so i have an idea that may or may not help uplink camping. the biggest problem is when the random blueberries are not really smart and will spawn into known danger.
the idea is to add a passive function of a 10 meter 360 degree passive scan to the deployable uplink. the uplink will have a scan precision the same as an active scanner of the same meta level. this will give incentive to the enemy to destroy the uplink rather then camp it as it will betray their location and leave them open to being OB'ed by those who take advantage of this. on the flip side should they not destroy it and try to camp it anyways it will show what uplink is hostile and help you decide a better location to reactivate your new clone.

You think it'll be used to prevent camping - I think it will end up being used as deployable scanners.

I like the idea. However, to prevent abuse as a deployable scanner i think the uplink symbol should just change to say yellow to represent the possibility of danger. This would eliminate the use a scanner and not give a way an enemies exact position, just their general location. It would also force players to pay more attention to where friendly uplinks are placed as it might be safe on an elevated structure with enemies below.

Terrible idea. Sure it will fix being spawn but then If you put uplinks near points then you will be able to see everything.

I tend to agree with those who posted a "negative" towards this scanner-component having any success.
Your idea has a LOT of merit, because it was thought up by a player who is clearly THINKING!! (namely YOU,...take a bow, because MOST players are still, well, kind of behind the curve on thinking before they take their next step).
But it's the fact that you're surrounded by a multitude that still hasn't cultivated the THINKING part of this game, that will cause your idea to end up being dumped by the curb, trampled right over, or as suggested by someone already,...exploited as another kind of "scanner".
But God Bless you folks for just coming up with these ideas. At least it shows SOME of us are being aware of the battlefield traps, and trying to help save our team-mercs from putting thier foot in it.
, and My Lord, I see them put their foot in it OVER and OVER AGAIN! How many times do you have to get mad and respawn at the same camped-uplink, before you realize it's been overrun and your death won't be different the fourteenth time!?
...The same way we need GOOD drivers for dropships (not just cocky players who BRAG that they are good), we need players who are ferrets, REALLY clever at setting uplinks that can't be located/camped very well. |

Yeah, I immediately thought portable scanner when I read this idea. A less abusable mechanic might be to make the icon turn yellow if a teammate has died within 10m of the uplink in the past 30 seconds or something.

This idea wouldn't be much of a help in stopping blueberries from spawning into danger because passive scans are only shared with squad, not team. I would like the idea of a dedicated portable scanner (like a TUGS) but adding scanning to drop links sounds like it wouldn't help in the way you're thinkingGǪ

Uplink camping is not a "problem". Bad teams failing to keep control of their spawn points is a problem.

My idea is to un-nerf the uplinks and give them a spawn radius that would be boosted by the amarr logistics skill this would give players a small to wide area to spawn rather then directly on top of the uplink this would make it harder for players to camp them and most likely to destroy them when they are found.
I don't even know why I bother.

I prefer the idea to change the color of the uplink, or have it flash some kind of warning on the screen if their are enemies near it. That way, you come out expecting a fight, or you can choose a safer spot. Also, the warning should only be visible to players who are dead and searching for a respawn point, to prevent people from using it as a proximity detector.

Interesting idea.
I'd wouldn't mind seeing a special type of link that does this though, rather than all links. Or simply the proto links

Maybe the scanner aspect could be limited to a proximity scanner, only be displayed on the overhead map, and have a small bubble around it that shines red whenever an enemy is within it, but displays no other indicators. No arrows, chevrons, nothing. Also, the scanner will have no hud indicator, like "Someone is in the vicinity", to anyone on the ground.
Just an idea, if it were to be implemented. |

I like this.
Yellow = someone died within the vicinity recently (> 1 minute but less than 3) or just # redberries are within the vicinity Red = someone died within the last minute within the vicinity recently or greater than # redberries are within the vicinity
also i would like green uplinks at default when nothing is happening to show squad uplinks.
