love for videogames and a passion for their individual tools which is a PC OR a console. CCP should know better that players on the console will never trade places with a PC, for the same reasons why dust was initially not developed for PC. When microsoft turned their back to you, Sony supported you. They made it happen that dust could see the light. And now your turning away from those thst supported you! The same with the community, the console community supported you and joined in to cope with PC gamers, started organizing cross platformwise. Started to manage huge corporations and alliances on the console.
At you SABERWING, Im deeply dissatisfied with your qualities as a community manager! - First of all you dont seem to have a clue what this community was seeking, heck you dont even seem to have noticed that this is a mainly console community for that matter! - Second of all you never tryed to any extend to get into contact or a relationship towards the core of this community, - Third you dont seem to have a clue what the vision of dust514 was and in turn brought players of the console platform to join into that vision. Im calling in a vote to remove you from dust514 and move over to your pc fanboys. Take CCP Rouge with you while your at it, if he cant see the vision of cross platform gaming happen and is only focussing on a PC version.
I dont know how PC fanboys made it into CPM or made it happen to turn the future of dust from cross platform gaming into single platform. If you have had representatives from the actual dust 514 community, i am hundert percent sure that none would have agreed to give you any support on your brainless legion approach. You want to push legion faster? Go ahead! All you gonna achieve, if at all, is to start a new FPS community on the PC. But those people your talking to right now, except of the pc fanboys thst wont stfu, will not follow you on your selfish path. These people here the dust community are made of players that wont spent money on a high end PC to expect the same performance in gameplay as a console. And dont even think you can mix PC Fps players with console FPS players, we are not going to battle dissillusioned PC players that do 360s aimhack wallhack the **** out of a game.
Hilmar please! Read the forums! Stop reading the EVE Forums and start listening to the console fans of new eden whos entire world is about to be destroyed by a few PC fanboys in your own company!

They did the same with EVE VR, which now became EVE Valkyrie. After thinking about it, I think they made the correct decision: informed us early in the process, and requested feedback. The only screwup was the giant mistake to announce it on Fanfest (and the Dust keynote to boot)
Saberwing, I think CCP made the right decision, and Legion is were mercs on the ground will flourish. Just make SURE the project is green lit, and I (and many other) in the community will help you make the best game possible. If it gets a no-go, that will be the end of a dream, and we are left with nothing.

Few questions need to be answered in my opinion, since it will decide most of the DUST community future.
For the next weeks; 1) Is Project Legion a "go" or "no go" after the bad reaction it received; 2) How will character transfer work ? Will it really occur ? (This question is the most needed one... since those who plan playing Legion will start gathering resources or trainning based on this answer); 3) How long do you plan the DUST 514 servers to run?
For the next few months 1) Specs required to run the future project (Similar to EVE ? TO PS2?), Since people need time to plan a purchase of a rig; 2) SOLID timeframe for Alpha/Beta start. How long till the conclusion of the project? We need REAL progress tracking and dev blogs at least 2 per month to keep us updated.
The "Don't do this again to us" List: 1) Leave us in the dark; 2) Change projects without consulting us first; 3) Booster sales in a dying game (This was the most absurd thing IMO. I have 1 year of passive booster connected...all for nothing); 4) Specially this one... DO NOT LIE TO US ANYMORE !(LASER FOCUSED ON THE PS3 means LASER FOCUSED ON THE PS3... LASER FOCUSED ON THE LEGION PROJECT MEANS LASER FOCUSED ON THE LEGION PROJECT) (The Caps is not a scream it's to get the attention)
The concept you are working is what keeps me here... I'm losing almost all my corp mates to Destiny ( that game looks like it's going to SUCK BAD! ) because of this decision... I'm mad and needless to say ... all of us are.

:) - I have seen no plans relating to DUST 514 shutting down at this time.
I really like this project and hope the dreams gets real I like the 1 platform idea and possiblitys on the pc are endless. |

To ask a question infers that an answer will be given.
As far as CCP is concerned many of us stopped asking questions long ago.

So, you guys announced Project Legion at fanfest DUST keynote (during which, BTW, you barely mentioned DUST at all), without even being certain that Legion has a green light for production ?!?!?!
And what if Hilmar et al decide to scrap it? Do you realize that the Incarna debacle is going to look like a big success compared to the shitstorm you just unleashed, potentially for nothing?
I'm living in New Eden from 2008. During these 6 years, this is by far the most reckless and unreasonable move I've seen you pull off.
You better make Legion worth all this ruckus you just caused! If you screw this up, I'm afraid the community will never forget it. I sure won't.

I, for one, think the freedom that we have now that is also available to new players right at the start is better than a system that locks a player into just one role and doesn't allow customization till they reach the top tier.

If this is so early in development, why announce it at a dust 514 keynote?
And here you make it seem there will be more dust 514 development, why was this not mentioned at a Dust 514 keynote?
I do question the commitment CCP holds to Dust 514, as every indication is that nothing more will be done.

Point of clarification here.
You have a 10 year development plan, roadmaps to 2.0, known issues list, vechials, weapons, etc etc etc and you don't know what is happening with DUST 514 beyond when you walk in the door?
"Few things..." "over the next few weeks... hopefully I can figure out more..."
That would be good. -_-

This was in development for a few months and you knew this was coming. Yet you all still put out these merc packs for people to purchase! That makes me sick! You had players go to Iceland to see the keynote speech about Dust and you speak of Legion! What the ***** is wrong with you guys?! You are all SCUMBAGS!
Don't think that you're too big to fail! Your time is coming!
Win or lose....I bring out the best in you!

I, for one, think the freedom that we have now that is also available to new players right at the start is better than a system that locks a player into just one role and doesn't allow customization till they reach the top tier.
Yes, 100%. I'm hoping CCP Z's presentation videos will be on YouTube at some point this week, and once I'm back in Shanghai I'll try to get some open dialogue going with him for you guys.
