I JUST tuned into the live stream of Fanfest and Im seeing this guy showcasing how he creates/paints things in EVE. This is so ridiculous it's hilarious. I think Mr. Rogers was far more entertaining than this.
Seriously though, they need to cut out A LOT of fat from FanFest. Poor guy is probably sitting in a room of about 15-20 ppl tops painting pictures with his fancy photo-shop program (well that's what it looks like to me anyway -_-). This isn't interesting at all, it's just pointless filler.

I remember when someone modded the game files for temperature to make cats about 7x hotter than the sun.... his fortress had more than 700 cats. Nuclear Catsplosion was achieved.
The explanation of catsplosion wasn't that great though. The problem with cats in dwarf fortress for the uninformed was that they breed - and unlike other animals which are assigned owners, cats mindcontrol people into owning them... which makes them unhappy when their cats die (because if cats *don't* die your framerate will slow to a crawl with the 700000 cats running around as the things don't ****ing die of old age), which can cause tantrum spirals, which can kill fortresses.
Because when a dwarf gets an unhappy thought about his dead cat, he gets so mad he punches someones baby, which makes them unhappy and the original dwarf gets punished by the dwarven hammerer - chief justice of the fortress who usually absconds with all the very best weapons and metes out justice like judge dredd, and then that unhappy victim of babypunching goes and murders two peoples cats and the dead victim of the hammerers family act out, and then your whole fortress is dead because its population killed each other. And that's before portals to hell and SECRET FUN STUFF get involved.

I could plan this FanFest way better than they did:
Make the entire event two days long.
Day 1
Keynotes the first day In the morning, afternoon, and evening
Sprinkle of preliminary PvP action between the afternoon and evening Keynotes
Dinner with the Devs
Day 2
Presentations that go into a bit more depth about the keynotes with Q&A
(None of this pointless crap that I'm seeing right now)
Tournaments and such
CCP Presents
Then the Party at the Top of the World
I'm done |

CCP have a lot of experience with this, and are giving the fans what they want. A two day format would be too rushed for people actually attending (as opposed to sitting at home being spoon-fed). They need to have something for people to do at the start of day 1, but also need to make sure that people who's travel plans are disrupted don't miss too much of significance.

I understand that not all panels are going to satisfy your needs or deliver information that you'd rather see - but the fact is that Concept Art Live Session has always been very exciting for players and one of the most popular ones.
Creating concept art on the fly is very difficult and challenging - especially when you are not at your own desk but in Harpa, on Fanfest, on Live Stream, talking to the audience and trying to make something out of nothing in less than 60 minutes. As an ex-designer myself, I am highly interested at seeing what tools and how those tools the art team is using.
Additionally, tips from that session were very valuable for anyone interested in making concept art or generally using these tools at home. :)
So yeah - I understand that some players might not be overly excited with the live concept art creation - but it is something that's very unique and cool to see. Then again, if you really can't stand looking at live concept art creation, come back after 60 minutes and then you can move to another item on the stream schedule.

Personally, I enjoyed it.
If you don't like it, you don't have to watch it. But as CCP Frame pointed out - it is challenging to create art in front of an audience - and some people are quite likely to be interested in it.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

I love concept art as much as the next guy, but doing a panel about the exact process of their creation seems a tad bit filler-y. It should just be slide show presenting their work and perhaps the steps they took from alpha to final product. But drawing it in front of the audience? C'mon... |

Sorry OP and anyone who agrees with him but Fanfest doesn't revolve around you. There are thousands of other people who are interested in every single thing presented there and these things are aimed at them. If you don't like what you see, you don't have to watch it. If you'd rather see something else, I suggest you pay for a ticket and fly over there to watch that instead.
Jeez the selfish egotism of some people.
