what i dont get is why someone takes out a thales 300 meters deep in their redline and gets 5 kills, when i get 20 kills and never die in a militia suit with a basic tac sniping from the enemies redline. if u dont want to lose it, dont use it. when i bring out my thales, its only to countersnipe another thales, or to snipe a DNS squad from their own redline (never lost a thales before either)

One of my favorite recurring complaints about snipers is along the lines of, "UR SO DUM Y U NOT B GUD N HELP UR TEEM UR COWWERD".
Right--because when I'm on a team that's getting beat worse than Tina Turner, it's way more valuable for me to throw clones down the drain trying to run on the frontline (something I do adequately, at best) than it is for me to get at least a few kills and deny the enemy WP for harvesting my corpse (which, you know, adds to the odds of their calling an orbital, further obliterating out already sad forces).
I encourage other snipers to contribute their observations of obfuscated anti-sniper propaganda, and ask our detractors to fling mad sh!t, for it is sunny outside, and I feel ALIVE!
I don't hate enemy snipers.
What I do hate however are scrub ass cowards on my own team who, as soon as a battle starts to take a bad turn, spawn in some crappy sniper fit and camp in our redline and take useless potshots at the enemy. This of course further harms our war effort in the battle by reducing our sides number of personel doing any actual fighting.
At the very least you chickenshits could spawn in some cheap MLT fits and push forwards. But no, you camp the redline and destroy the efforts of the entire team.
You suck at this game, by virtue of being lousy teamplayers. |

Your range should be reduced to ~ 300-350 meters, then I have no problem with snipers. I have a problem with red-line snipers.
Watch your back because I might be there.

Who snipes from the spot where they last died? Idiot snipers do.....if you even get hit as a sniper you should RELOCATE IMMEDIATLY...plain, simple, intelligent decision...wait alot of dust mercs don't have that I think it depends on the situation. There are certain spots that offer very wide, clear views of the map, have good cover, are easy to spot, but otherwise a pain to get to. Also, if I'm running a cheap(er) sniper fit and already have 5+ kills from that spot, I'll usually just keep on rolling, since one death is a fair trade for an extra kill or two on top of the 5+.
I think the better reason to move is because there aren't any targets--being willing to hold down a good spot that offers a wide range of targets to pick from and a good view of objectives is a sign of a baller sniper. I'm not afraid to brawl with anyone that tries to come at me; it's almost more satisfying to use my SMG to take out the sniper hunters that bring the fight to me.
I've found that if I tank the first shot (which I usually do if it's not a Thales/Charge headshot), I can get to cover, rep up, and, thanks to not dying and therefore getting the red arrow indicating what o'clock the shot came from, an 8 time out of 10, pinpoint my counter and take them out. At this point, there's a 50/50 chance they'll either bug out or get desperate/go insane from rage--in either case, the ball is in my court. Just gotta keep scanning any openings where the counter might try to take you out from another angle. This, too, is a great way to get some extra kills if you're familiar with the maps, since plenty of countersnipers will try to take you out from another angle(s) that you may already be familiar with.
In my experience, countersnipers (in whatever form) are not usually a huge threat. For this reason, I think it can be completely sensible to stick around after taking a hit. However, getting killed is a different story. You hit me once, shame on you. You kill me and I come back, shame on me.

What are you doing wandering around the redline looking for UP loserpipes when you could be capping and holding objectives? Yet another way snipers sap this game of its fun and function.

So, you're saying snipers can act as effective decoys, diverting the opposition's attention, potentially drawing them away from objectives, and either way improving their team's strategic position? Sounds like a terribly boring, useless thing for a sniper to do. What sniper could have fun or function doing so?
EDIT: I love this: a sniper hater hating a sniper lover for dealing with snipers the wrong way.

Ah snipers. Besides the very rare HAV kill they are my favorite thing to destroy. I do play with a few good ones though who do have an effect on battles.
Yesterday I snuck up onto the enemies redline just below a ridge in a militia sniper suit. Just slowly popped up and down along the rise moving back and forth between kills. 8 snipers dead, six head shots, 2 proto kills all with a militia. The tunnel visions scrub snipers get is ridiculous.
My other anti-sniper tactic tends to have me suicide more but there is no other rush like popping up behind a sniper nest unnoticed. I slap on a militia Min light suit, militia damps, breach scrambler and a grenade. POP, POP, POP with the barrel touching their heads. "Hey Guys, Snipers are dead! HAHAHAHAHA"
Gotta find those good moments to keep you playing this game.
