Just wondered who still uses infantry damage mods. The obvious categories are:
- snipers - swarmers - heavies
But are people still using them for their run and gun suits, and if so, with which suits and weapons? I find them hard to justify myself. |

Still using them on Amarr Assault: both with the Laser and Scrambler rifle.

I use them on my LR suits and to a smaller degree on my ScR suits. The overheat mechanism means you need to make each shot count, and the only way to boost your damage vs. stacked armor with a -20% laser profile is to have a couple damage mods.
Best PvE idea ever!

I have them on my gal scout combat suit because shield extenders are pretty worthless on it and the extra ~9% I can get on my breach ScP shots can make all the difference in those headshots - takes my shield headshots from 450% to 491%, which goes up to 540% with my prof 5 - that's 725 damage per shield headshot and somewhere around 500 damage per armor headshot.
And of course they also apply to my SMG, which I run to back up the ScP :)
And I use the light dmg mods for my swarms too.
Dedicated sidearm scout - Watch out for that headshot

I like to use them on my Commando fits. Only 1 mod though. The mod along with each racial weapon damage bonus added in with your prof skills really makes a deadly combo. Cal Commando + Rail Rifle FTW!
Seriously though, they still help. Although there is no need to train passed the advanced mods. It costs way to much sp for an extra 1% damage.

They only really shine on high alpha or high ROF weapons. Any other and you are better off with something else.
I tend not to fit a tank because there is no regularity in the incoming damage anymore. Either you die before you can react or the damage is minimal and you can run away. Sounds like an obvious statement, but there used to be a middle ground where one could have a firefight.

I use them on all types of heavy frames only.
all other suits get more bang for their buck from more HP unless you are really sitting somewhere at the redline sniping. |

to you fools saying I use 4 or 5. it was useless to use more than 3 mods on one suit, with the old damage mod numbers. the nerf makes those people look worse, because now they think if they add MORE mods they can make up for lost damage...smg. 2 or 3 percent extra damage, doesn't mean jack in a shooter where the ttk is so low.
the quee...im mean snipers, are the only people who can justify more than 3 , only because they are b!tch azz pu$$ies who sit in the red line and need zero tank or precision |

Use one on all my Min Assaults. Just to help break heavy shield suits One also on my Heavy, similar reason, only one cus I prefer to have my shields recharge faster between engagements.
None on my Logi / Scout. I need all the protection I can get.

if you do use damage mods
use the cn-v most of us got with the merk packs or they are 30 aur on the market
cn-v was an enhanced damage mod pre 1.8
now in 1.8 it's a complex damage mod with enhanced fitting req's

Still quite useful on a commando since Dust compounds each stat. Need lvl 5 commando though.
So a commando gets 5.5% from the first mod and 5%ish from the second mod.
Still doesn't make them worth the fitting costs, which in my opinion needs lowered if we are staying with the 3,4,5%' |

Exactly. The only DMG mod users who were really affected were the complex DMG mod users. Big waste of SP. Oh well, "welcome to New Eden... blah blah blah" :)
Seriously though, I'll always find ways to enjoy the game, having spent too much RL money to ever give up on it.

Sentinels get more benefit out of fitting additional shield mods, unless they are forge gunning. Bonus to resistance feeds into the extra HP.
Commandos, minmatar and caldari specifically, benefit greatly from damage mods. |

Instead of :
STD - 3% ADV - 4% PRO - 5%
this make the complex not worth it and a bit useless in my opinion

I put a damage mod on my gk.0 heavy because its 5% extra damage versus 3 or 4% extra ehp for the extender (70-80ish ehp out of 1800 total ehp). But i can see your point of view. You can go either way with hmg really. |

Yep, that is what I was running. because of stacking penalties, I ran 3 complex and 2 advanced with my Charge. It was a brutal weapon. Then they decided to nerf it to the 3-4-5% so instead of my 35 ish % bonus, I'm getting 20ish%. It made a HUGE difference when talking a 1 shot at a time weapon. |

On my minmatar assualt i use them. When i'm proto again it'll be 3.
My minja uses 1 at complex on an advanced suit.
My Minmatar Hmg heavy uses them.
My laser rifle scout uses a Complex.
My commandoes... They all use them.

If stacking penalty was reduced to 100% 90% 80% 70%, then the 5% would seem a bit more potent.
But as I do not use damage mods myself, I don't know if this would negatively impact combat time. By that I mean, I'm one who is inclined more to liking decision making while in combat as opposed to "first to land bullet is first to kill" methodology that many people seem to be preaching.

Yes, for my combat rifle in many fits I use Enhanced mods (best PG/CPU per % increase in Damage)
